I double dip on all Disney titles. I don't get rid of the older version, either - and won't unless DVD goes the way of VHS (those I got rid of a few years ago). I currently have all of the Disney Blu-ray titles that have been released so far.

One fun factor of double dipping is that you can have the same movie playing on multiple TVs in your house at the same time. We tried to time it so they were running exactly frame-for-frame, creating somewhat of a stereo effect throughout the house! OK - that must have been a day I had too much time on my hands, or else wanted to separate the kids from each other.

Peter Pan PE.... yes or no?

Post by vojna »

dear people :D

can you help me a little bit with the problem I got with Peter Pan PE?

think is that I already own the Special Edition. To me the picture looks fine and the sound is in DD 5.1 so thats ok as well. The problem is the second disc with the bonus features.

Is it worth to double dip Peter Pan in this way? I just went through the UltimateDisney.Com review of Peter Pan Platinum Edition and it shows that there is no extra "The making of Peter Pan" documentary like in other Platinum Editions (The Little Mermaid, Lady and the Tramp). So what would you say... Is it worth to double dip it or just wait for a re-release on Blu-Ray? THX

Peter Pan Platinum Edition is worth it in my opinion.

If I really like a movie, I'll double-dip and then typically sell my older version. Though I'm thinking about keeping my "Sleeping Beauty" once the Platinum Edition comes out if the extras don't include eveything on the first release. And I have both DVD editions of "Atlantis" for some reason...

I doubled-dipped on "Dinosaur" and "Atlantis"- I sold my 1-disc "Atlantis" DVD, but CD Warehouse wouldn't take my "Dinosaur" 1-disc DVD, because apparently there's a scratch on it, but I had bought that one used.

I double-dipped on "The Fox and the Hound", because I wanted the new documentary, and I sold my Gold Collection DVD. Other than those, I haven't double-dipped. Originally, I was going to double-dip for movies such as "Robin Hood" or "Dumbo", but then I figured why bother... The movies in the Platinum line, for example, I had only had on VHS, so it's not like I had the Limited Issue DVDs...If I had had the Limited Issues, then surely I would've double-dipped for the Platinum Editions.

I don't like double dipping. Espically on titles when the new disc pretty much doesn't offer anything new. The only time I've double dipped (with the exception of when I rebought movies I lost in a house fire) was with Peter Pan. I upgraded the old special edition to the PE.

I have several movies that I could "upgrade" (TFatH, TMAoWtP, Dumbo, Tarzan) but the newer discs didn't offer me anything that made we want to shell out the price for a new DVD.
