Pixar's Onward
Re: Pixar's Onward
Here's the English version of that trailer, which is slightly different from the UK one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWZbiGwTqisClindor wrote:New Onward trailer! (but only in French for now, sorry guys);

(if you need help for translation on certain parts though, just ask for it!)
I noticed that the Japanese title has the numbers "2" and "1" in it and I'm curious about what the movie is called there. Could it be the same title than in Brazil, Two Brothers: One Fantastic Journey?Sotiris wrote:Japanese poster and trailer. Unsurprisingly, this trailer is the best one yet.

True, but still the trailer was quite silly in tone, despite it's serious first half. But I'm still interested in this movie and I'm going to give it a shot, nonetheess. I like the posters, though. Honestly, I still kind of want to see it due to how cute it is. I did like Monsters University which Dan directed so this may have a chance of being even better than that.

I think it looks fine. The older brother looks annoying, but the smart alec character is part of Disney/PIXAR's stale and unending formula.

Re: Pixar's Onward
Dan Scanlon was at CCXP were he talked about Onward (duh). He spoke to us about how personal the project is, loosing his father at a young age, he showed us the tape with his father's voice saying "hi" and "bye" and the project seemed very personal to him and it made me get even more excited about it (also, he seems like a really nice guy).
He also showed us a few clips, including the one shown at D23, where the boys get the stone and bring half of their dad to life. In the second one, the boys get into an altercation with biker fairies. Barley start to talk to some of them and offend them saying they don't fly because they started using their bikes ("you're calling me lazy?"). After Barley throws all their bikes to the ground, they try to run away in their van (with their disguised dad), with Ian driving, since Barley is the victim of a miniaturizing spell gone wrong. HUGE and fun road pursuit with the fairies.
In the third scene, Ian and Barley are stuck in a canyon, and Barley prompts Ian to go to the other side to lower a bridge using a trust-bridge-spell (it will only work if the caster trusts that an invisible bridge will be there to catch their feet). Ian isn't believing a whole lot, so Barley ties him up and they try the spell. Ian steps into the void and falls, and Barley convinces him that since he isn't dead, the worst thing that could have happened already did, so they try again. This time it works and Ian goes on, but midway the rope ends and unties Ian, who keeps going without realizing that he's not secured anymore. Barley is freaking out but tells Ian to keep going, but Ian is getting cocky and making fun of it all, making awkward steps and having fun. When he's one step away from the other side, he looks back to Barley to realize he has all the rope in his hands and looses his trust, falling. He manages to hold on to a rock and saves himself. Very thrilling scene.

movie looks cute but I wish it wasn't so grounded in the contemporary setting. It would have been more interesting if the modern day brothers would have been completely transported to a real old school fantasy world and had to deal with being out of their element, or the older brother realizing that in reality such a world wouldn't be as awesome as he'd think(b/c of how dangerous it actually is.)

Re: Pixar's Onward
Thanks for the tidbits, rodrigo_ca. Sounds good so far, to me anyway.
I think I'll end up enjoying this in part because of the theme and the personal connection the director has to this. I actually saved a message of my aunt's voice from an answering machine after she died in fall 2016. It was at the same time Lady Gaga put out an album that was about her own aunt that had passed; I remembered because I thought it was funny... I've been saving messages of different family members since then because when I heard the message of my aunt after she had already passed, it made me think about how I can only barely remember my grandparents' voices (they died in 2000 and 2001). It's morbid, but you never know when somebody's going to be gone.

Thank you so much for the info and the footage description, rodrigo_ca! Sounds like the movie will be a lot of fun. And I'm sure it will also make us cry. There are also some details about the presentation in this article.rodrigo_ca wrote:Dan Scanlon was at CCXP were he talked about Onward (duh). The characters look a smidge cuter in the drawings for that coloring book cover. The ears in particular come across pointier.

Wikipedia says that Selena Gomez, Kamil McFadden, Kellan Lutz, Billy Crystal, Mandy Patinkin, Emily Blunt and Haley Tju are all now part of the voice cast forthis movie is tha true ? Or is this just random trolling ?
All have specific roles list such as Selena Gomez as Starlight The Unicorn,Kellan Lutz as Phil Lightfoot, the father of Ian and Barley, Billy Crystal as Wes the Gnome, Mandy Patinkin as Felix the Sprite
and Emily Blunt as Sabrina, Wes’ wife.
Haley Tju will apparently voice Abigail Lightfoot, the younger sister of Ian and Barley.

Don't trust Wikipedia in things like that unless there is a reliable source, which is not the case here. An extended list of voice actors have been deleted there before. It could be true, but nobody knows for sure unless there is a link you can follow.DisneyFan97 wrote:Wikipedia says that Selena Gomez, Kamil McFadden, Kellan Lutz, Billy Crystal, Mandy Patinkin, Emily Blunt and Haley Tju are all now part of the voice cast forthis movie is tha true ? ^Thanks, DisneyFan09!
The actors who voice the three police officers and their names have also been announced:

Ali Wong voices Gore, Lena Waithe is Specter, and Mel Rodriguez provides the voice for Colt Bronco.
More character posters here: https://twitter.com/pixaronward/status/ ... 8709273600
A new trailer will be released tomorrow. I guess it's the final one.
