Wow! I must say that some of you, who drew some of Disney characters (especially Chernobog_Rocks), did a great job on it. Well, I drew a picture of Jiminy Cricket back in December 2006. I don't trace it but I actually drew it from the source! :)

Image

Source I used was from an I'm No Fool short I found at *snipsnipyoutubesnipsnip*

Speaking of drawing skills, I also drew non-Disney characters! :D

Back in 2003, I drew Nausicaa and I think its one of the best drawings I ever did. Source I used is.......well from the original film and not traced it.

Also, I also did a drawing of the characters from Azumanga Daioh (which it is my current favorite anime at this moment). For those of you who didn't know about this anime, you should probably download it at bittorrent sites because I'd tell you, its hillariously funny. By the way, I didn't even trace it. :P

I hope you'll like it.

Can You Draw Disney?

Post by Disney Duster »

Good attempts, UmbrellaFish, but I think Ariel's fin around her waist is transparent (meaning you should be able to see her tail throught it). Keep at your drawing, okay?

RyougaLolakie, those are very good! The last one from that anime Azumanga Daioh doesn't look as good as the others, but I'm guessing that's the style and I'm trusting you drew them as they actually look. Which, in that case, would mean I don't like how they look, so I won't be watching that anime.

Then again, Shin-Chan has horrible looking characters and I still watch it.

Kyle, wow, fantastic picture! Is that from your imagination or you had to look at something and just imitated an already done picture? It's still great-looking, I was just wondering if you thought of the whole pose, angle, setting, effects, and composition yourself or got it from another picture that looks exactly like it.

Don't be too hard on yourself, because Disney forgot it when they did The Little Mermaid animated series! That made that series right after the movie came out, and yet they forgot what their own mermaid looked like! The only excuse could be that in television, you pay less attention to detail and make things easier and quicker to draw, but all they had to do was draw two more lines to show her tail underneath! Maybe they didn't want to have to color in that part differently, but they could at least do the lines.

well, without reference I drew the head first (only without the hat and his eyes were not looking up like they are now, and the partially shown ear was further up
where the hat is on his head) then I found a reference pic of him in the art of disney book. it wasnt filling a whole page or anything, the picture is about the size of
a quarter, and had no shading, it was just thrown onto one of the intro pages. the cliff was kinda already there, but mine is a bit more detailed. I added the magic
dust and trail thing on my own.

that being said though, I can draw him without reference as well. I have a pretty good idea of how the character is structured.

I kinda agree with you on my Azumanga Daioh drawing. I know its kinda akward and off-model, but atleast I tried.

I understand that you don't like the weirdness on Azumanga Daioh, which it is your opinion. My opinion is that I watch something that is entertaining and I found Azumanga Daioh to be as entertaining as any anime I used to watch. The style was weird because of how the characters act, but that's Kyohiko Azuma's style. Still, I find this anime to be entertaining and yet the jokes are kinda catchy. As Escapay once quoted, to each of his/her own.

I also liked Shin-Chan, but I don't watch it very often because of school. Now that my school days are over, I can start watching it again. :P

RyougaLolakie, those are really good. Same with the Mickey that Kyle posted. My second villains collage has been put on hold, mostly since I've been wanting to find some new pictures to use for reference since I only have a small handful of villains at my disposal right now, plus I hurt my hand when moving some heavy furniture  Aside from that I've been working on another fun disney side project for the time being (depends on how much intrest is shown by people).

those are pretty good attempts. i haven't really drawn characters in a long time. the last time i did a disney character was when i was little. i tried drawing Donald's head but it looked more like one of his nephews. and when i'm just drwaing a person guys look more like girls and girls look more like guys. i did try to draw a couple of my teachers and for one i made him look in his 30's and he's in his 70's. but when i draw with a ruler i actually make the genders look like the right gender but i can't do noses since when i draw that way it looks unnatural. the only picture i have ever gotten almost exactly right was a Sunflora from Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal.
members i like:Jasmine1022, Lazario(when he's in a good mood), Escapy, Prudence, Blackcauldron85, Anthony, and Mason Ireton.
