FINALLY!!! Thank god for Ariel's Beginning! And before some of you go jumping down my throat, I don't mean the entire thing, mostly just the part with her and her sisters.

I loved every second of it. I Kind of wish they would make another TV Series just so we can see more of them. And I hope now more than ever that they do start an "Ariel and her Sisters" or a "Mermaids" line!

The only thing that kind of bothered me about the sisters was Andrina's voice and how she sounded kind of dumb cause if you go back and watch the original, they sound nothing alike. (Right before Under The Sea when they're telling Triton she's in love.) But then I think about it and I just remember that they're younger and it's okay cause I can see her maturing more and her voice changing a little which leads to how she is in the movie.

Aquata's dancing was hilarious!! lol.

The only one I felt was a little underdeveloped was Alana, compared to the others.

Oh, I was totally right about Attina being the oldest! :pink:

Anywho, what did you guys think of the girls??

I loved every scene that had the sisters involved in it. Seeing Attina kind of be the lead sister was nice. She was the most serious and kind of understood her fathers pain more than any of them.

And it looks like after Triton becomes more laid back after this, Alana and Arista become the wildest of the sisters (also taking from the tv series)

And seeing some of them fight was funny.

Well I must admit, the sisters were probably my only favorite thing about the movie. I liked each of the sisters and their different personalities. Honestly though I felt Aquata was the most under developed, though her dancing was funny lol. Every one else had something particular about them.

1. Attina- the oldest and the leader of the bunch.
2. Andrina- The witty sarcastic one.
3. Aquata- ....the bad dancer.
4. Alana- The Glamourous one.
5. Adella- The boy crazy one.
6. Arista- The simple not so bright one.

My favorite line was....

Aquata: Oooooh past the kelp forest! It wasn't a boy...it was a baaaad boy!
Arista: OH ARIEL!

I think Attina needs a new hairstyle...its funky. It looked better down when she was brushing it lol. And they actually all looked A LOT prettier then in the original movie...this is an instant where I actually wish they would re-draw the scenes with them in the original...but of course keep the original version on it aswell. I just hate how they all have the same exact face!

Well in the deleted scene it looked like they let Attina keep her hair down when they went to go on their daily walk. But I agree, but I guess her style allows her to look older and more mature. But I was wishing they would let her take off her crown whenever they went to bed.

HAHA! I loved that line!

And I agree, I was hoping to be able to see them without their headdress when they slept.

Well, I didn't find the sisters horrible, but they were a bit generic. To be honest, I like their personalities in the series better--their voices, too. Attina was nice though. And I like her hair! :P

Well in AB they dont have near as much freedom as they do in the series. They have a nanny who is in charge of looking after them and Triton probably didnt let them do anything outside of the palace.

I think once they got to explore some more and not be so confined their personalities start to shift a little bit and they become the sisters we saw in the series.

Does anyone have the Ariel and sisters figures that I think were sol in the Disney store? I got mine from eBay and <3 them. I'd actually like to read some (well written) fan fiction about the sisters!

If you mean the ones with the really stylized designs, extremely curvy looking, I wanted those so bad and will definitely Ebay them at some point! Probably want them even more now.

Definitely, all the stuff we got about the sisters was the best aspect of this film. I liked the visuals a lot too, and if only the Disney direct to video stuff were all animated this well I think the line would have been much better received (though they still needed to improve the writing on most of the projects too, including the songwriting). But, yeah, LOVED the fact that we got to see the sisters so much here, and I fell totally in love with Arista! Well, I still prefer Ariel though, of course. I wonder if she's one of the fashion dolls I have up in my closet from when they had a couple of Ariel's sisters at Target in the Little Mermaid doll line. Anywho, when it comes to canon though, I choose to go with the TV series. I found its "prequelization" much more believable. I wish I had watched it recently though. Don't remember exactly how the sisters were depicted. And I did remember, AFTER watching the film, about how they had distinct voices in the original that were totally different here...

Yup, I definitely wish they would have gotten similar voices to the ones in the original, but it seems they chose voices to match their personalities.

Anywho, I was just checking out the game on the DVD that lets you go into the Sisters Vanities! I got some interested stuff. The age that is stated for all the girls are as follows:

Attina 21
Alana 20
Adella 19
Aquata 18
Arista 17
Andrina 16
Ariel 15

In the original, Ariel states that she's 16 years old, so this obviously takes place a year before.

Also, for those who were complaining about Ariel not mentioning anything about her love of human stuff, guess again! Well, sorta. If you read her journal, it states that her favorite food is strawberry's (but she doesn't know what they're called). She also says she like to collect human gadgets and gizmos that her and Flounder went up to the surface and saw a ship and heard music coming from it.

Man, I definitely gotta watch this a second time soon. The more I think about it, I just get really excited about all the scenes with the Sisters. It would be really sad if this truly is "the last" Little Mermaid film because now is when we finally got to see more of them and got to know them better. GIVE US MORE MER-SISTERS, DISNEY!!!

Btw, I just took the quiz on the dvd and it says I'm most like Ariel :tlm: !!! :D

What have you all been getting??

Yeah, I noticed that about Ariel's age too. When I noticed they were posting their ages, I checked for Ariel's to confirm that it was a year before the movie, or, at least, potentially (who knows how long after her 15th birthday it was supposed to be).

I suppose the complaints about Ariel not showing her love for human stuff could be responded to by saying her obsession with humans developed between this one and the original film, as it well could have if there were many months inbetween.

Personally, one thing I didn't love in the original was the sisters' voices, ha, so they did sound rather better to me here, but I'm torn because I too love continuity... But why start there.

And I got Ariel in the quiz too! :D

Wait a second...isn't in this order?
Attina- 21
Adella- 20
Aquata- 19
Alana- 18
Andrina- 17
Arista- 16
Ariel- 15

Thats the order Peggy and Jodi say in this video. In the movie Adella says shes two years older then Ariel...ah this is so confusing!

:o Where is this from?! I dont think I remember that in the series.
Not sure if your question was ever answered, but, it was in a comic book. I have that comic book somewhere. If I ever get another scanner, I'll scan the images.

Well they also say that this movie takes ends right before the first movie....so I would go with the game info.

So I guess that glimmering hope for an 'Ariel & Her Sisters' line is gone, eh? Sad to see it just turned out to be a rumor, it would have been nice.

Just saying, since we haven't heard anything about it in forever. But wait, it was never officially announced, was it? Hm. Damn us for hoping Disney would do cool/smart things.
