So many generalizations . . . ouch . . .

Um, I'm not buying that only men can separate love and lust. Plenty of women are capable, and plenty of men don't know the difference. :p Not that I think it ever justifies cheating. Yes, there's something called getting swept up in the moment, but if anything, what entitles anyone to do something that they know would hurt their partner so much? If they didn't even consider the impact it could make, they wouldn't bother trying to keep their affairs secret. That alone is enough to show that there's a problem with the existing relationship.

Also, how can anyone label this guy as a cheap-ass for passing along his mother's engagement ring? Just because he's royalty/a celebrity doesn't make him immune to the unspeakable sentimental value a piece of jewelry like that must have for him.

Talk about generalizations... There are plenty of reasons to justify cheating. If your husband or wife is treating you like shit; if your marriage has been 'dead' (sex/love-wise) for years; if your spouse doesn't pay any attention to you anymore... Either way, no matter what the circumstance are, I don't have a moral judgement about it, because I can't look inside people's heads to know what they think; I don't know them, their judgements and their relationships, so why should I judge?

Who said anything about it being an 'entitlement'? There's no such thing. There are just things that can happen, and *do* happen from time to time. I'm not saying I approve (let alone engage in it), but it's just a thing of reality. It is what it is. :)

joke noun ( FUNNY ) /dʒəʊk//dʒoʊk/

[C] something, such as a funny story or trick, that is said or done in order to make people laugh

Did I tell you the joke about the chicken crossing the road?
She spent the evening cracking (= telling) jokes and telling funny stories.
She tied his shoelaces together for a joke.
I hope Rob doesn't tell any of his dirty jokes (= jokes about sex) when my mother's here.
He tried to do a comedy routine, but all his jokes fell flat (= no one laughed at them).
Don't you get (= understand) the joke?

I'm on the Eastern Standard Time Zone, so I'm choosing to watch the Royal Wedding on the Today Show, where the coverage begins at 4 AM and continues until 10. All the major networks are covering it and most begin coverage between 4 or 5 AM and last until about 9 or a little later.

Maybe I'm out of the loop but why is everyone celebrating this abusive waste of taxpayer's money? Why does the Royal Family (monarchy) still exist? They're the largest welfare family on the planet and if anything, they should be giving all British citizens reparations for hundreds of years of tyranny. To me they're just a stark reminder that people were at one point stupid enough to believe that someone was divine and were willingly sacrifice their liberty to them for a false sense of security.

I just don't understand the excitement :?

Speaking for only myself, the Royal Wedding isn't about reality. It's about idealized tradition and fairytales, not politics. Surely, as a fan of Disney animation you can see where that comes from, considering some of their most enduring work features romantic Princes and Princesses and culminates in lavish wedding scenes or ballroom dances.

I'm not going to say you're wrong, jpanimation, as I think an actual Briton would have a more appropriate answer to your queries. But, as an American, I shamelessly await the Royal Wedding for a fantasy escape. I can't wait to see the beauty, the majesty of it all. I might mention that I've never witnessed a big Royal Wedding before, and that also adds to my anticipation.

With that in mind, these are the movies I'm planning on watching today:

Tangled
Sleeping Beauty
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
The Princess Diaries
The Princess Diaries 2: The Royal Engagment
Enchanted
Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella (Julie Andrews version)
The Little Mermaid
Beauty and the Beast
Anastasia

and the one I'm most excited to watch tonight,

Walt Disney's Cinderella

If anyone wants to watch something else besides the Royal Wedding, Space Shuttle Endeavour will be lifting off at 3:47 pm EDT (12:47 pm PST) on its final mission before flying off into retirement at the California Science Center. But I'm guessing the wedding should be over by the time Endeavour lifts off the launch pad one last time.

Because in doing so it's injecting a ton of money into the UK in the form of tourist spending and commemerative merch sales. Not to mention broadcasters who will benefit from the 2 billion estimated viewers.

So people can make money off them. That and it's a cultural/celebrity tradition that only costs about 62p* per tax payer a year.

* That's pence, not pounds.

The royal wedding will start at 11am (British Summer Time) on April 29.

The official British monarchy channel has a countdown to the wedding.

Most coverage starts at midnight in Alaska which is 4am in New York...it would be around 4am in Puerto Rico as well, correct?

I just realized this...

People are already being cynical, silly, snarky and critical of this wedding. While that is to be expected, here's the thing...

Regardless of your beliefs on the concept of weddings, whether you think this is a legit event or one HUGE press event, whether you think the lovers are pure and honest or just hypocrites, it is wonderful to see the world united to celebrate something as great as love.

Think about it for a sec...

For months now, all we have been hearing are about earthquakes, tsunamis, destruction, death, corruption, bad economy and many other depressing events.

It's great for once to see such a positive coverage. Yes, the ideals of marriage have been tainted by green, hypocrisy and materialism. But there's no denying that despite what religious stands behind it, a wedding is a beautiful event where true love is celebrated. It is about an union of souls that vow to love each other till death do them part.

So again, whether you think this is legit or a sham, at least it's a POSITIVE world event rather than a negative event, and lord knows we have been getting too many of those as of late.

Yes, I am a hopeless romantic.

You know what... I AGREE.

And if I hear one more thing about Donald Trump I'm gonna go insane.

So in #Royalwedding news, Kate looks gorgeous! Her dress is beyond beautiful.

oh and look, it's Diana's illegitimate son Harry! (couldn't resist)

Even though I hadn't planned on it, I ended up watching the whole thing. Will and Kate looked so cute together.

Or Charile Sheen, for that matter.

I know! It was absolutely magnificent. It had just enough detail, without being overly extravagant. And Kate looked stunning, of course.

Disney's Divinity wrote:I don't really believe that, tbh. At heart, people are emotional/psychological beings (yes, that includes men), and when you’re willing to have sex with someone on the spot, it, imo, only represents a deeper problem, either with the person or the relationship or with how the person feels about/views the relationship.
Well, that may be your 'opinion', but biology and evolution contradict everything you said. I'm sorry.
Have you mellowed these past few months or what?

Seriously, this year and last year it's the same thing- I agree with Divinity, etc. A 'fact' like the one you seemed to've been harping on there clearly pressed the argument that women are stupid. Something I doubt someone as compassionate as you (can be) would ever want to argue.

As for the wedding- even if I have nothing to do, I have something better to do with my time than give a rat's ass about the wedding of someone who's only famous for being someone else's kid.

The wedding was wonderful, and Kate's gown was beautiful.

I can't wait to see what the future has in store for this couple. I hope it's a happy one.
