I was a half vegan once. And I too am prone to eating disorders. I didn't eat any meat, however, I drank milk and ate eggs.
I know exactly what you mean about going out to eat as a vegan! IMPOSSIBLE!
And then in high school, I was in a Food Science class. We had to do an experiment where we made the same cake, but each group used a different ingriedient. Butter, Margarine, Oil, and Lard. Figures, my group got the Lard. I was okay with making the cake, but I went to the teacher and told her I could not complete the experiment for I would not eat the cake with the lard in it. She told me it wasn't my religious belief not to eat meat and I won't taste it anyways. Back and forth we went with
You can't taste it.
Yeah, but I know it is still there.
Over and over again. Finally she told me to eat the cake or get an F. I didn't eat the cake, she gave me an F. I went to the dean's office and talked with with dean and then had my mother threaten the dean with a lawsuit because though it was not in my religion, it was a spiritual reason I did not eat meat at the time. Also this was during my time after I got a cow's tooth in a burger and was pretty traumatized by it. The dean forced the teacher to turn my F into a C and she forever hated me.
But yeah, the cow's tooth. Got a burger at Burger King once and it was in it. Along with an unidentified bone. We brought it to the attention of the manager and he was a jerk. We weren't sue happy people and at the time, my mom figured I was just going through a stage of disgust over it and would get better and be back to eating meat. That one tooth is one of the things triggered my eating disorders later in life. We look back now and wish we did sue them. But what can you do now? He took the tooth and threw it away and offered us a free meal (yeah, like we wanted a burger from them after that!) So I am okay now with eating chicken and turkey and pork (but only as breakfast sausage or in Chinese fried rice). But to this day, red meat literally makes me vomit, if I taste it. It use to be worse, the mere sight of it made me sick. I got better, but if I accidently taste it, I feel sick. If it touches my plate, then everything must go. My father played a trick on me one day at Disney World and mixed his vegtables that were soaked in meat juice on my plate and I didn't know. I took a bite and thankfully got to the bathroom in time. Of course the Disney people were freaking thinking it was something in the food that did it

But, no, it was my father thinking he was cute.
Totally off topic now...sorry...But I did mention Disney World
