I mean, I haven't been trying as hard to find a retail job as maybe I should. I've been calling places that sound interesting to work at (The Disney Store, Best Buy, GAP, Movie Theaters, etc) and every time I ask they say they aren't hiring. Perhaps I should just go to the mall and ask every store if they're hiring, and fill out an application anyway if they're not. It's hard to get motivated to do that, though. There's always a little voice inside of me saying that I'm going to find something just around the corner. Though that voice is getting weaker as the months carry on.pinkrenata wrote:Maybe things are a little better in Minnesota, but I have a hard time believing that even retail (and the dreaded food service) places aren't hiring. I've been managing the front desk at a hair salon for a couple of years and the front desk turnout rate is huge. Since a lot of people think of it as a temporary sort of position they'll start, work for a while, and then quit when it become to difficult to balance their other job/school/whatever. Even when we aren't hiring, I always accept (and look seriously) at applications and I usually end up calling them back at some point.
I'd totally do the front desk job at a hair salon (or anything for that matter). I'm not really sure where to find jobs like that, though. Retail you just walk in. Do they post that kind of stuff on websites?
