No, but it just shows how infamous this commercial is in the UK, it's so loathed that urban legends are starting about it!

You mean - "Don't tell Dave, he always has to be the fun guy"? For some reason, that makes me feel like it's got to be Taco Bell... I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time. It's just that they never followed the commercial with that infernal "I'm lovin' it," but for some reason I feel like I remember the "think outside the bun" of TB.

numba1lostboy wrote:the other McD's ads bug me because they're all trying to make McD's seem like such a classy place...but it's McDonald's...
I still love McDonalds. It's hard to stop. They're such a big part of childhood. I used to love Burger King when I was a kid because they had those silver / gold colored crowns and they had a great playground - until, you know, the world of Playgrounds became too "dangerous" for children and they felt they had to change everything to make it more safe for kids. The first thing they did was close the outside playyard down completely. Now they might have an indoor one, I'm not sure. I think we all know McDonalds usually has one - my local one does. But I'm telling you, that Pool of Plastic Balls will never replace that big slide with all the walls. Why do they have to make all big slides small? Don't these kids have parents to help watch them? Train whatever employee is on their break to watch the kids, make sure they don't fall. Anyway, I'm drifting. The best thing about McDonalds is that it's still easy to love their food. Yes, they still play too much with their original recipes. But there's always something there to love. I wish they'd get onion rings - I always hated the fact that the inferior Burger King has them but McDonalds doesn't. But then, maybe Burger King doesn't have chicken nuggets.

numba1lostboy wrote:And the subway commercials with Jon Lovitz? Those make me cringe.
But... I like Jon Lovitz. He's always at least a little funny. A League of Their Own - he was hilarious!

I don't have the same problem as you because I would say it's a question of maturity and general compassion. But I won't say that to you because I sort of hate those commercials too. Just because I think we all know that the people don't really have these things - they're just models. I disagree with using fake people for the fact that, attractive people don't make something like genital sexual diseases any more attractive. And it also makes the industry of lying to people about Cause and Effect all the more easy. I'm trying to make a reference to those Weight Gain and Loss supplements / exercise machines and videos. I'd always like to think these people are actually on the real level about having actually worked hard to look the way they look. For some people, it just comes naturally. The Before and After thing. I hate thinking that I might be being-lied to about that. At least, I did when I was more overweight. Now, I just hate the phoniness for the sake of other people.

OMG. Not that thing. To make a Disney related comparison, that commercial makes the combinded force of the waiting area for Dumbo, the Hall of Presidents and the constantly ticking clock outside DLP's It's a Small World seem nice. To make matters worse, I've been essentially forced to see that advert all big at the cinema three times (it was shown before Over the Hedge, Cars and Monster House at my cinema that I normally go to).

I also hate traffic safety warnings (in England, they seem to consist of gory worst case scenarios) and really cheesy "brand power" adverts tthat they have over here in the UK (a kind of informercial shown on normal advertising slots featuring well-known brands). Then of course, there's ads which are so bad they rock; Americans, meet the English legend that is Barry Scott.

That was hilarious. I just hope that kid didn't die in reallife like has been thought, as otherwise, I'd look like a total pig for enjoying that clip.

Oh, I love those ads, regardless of whether they wore out their welcome a bit. I especially love the first Christmas with grandkids one (do they have that stateside?), the Muppets in New York one and the Simpsons one.

No, thst one is Taco Bell. I'm talking about the ad with the guy in the office watching all of his co-workers waste time. There's one girl that's putting white-out on her nails to look like a French manicure. The guy say something like "Should've had snacktime." It makes me gag.
:pan: Love It.

Really? I just thought those commercials were annoying as hell which is one of the many reasons why I don't watch TV that much. Mainly because it fills my mind with crap I don't care about. Now calculus, there's something useful. ;)

You see that's what they need, a calculus channel or something.
"Today on the Derivative Show we will be solving derivatives of polynomials." And then the commercials would be calculators, notebooks, text books and what not. Now that's something I would like to see on TV.

Well, I think my favourite TV ad ever, is an old Meadowlea commercial. I think it must be British produced. I don't see it on Maltese TV anymore.

"Little engines need good oils"

You see a mother hanging clothes and a little boy with a toy airplane bumps into her.

"Like the canola and sunflower oils in Meadowlea..."

Boy is playing with his toys. Mother spreads some Meadowlea on a slice of bread, and proceeds to cuddle her infant.

"So if you're giving you little engines the good oils..."

Mother is reading a magazine. Boy passes by playing with a toy lawnmower and startles her. She realizes this, and rolls her eyes and smiles.

"You ought to be congratulated!"

It's so sweet! :D :D

I was just watching one of my The Nanny tapes (episodes of the show off Lifetime) and stumbled across a commercial I really like - Anyone remember those Toys R Us commercials with the store full of Singing Rabbits - "Here comes Peter Cottontail, hoppin' down the Bunny Trail, hippity-hoppin', Easter's on it's way!" and the talking Giraffe says, "alright! Alright! We'll have a big Easter sale! Just make 'em stop!"

Oh, man, I hate that fake-old six flags guy! I also hate six flags. They least they could do to make it more interesting for me is put more Lola Bunny or DC superhero stuff in the gift shops. The rides stink because they're just roller coasters and merry go round stuff. All they ever have worth doing for non-coaster people like me are the log rides, which are too short and have too long of a line. Well, sorry for that rant. But they SHOULD make rides like Disney used to, and Disney should also.

Sorry for posting in this old thread, but I had a very strange experience right now.
I was searching for an olt TV/ cinema ad on youtube and the only vids I found were from Germany. So I was searching just for the song but didn't have international results either. You have to know that this commercial is really a part of my childhood and I feel still connected to it.
It's an ice-cream commercial by "Langnese" (Unilever, Wall's, Good Humor etc.) and I ever thought it was an international campaign. The song was (in remixes and variations) over 20 years in use and I have it still every time in mind when I'm eating an ice. It's just a prime example for THE perfect advertising.
I just want to know if you guys really don't had these commercials in your country and if you know the song itself:

Thank you guys :)

EDIT: I just found this, so my faith in the world is restored.^^
