I heard on Richard Brigante's "Inside the Magic" WDW podcast yesterday that a Sr. Disney official announced to cast members via email that "Pirates of the Caribbean" in Disneyland AND the Magic Kingdom would be closing on March 3rd this year for the much rumored "enhancements", that is, adding Captain Jack Sparrow and Commodore Barbosa and other characters from the "Pirates" movie franchise. They claim they are only adding, not taking away from the classic ride, and that they will both reopen in time for this summer's release of "Dead Man's Chest". There is more to the story, so I suggest listening to the podcast if you want all the details.
I have mixed feelings about this. While it would be neat to see animatronic figures of Depp and Co., Pirates is one of those classic rides that has defined Disney Theme Parks, and I'd hate to see it get bastardized in the name of profits. I mean, they didn't put an Eddie Murphy figure in the Haunted Mansion (mostly because that movie stunk), and the Mansion is just as well-known as Pirates.
What do you all think?

Yes, that's mostly how I feel about it, but now that I realize that there won't be any major changes, I'm optimistic.MikeyMouse wrote:
