I never even thought about the sisters and how little we know about them. Hopefully in the TLM 3 we will have more information on the whole royal family.

I did a search for TLM dolls and here are some of what I found. (no sisters though)

Yeah Ariels sisters always interested me. Ive always wanted to learn more about them and their backstories. But yeah like everyone else probably thinks, Ive always thought Attina was the oldest of the sisters.

In Kingdom hearts II its definatly Andrina and Attina singing with them, I was bothered how they only put in two of Ariels sisters though...I think they put those two in the song because in the movie Andrina and Attina are the only ones that ever say anything...besides there "Daughters of Triton" song.

uuuuggghhhh in TLMII the sisters were so badly animated! and they were in it for like 2 seconds!

Hopefully in TLMIII there will be more about Tritons daughters.

Exactly my point! I'd like to add, it's not only that fact that bothers me, it's also that her hair has no particular shape and no ends. It's like...Flubber!! I mean, Flubber is fine, but I don't like it for a hair styling!

So Ariel would be the youngest at 16? I think thats how old she is or is that Jasmine?

Yes, Ariel states that she is 16 years old in the movie.

And yes, according to xxplinkxx's picture, it is Andrina and Attina who sing in Kingdom Hearts II. The song is "A New Day Is Dawning", my personal favorite from Atlantica's level, and you can watch them sing it here.


Xxhplinkxx, how did you come up with the correct names, and how do you know theyt are correct for sure?

Now, finally, my thoughts on Ariel's sisters. They are a very mysterious bunch:

Anyone ever notice, each sister's seashells (as scuttle called those bras with the "new seashells?" line) match her tail, but Ariel's seashells are the only ones that don't match her own tail, what with them being purple and her tail being green?

Also, each sister has either brown, black, or blond hair! Only Ariel has red hair! So how in the heck could all of these blood sisters have such different hair colors? I know we don't want to think about it, but what if that's the exact reason we never see Ariel's mother? As in...Triton never married, he slept around, with blond, black, and brown haired mermaids?

There is the possible theory of heredity being suspended/different in Atlantica, which could explain why Triton and Ursula, a merman and an octopus, can be blood siblings (they are reportedly siblings in the upcoming stage musical). However, in the one episode of the television series, King Triton becomes young again under a spell, and is depicted as a small boy with red hair (in fact, I think his nickname was "Red"). So he had red hair, Ariel has red hair, and everyone else has blond, black, or brown hair!

But yeah I always thought that too. Did Triton sleep around with other Merwoman to make all of these different hair colored mermaids? We may never know for sure...I guess since there mermaids, their hair color changes randomly or something..

It could be possible Ariels mom had either Blond, Black or Brown hair, so that would explain one set of the hair colors. I know what episode your talking about Disney Duster, his nickname was/is Red, and I think thats also the name of the episode. Another thing to note in that episode is the witch that Triton banished to the cave, I've always wondered if it's Ursula and Morgana's mother? Since Morgana mentioned their mom in passing but never extrapolated on the subject. I'm wondering if maybe Attina's hair is a less vibrant red, maybe more of a reddish-brown, which could have been caused by their mom's Blond hair? Since blond hair genetics or w/e could have lightened the red genetic thingys (don't you just love my scientific words?) Who sounds smart, I DO Anyways, I remember reading about father/mother traits like eye color/hair color being passed on but I don't remember anything specific, I'll be back when I've figured it out more

Hopefully in The Little Mermaid III they will go into things like the mother and sisters, I mean they make these sequels/prequels and since they make them they should really go into things the consumers want to know....

I personally have always been fasinated by the sisters and such. I was glad as a child that at least 2 of them were in the tv series, I really liked Pearl and Gabriella too

Disney Duster, I know I have all the sisters and the names right from watching the movie and the tv series. In the series theres an episode where they go on vacation and Triton calls them all by name and they all line up in the order in which they were called.

Ive always wondered the same thing about how Ariel is the one with red hair and non matching shells and fins. I too think that this was done to kind of show that Ariel is different than her sisters, almost like she doesnt belong. One theory is that their mothers hair could have been an array of colors?

I also remember that episode from the series when Triton is turned small and has red hair. I think its funny that Ariel and Triton are similar in some ways, yet they butt heads all the time.

The only thing I dont like about the picture is how Arista looks the biggest therefore making her seem like shes the oldest. Which, as many of us have stated, I think Attina is the oldest.

ya I agree, that site is sorta iffy, Attina is def. not the 4th oldest, more like 2nd oldest if not the oldest.

I collect toys, and many are stored away up in my closet and I'm not really sure which I have (I plan to go through them all and list them all soon). However, I know I have at least one doll of one of Ariel's sisters. Not sure which one. I don't think I got it, but I am pretty sure they made a Pearl doll too. I think they only made 2 or 3 of the sisters as dolls.

I didn't know about the Ursula and Triton dolls! Those are awesome! I wonder what else is out there!!! It's fun to discover things like that on Ebay that you didn't know about. I found a plush Disney horse there a couple of times that I'm pretty sure is supposed to be Pecos Bill's Widowmaker. I never got around to bidding on it though. Maybe someday when I have more room. I am overwhelmed with plush toys as it is right now.

Anyway, as for the sisters of Ariel, I never found them anywhere near as appealing as the gorgeous mermaids from Peter Pan. Ariel is easily the most gorgeous of Triton's daughters. That's not to say I don't find the others somewhat attractive though. I've seen all of the show (might have it all recorded, though on scattered tapes, and have all the VHS releases of it), and have most if not all of the U.S. Little Mermaid comics, but my memory is so bad that I couldn't discuss the details of the sisters well right now. Wish they'd release the show on DVD, and that would really improve my memory of it!

Well, we know that Ariel's mother and sisters both feature in the movie, as Tara Strong, who played Melody in TLMII, said she would not be playing her in the thrid film, but some of Ariel's sisters. And Sally Field is set to play Ariel's mother.
