IMO, one of the best moments in Disney animation was from Aladdin, and it's such a tender and little moment that can easily be forgotten five minutes later, but really stuck with me when I first saw the movie.

"One Jump Ahead" (reprise) - Shortly after Aladdin insults Prince Achmed and the gates close on him, he says, "I'm not worthless...and I don't have fleas!", then scratches his head, almost subconsciously scratching away one. As we see him and Abu walk home, he begins singing the reprise against a lot of really grungy and poor-looking areas of Agrabah, and the scene gets progressively darker. When we get to Aladdin's place, it's just a mess of tattered curtains, fallen beams, the slums. And yet, he and Abu are so comfortable here, Abu with his own bed, for example. The best moment is when we're in the semi-darkness of his place, and he pulls away the curtain, and we just see this spectacular view of the palace, shining in the moonlight. That one little moment gave so much to the character, showed just how *lucky* he truly was. Wonderful animation, song, and score.

The Beast's transformation back into the Prince (music, animationm, effects...*shiver*).

Peter and the Darling children's flight over London.

The opening sequence to Return To Never Land (Tink flying through the clouds).

Quasimodo's inspired "Out There" sequence.

Mulan's walk into her house right after deciding to replace her father (the music is sooo powerful).

Simba's walk up Pride Rock in the rain after defeating Scar.

Simba's encounter with his father's spirit.

...and as far as CG animation goes, the creation of Aslan will always put me in awe.
:pan: Love It.

My personal favorite scene in a Disney movie is from Cinderella, when the mice and birds are making Cinderella's dress as they sing "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes." I remember thinking it was so creative; as a kid, I was fascinated to watch how these little tiny animals worked together to redo the dress. There are a lot of others I love, but most of them have already been mentioned here.

Aren't they singing "The Work Song" in this scene?

Well, technically no. They sing "The Work Song" right before it, then the girl mouse in yellow with the needle sends Jaq and Gus off to get eaten by Lucifer so she can take over/ Get some beads and a sash. Then they come back and do a squeaky rendition of "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes", and during that, a mouse narrowly escapes his head getting punctured by a needle, perhaps the same needle of that mouse in yellow who wants to take over!!!

Anyway, Flanger-Hanger, I don't remember that much from The Great Mouse Detective, but I do remember when the mechanical queen malfunctioned, and that SCARED THE CRAP out of me. It really affected me. Another piece of animation that still affects me emotionally to this very day is when King Triton destroys Ariel's grotto. That almost made me think of him as a villain, and I didn't get why he was nice in the end...I don't know I feel very bad when things are destroyed, I feel...like I'm being destroyed, I guess, or I feel bad for the objects being destroyed.

One of my favorite movie moments is the dance sequence in Snow White, it just reminds me of a family reunion where alot of fun is going on. Another I like is when Sleeping Beauty's fairy Godmothers enter Maleficent's domian.

I have a couple scenes I love:

When Simbe Scorn down at Scar- pure brillient intimidation act.

When Brom Bones make that goofy face before singing the song of he headless horseman.

Chernabog scenes- he's a GOD!!!!!

The Mad Hatter scene- I always get a crack at this scene.

Aurora entering the forest giving that beautiful high note.

Frollo's Hellfire and when Quasi broke free from the chain- pure mence

Scene I fear: When the clocks woke up Jimminy cricket. That scene scared the crap out of me. Those eyes he made, the silent noise with tick tack noise from clock, the darkness.....

Since a couple of people are shocked at my non-Alice response (and because many people are starting to list more than one), I'll placate them and set the world in balance again by naming my favorite bit from Alice:

The entire finale chase is absolutely brilliant in its randomness and insanity. Up until this point, the film has been bizarre, but it's during this sequence that whatever restraint the filmmakers were exercising up to this point was completely cut loose. I love the image of Alice and the Queen both running up symmetrical ramps made of cards. As the scene progresses, it becomes more and more outrageous. Not only are we seeing Wonderland characters after Alice who previously showed no ill will towards her, but we then see the story-within-the-story characters from The Walrus and the Carpenter involved, too for no apparent reason. The Hatter and Hare shoving Alice into the giant tea cup and her coming out in a sea of tea is so gleefully surreal. The smoke rings turning into a tunnel which in turn dissolves into crimson red is just pure eye candy. This chase acts as a curtain call of sorts. All the major characters make a final appearance (well, except the flowers, but maybe having them run after Alice would be a little TOO odd, if possible). It's one of the most energetic, twisted, and colorfully striking pieces of animation Disney's done.

