If you're going to track down the book, read the whole series! At least read "The Book of Three" before you read the actual "The Black Cauldron"...a lot of the plot of the TBC movie comes from The Book of Three. :)

Enjoy, though! That whole series is great.

there doesn't seem to be many people who consider this a Disney movie, but it was a joint Disney/Paramount Production.

I just recently purchased a copy of "Dragonslayer" on DVD. I just watched it in my home theater on my 9' wide projected screen. It was great! that's one that I haven't watched since I was young and it still held up as a great movie!! I comment about it on my blog at www.denniswest.com

Cinderella on its release day... the first time I'd seen it in about 2.5 years. I'll post my thoughts on the DVD itself in another thread once I get around to finishing up its content. I fell in love with the movie all over again, of course. The one aspect of it that I enjoyed more than I ever had before was its humor... intentional humor. Maybe it's because I watched it with a bunch of other people, but it's really funny, with the funniest moment probably being the king falling over the rail. Or maybe I'm just a dork...

Tower of Terror - Of course I enjoy the WDW tie-in, but never having ridden the ride, I don't have much to relate to here. Still, I've always wanted to see it and now I finally have, courtesy of The Disney Channel. It's an acceptable Halloween flick but is very much a TV movie and can really only be enjoyed on the surface.

And there were also the three Halloweentown movies, but I've already written plenty on my thoughts on those.

The Rescuers: I was afraid that being an old movie and not a particular well known for, I wasn't going to like it. But I did.

At the beginning of the film I thought that because most of the movie is set at night I wasn't going to like it (not that I don't like dark movies, I do. But for a Disney film...). I quickly got used to it and started to get the feeling of the suspense/adventure.

It is really a very nice movie that makes you feel as if you were part of it.

The only thing I didn't like was Madame Medusa. Not that I dislike her in particular but she was very, very painful to look at. Not only her character design is horrible, and that face fill with makeup... even her hair! But I keep on thinking: how come Disney gave green light to this if it certainly looks like that character was a pain in the a$% to animate. Plus, the red color of her hair: red fluorescent?! It really hurt my eyes to look at. I just don't know how Disney could have chosen that as a good color.

Other than that, I liked the film.

Song of the South

First time I had seen it. Definitely not as boring as I thought it would be (although my bf slept through most of it) and I really enjoyed the animated parts since Splash Mountain is one of my favorite rides. After the slow beginning it got more interesting although it could probably have used another animated segment. And the tar baby part really made me laugh after hearing about the controversy (and the glue baby  ).

Also, really not as controversial/racist as I thought it would be.

All in all, not the best Disney movie I've ever seen, but definitely not the worst.

Cinderella - What a movie. Feels so fresh, so completely new and modern. I enjoyed everything about it. It's been 7 years too long since I last saw this masterpiece. The animation is magnificent, and holds well against today's modern and advanced animation techniques! I haven't checked the DVD out (that came with a slipcover! First time in ages) but I'll be sure to do so in the next few days!

Lilo and Stitch - I can sum my thoughts about this movie in one sentence. For a movie defined comedy, I was an the verge of crying quite a lot. Touching movie, truely unique!

Like pretty much everyone else, I watched Cinderella. What a classic. I'll post my full thoughts on the set (and the movie) soon in the "your thoughts" thread.

The Lion King 1 1/2: I rented it and since it was really funny, I decided to buy it before it went OOP. While it isn't as funny when you watch it multiple times, it still is HEE-LARIOUS. Scenes like when Timon is alone in the room and picks his nose, the whole Timon/Pumbaa mission with the Peter Gunn theme and when Timon proposes to Shenzi! PRICELESS! :D  rotfl Overall it's not the type of movie to watch over and over again, but it's still a hilarious movie that's easily the best cheapquel Disney has made(even better than Simba's Pride). 8/10

Lady and the Tramp: I haven't seen this movie in a LONG time! I think it's at least been 5 years. I mean I don't remember anything about it. But from what I remembered, it was pretty decent. So I decided to watch it since the platinum is coming out soon and it's often reffered to as Disney's best, I must say I was quite disappointed. It was way too short. I mean there is just something missing. Missing climax scene, missing song, I don't know what, but this movie needed to add something. It just went by too quick. The music was pretty good, but I would put any of those songs with my all time favorite Disney songs. Plus the story really takes a while to really pick up. Maybe I would've liked it if I was a huge dog-lover, but I just found it, rather boring. Overall not the worst Disney movie out there, but not the best IMO. However it's still a better than the Little Mermaid(however there have been so many Little Mermaid threads, I would probably like Cinderella 2 better!) 5/10

There are two Disney TV movies I saw in particular:

Mystery in Dracula's Castle: Not bad for a Halloween movie.

The Mystery of Edward Sims: The last of the "Gallegher" series

Both TV movies are from these two programs WWOC and WWOD. When I was recording on my DVD-R, I convert those 2-part TV movies into one entire film minus the preview of next week's show and the recap from last week show.

Something Wicked This Way Comes: That movie starred Jason Robards. Not a bad underrated Disney movie in 1983.

Mickey's House of Villains: Excellent film with Mickey and the gang along with the cast of many.

Monkey's Go Home!: Great comedy with Dean Jones.

That's what I feel whenever I get a chance to watch it, but I think that's what they were striving for with Madame Medusa. I think they wanted her to be an eyesore to look at because she was an evil woman. The Rescuers--other than that--is a good one to watch.

We finally got Cinderella in to rent out at work, and I wanted to check out the special features before I actually buy it. Liking it, but I agree with the reviews...they could've thrown more special features in and a commentary track or something. I was kind of disappointed.

Well's it's been a while since I've seen this movie but my mom bought Cinderella on DVD and we just watched that. Seeing how it's been a while since I've seen it I never realized how much an a%@hole her step sisters and step mother were. But it's about time that we got another Disney movie on DVD I mean the only one I have is Bambi PE and I had that since it first came out.

Just watched Cinderella. I just love the "sing sweet nightingale sequence". I just liked how the voices switched from the ugly, out of tune voices of the stepsister into the beautiful voice of cinderella while she was washing the floor.

Like everyone else here, I just saw Cinderella. I finally got the PE yestarday. I have Cinderella on VRC too so haven't seeing it in a long time wasn't the case for me. I really enjoyed it. I loved Cinderella as a character but Jaq and Gus stole the show for me. Gus was so funny.

What I found odd was on the DVD, was the ESPN classics. Now I know they're "Cinderella" stories but it still seems kinda weird that they put that on the DVD. I'm not trying to be sexist here but Cinderella is a pretty girly Disney movie and ESPN appeals to a manly crowd. Huh, maybe it's for the dads

Cinderella: The Manly Movie

Post by Disney Duster »

TashieGirl wrote:I'm not trying to be sexist here but Cinderella is a pretty girly Disney movie and ESPN appeals to a manly crowd.
People keep forgetting that Cinderella is a movie that was made almost entirely by men. With mice nearly getting killed by a huge, roaring cat, guards galloping on black steeds as they fiercely chase a nearly floating coach, an angry, red-faced king hacking away at a duke with a sword, and a pyrotechnic show of white sparkles, you've got an action-packed, special effects extravaganza! Cinderella is my favorite Disney movie and I'm a boy. So please, think before you say Cinderella is girly.

Well I didn't mean to hurt your feelings  . What I meant to say is that it appeals to more of a girly audience but I'm aware with the fact that alot of guys like the movie.
