There are so many... but the first five off the top of my head are...:

1)Madame Mim
2)Ursula
3)Medusa
4)Cruella DeVill
5)Yzma

yknow... i noticed a few things about animated disney villians...
they're more often female then they are male, and purple (and sometimes red as well) seems to be their main color scheme.... why is that?? :?

Disney Villains discussion

Post by Lumiere »

All Disney villains are great!!
They all play an important role in the movies, its designs are cool!!
I love some of their phrases like:

Maleficent: "They are a disgrace for the forces of evil" or "You really think you could defeat me, ME the mistress of all evil!!"
Jafar: "how many times do I have to kill you boy!"

So I was wondering, which villain is your favorite?! which one is the scariest? your favorite phrase??

MALEFICENT is the best villain

THE HORNED KING from the black couldron is the scariest!!

I'm slightly obsessed with Maleficent. I really think she is everything a villain should be, from appearance to dialogue to action.

My favorite aspect of any Disney movie has always been the villains, and the fact they are so popular (they even have a cult following within the group of Disney fans in general) really speaks to their potency. They generally share common facial characteristics and the animators really know how to illustrate evil. I like some more than others, but Maleficent is definitely my favorite.

Weaker villains, in my opinion, would be Frollo and the villains from Fox & the Hound, Mulan, Yzma, and Hades. They aren't bad, but are either too undefined or too comical. Chernobog looks the part and fits in among the others, but his role isn't quite villainous enough to be among my favorites.

Of course, we'll get to see the whole site's favorites in the upcoming site countdown!

My favorite bad guys are Jafar and Scar. I love it when Jafar screams, "How many times do I have to kill you boy?!" And Jeremy Irons is just the best as Scar.

:o !!! Frollo's by far my favorite villain! I love how complex and tortured \his character is and what's truly frightening and menacing about him is the fact that he's not some sorcerer with infinite powers, but a normal man who not only does evil, but actually believes he's going good. That to me is far creepier than someone who does a ton of flashy magic tricks (not to undermine villains like Maleficent or Jafar, whom I also love; I just think Frollo outstrips the competition considerably).

Which is strange, because aside from A.I. we usually have fairly similar taste. To be fair, though, I haven't watched Hunchback since its VHS release.

Need I even reply? MALEFICENT is my favorite by a shot so long, it's not even funny! Jafar comes in second, but all pale in comparisson the ultimate mistress of a evil! Villains rule. They just have bad luck. Plus: the three faries told Phillip in the dungeon that he would have to face the dangers ahead alone, yet, they put a spell on his sword so he could slay Maleficent! What cheaters!

I love Disney Villians they are the best part of some of the films for me. My favourites are Ursula, Maleficent and Hades.
Urs - because I love The little mermaid, and her song 'Poor unfortunate souls', Maleficent - because of her voice and fear she creates just by her presence and Hades because I like Greek gods and his humour. 8)

I always find Shan Yu very evil.. he seems so real and determined to bring down the Chinese empire.. his determination makes him real and evil. I'd say him and Maleficent are the two most evil villains... and Frollo too.

Great idea for discussion! I love Disney Villains (hence the name). They are my favorite part of each of the animated films. They have some great designs and their characterisitcs are great. My all time favorite Villain would have to be Ursula. I love her attitude and some of her actions and one liners ("Don't under estimate the power of body language!") are great. Close behind are Hades and Frollo. Hades, because he is so comical yet at the same time evil. Frollo, because I think he was was of the most realsitic villains with such a great voice. Can't wait for the site's countdown...
"I admit that in the past I've been a nasty. They weren't kidding when they called me, well, a witch"
-Ursula

"How sentimental. You know I haven't been this choked up since I got a hunk of moussaka caught in my throat."-Hades
