I am glad FATH is finally coming out on Blu-Ray, but like many others on this board, I am also a little perplexed on why they released both movies together. Maybe they did it so they would not have to make a seperate edition for the sequel, which is understandable. I am also worried what they will do with the Cinderella Diamond Edition.....

I wouldn't worry about the Diamond Editions, I'm thinking they may be "immune" to this sort of treatment. In the US, we didn't get BATB or Bambi (3/1) packaged with their sequel(s). I know that Bambi II was re-released alongside the original overseas, but did both come in the same case or were the two movies just release in a pair of 2 cases?

I was ecstatic at first because FATH was part of my childhood and going Blu meant every other title now had a restored chance of hitting the format, BUT,

1 BLU-RAY DISC? PACKAGED WITH FATH2 PERHAPS?

Terrible, awful news. I hope FATH 2 is confined to DVD hell forever.

The unfortunate thing is, Bambi 2 did get a release on Blu in the UK meaning there is every chance that FATH2 gets on the disc.

But, I don't give a crap how good they may be, and evidence points to they're not, I do not recognize them at all. I agree they cheapen the original. Bambi 2? Fark that. An insult to Walt and animation, a product of EISNER times. Screw that sunovabeetch.

Only ones I don't mind are Pooh because the nature of Pooh as shorts and everything, whatever, anyway, sacrificing video and audio quality of FATH for FATH2? EFF NO. Bambi 2 would presumably get a better release then since it has its own disc to breathe.

SCREW YOU DISNEY. FOX AND THE HOUND ON ITS OWN PLEASE. Also, pathetic features, if there is only one there should be a PiP/BonusView/AiW feature commentary that would make up for all the nonsense that FATH has received in the past.

Oh wait, that might take up too much space considering how we're pressed for it anyway. The feature will probably be FATH2: Deleted Scene.

"Fox and the Hound"

Post by Refael »

I do not know about you but I am very happy
Really surprise me that now all of Disney's major movie coming out in September "Fox and the Hound"
It seems to me that her life planned out Blu-ray films of the 2001 Disney
Alice, Bambi, tangled, Lion King .... Here comes Fox and the Hound what happiness
How much do I love this movie, from an early age I always like the end is exciting that all of Todd
Background says Cooper, "You my best friend" if the exciting music - from childhood I was attracted to the perfect animation only Disney animation excite me know.

But, it seems to me from you that movie sequel in the same case, it seems a little disappointing
It is not exclusive and unique first film, that Disney's sequels do not compare to
Of the first films, and it is very clear
I personally important packaging "front" Blue Ray will be perfect just like the previous DVD Box Set The
"Autumn colors" (the title will not be upside down like Bambi)

I just thought of something. The insert shown in the photo is most likely from the overseas release of Bambi, which is already out. Up until now, the US has not seen a single sequel re-release that they've gotten overseas.

It is possible that this advertisement applies to releases of The Fox and the Hound overseas only? Maybe we will only be getting The Fox and the the Hound in the US, just like we only got Beauty and the Beast and will be getting Bambi, with no sequels in sight (packaged alongside the original or on their own). It would be strange that up until now, the US hasn't seen a single sequel re-released (except for Fantasia 2000, which is canon), and then all of a sudden we not only get one, but it's jammed in the same package as the original film.

I'm not sure if this is the case, but it's just something to think about before you panic.

Oh and as for Hunchback, MJW, it hasn't gone OOP.

Common thread so far for Alice, Dumbo, Fox is they've gone OOP.

Good news, Pooh and Pocahontas went OOP as well.

Keep an eye peeled for Hunchback though I'd think a Sep-Dec slate of FATH, Pooh, Pooh again, Lion King and Pocahontas might be too overwhelming for Disney.

The insert is from the US release I believe. It certainly was not in the UK release (or you would have heard about it a few weeks ago)

TFATH has always held a special place in my heart so I'm thrilled about this Blu release but I'm not so thrilled about it being packaged with its pathetic sequel. Come on Disney, release them separate or just go ahead and burn all the master copies of the sequel and say so long to it for good.

Maybe the sequel can be considered a "special feature" without taking over the packaging (much like the Bartok movie became a special feature on the Anastasia DVD set). If so, then maybe this won't be that bad. (I doubt that will happen but it would be much preferred.) While the sequel was subpar, I admit the soundtrack itself is very addictive and made me a country music fan again...temporarily.

I'm excited about this release. I hope TFATH gets a good restoration. I won't watch the 2nd one. It shall collect dust inside of the case...

Don't you guys think it's a little unfair to trashtalk the midquel? I, for one, thought it was pretty decent. :(

I'm not really sure what to make of this news, it's good to hear of more Classics making their way to Blu-Ray. Although The Fox and the Hound has never been one of my favorites and I bought a used copy of the "25th Anniversary" only a year and half ago off eBay so it really wasn't that long ago. I have never seen the sequel before (one of the very few which I haven't seen), and whilst I may pick it up on DVD at some point for the simple fact that I would like to have all the animated sequels eventually I'm not interested in getting it on Blu-Ray. There are only a select few sequels such as Mermaid's and A Twist in Time to name a few which I would be interested in getting on the format (should they ever make it to Blu-Ray of course!). I decided not to buy the Bambi/Bambi 2 twin pack on Blu-Ray, as I have the sequel on DVD already and it's not something I watch often (I will re-watch it some time after I watched the Diamond Edition and this only be the second time I've seen it!). It's very strange how it does seem to be a 1 Blu-Ray/ 2 DVD Combo. If there truly won't be an option to buy it individually then that is degrading to the original. It's almost as if Disney feels they need to stick that in with it to make "a better package for money", worried that the original wouldn't fair well on it's own.

For myself, disc space isn't the point. I just have a serious problem with most of the DTV sequels in that they cheapen the theatrical films considerably and I do not want to support them in anyway shape or form. FatH isnt a favorite, so what really bothers me is this shit most likely will lead to something like all three Little Mermaid films on ONE blu-ray being the only way to get the first one in HD.
Now that is a painful thought! Whilst I would get the sequels on Blu-Ray I certainly wouldn't want them packaged with my beloved original....EVER, unless of course they release another Trilogy set all separately packaged.

But Fox and the Hound Bluray is fantastic news.
Oh is it that awful? I remember seeing the trailer for it when I was first released and remembering thinking that the animation wasn't too bad. I've just had a look on Amazon and they've got it for just over £4 wondering whether I should give it a try

That's exactly what I've hoped they would start doing ever since they started releasing blu-rays. But they've already screwed that one up by not including the BatB or Bambi sequels. Not that I love the sequels... I'd have them burned just like everyone else... but since there's no way they're going to just completely erase them from the release schedule, I think the ideal way to release them would be to just throw another DVD in the back of the case, don't change the cover at all (or at least make it a very small "Including Fox and the Hound 2"), and call it a day. That way everyone's happy.

I agree, especially for them to go as far to say "two beloved movies" this doesn't make any sense

People will have varying opinions on it. It's basically a singing dog movie with the Fox and the Hound characters shoe-horned into the plot. Reba plays the lead female dog. I guess if you're deep into redneck culture, the movie would be great but otherwise it's just the dumbest shit ever.

The Fox and the Hound's one of my least favorite Disney films, but I'm still happy it's getting released since it means more non-Diamond titles are on the horizon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Hunchback sooner than later. I'll be picking up F&tH for completion's sake. It'll be interesting to see what ratio it's presented in since this film has such a muddy history in regards to that.

The inclusion of the sequel/midquel doesn't bother me. It's not like Disney edited it into the middle of the original film so that you're forced to endure it.