There, you can rest easy, now. ;)

Hellfire, particiularyly the part when frollo sees Esmerelda in the fireplace
it's been one of my favorite scenes even since I was a kid.

Firebird suite, this whole sequence in Fantasia 2000 is just amazing, one of the best works Disney has put out.

and lastly the finale of Pocohontas. I can't really decide what makes this scene so amazing, just everything about it makes it so emotional and powerful that it takes your breath away.

*Honorable Mentions*

when the Beast transfoms into the prince.

Part of your world

When Aurora is hypnotized and following Malificents voice to the spinnign wheel.

Disney-Fan wrote:Ariel's transformation from Mermaid to human has to be one of the most stunning, shocking, visually impressive scenes I have ever seen. That would be my favourite. A close second would be John Smith and Pocahontas' first meeting. Subtle beyond words, yet so effective.
I agree, the moment when she bursts out of the water is breathtaking in my opinion!

Okay my faves!

Ariels transformation to human, from when she sings to the moment when she first come above the water and her hair makes that sexy movement.

Then when she is crying as she sees the wedding ship with Eric and Ursula depart into the sunset. How much she would like to have been on that boat! And the music is just amazing.

Beaty and the Beast. Two shots! As mentioned by Merxan the opening shot of the movie where we get to see the castle with the deer drinking water. I love the music and the way they depict the history of the story with "coloured glass" Donno what its named in english. And the transformation scene at the end gives me shivers! That moment is so powerfull with the music and the rose peddle's.

Bother Bear transformation from Human to Bear. SHIVERS!

In "Alice in Wonderland" with the oisters that get eaten! The baby oister and the mother oister, awww so cute! And the smoking catapillar always scared me!

The "Do you trust me?" scene at the beginning of Alladin when Jasmin comes into his hideout and they look at the palace.

Lady and the Tramp when lady is in the dog pound and Peg sings her song with the crying dogs in the background. Marvelous!

And so many more......

You know, there is a Briar Rose Armani sculpture in existence. It's not her individually, she's sitting on a tree trunk and she has all of her forest friends with her. IMHO, the most beautiful Disney Armani ever.

Actually, I can go further than that. There's another Armani Aurora statue out that has her alone and in her blue (!) dress. Check it out:

My favorite peice of animation is definatley Maleficent's transformation into the dragon in Sleeping Beauty. It's very intense and it is accompanied by the best line in the whole film:

"Now shall you deal with me o' prince, and all the powers of hell!"

Pure (albiet dark) Disney magic. Man, I wish I had a gif of that.

Also, the entire Hellfire sequence from The Hunchback of Notredame is very powerful.

The Little Mermaid inspired me to draw, and it's inspired me since to go to school for animation. I still remember seeing it, 10 days after my 5th birthday, it was cold and rainy. Just seeing the expressions on Ariel's face, and especially in her eyes. I knew from that moment, what I wanted to do.

1) Part of Your World - When she does the little spin in the rays of light, and sings the line "Up where they stay all day in the sun, wondering free, wish I could be, Part of that World."

2) Part of Your World (Reprise) - The famous splash scene, just the look in her eyes, the words in her song. It's such a moving moment, you can feel the excitement.

3) Ariel's Transformation (Ending) - From the sparkles to her dress, to the amazing sunshine behind the storm clouds. You can totally sense the happiness and joy, when shes walking ashore with her arms wide open. This scene has some of the best expressions of Ariel's face.

4) Bella Note - When they do the slow motion close up of Lady, the beautiful loving face she does, is one of the best pieces of the Golden Disney era. It is truly perfect, the sparkle in her eyes gives it that extra magic touch.
