What about Bane (don't count Batman and Robin appearance because he wasn't plantlike in the comic books) they can make a movie based on Knightfall and KnightEnds from the comic books that took place in the early 1990's. I think the comic event ran as Knightfall and Knightends for 1993-1994. The issues that feature Knightfall and KnightEnd were Batman, Detective Comics and Showcase '93.
The story was about Bane causing major problems for Batman unleashing all of the most deadly villains from Arkham Asylum including Joker, Two-Face, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy and other more. When Batman put all the villains back in Arkham Asylum he was very tired and so was Robin (Tim Drake). Bane somehow found out who Batman was and where he lived he attack with the help of his henchmen and then Bane broke Batman's back.
At that time Robin went out with his girlfriend on a date or something like that. Now Robin (Tim Drake) and Nightwing (First Robin Dick Grayson) are looking to find a new replacement for Batman. They found Jean Paul Valley (who was formally known as Azrael) who took over the mantle and also created a new costume and took on Bane and beat Bane at the end of Knighfall.
In Knightquest Jean Paul Valley was learning how to fight better as Batman and even had a advantage over his villains due to his armor suit even the Joker tried to kill the new Batman but he failed as always. At that time in KnightEnd Batman (Jean Paul Valley) was going insane and killing villains instead of giving them Justice. At that point he kicks out Robin and put new passwords and codes for entering the Batcave. During this time Bruce Wayne was on a mission to cure his back and learn how to fight again with the help of Lady Shiva.
This is when Catwoman and Robin had their own series and the crossover help them in the sales. In some issues of Robin, Nightwing would help the new Boy Wonder. Then finally at the end of KnightEnd Batman (Bruce Wayne), Catwoman, Robin and Nightwing all fought Batman (Jean Paul Valley). But then Bruce wanted to face Jean Paul Valley one on one or in his words man to man.
Then Dick Grayson took over Batman mantle for some issues finding out that he wasn't good as Batman or Robin but was better as Nightwing.
Then Batman (Bruce Wayne) became Batman once and for all.
Here's a site for the break down for each issues:
