Re: Frozen: Part III
This movie looks even more gorgeous than I ever even imagined it being. Elsa especially.
Sure, it's reminisant of Tangled, but is that even a bad thing? Tangled was a wonderfully designed film visually. It's a style that works for both films. Wreck-it Ralph didn't exactly stray from the norm (visual-wise) that much either. Don't fix what's not even broken to begin with.
Also, Japan. Where cartoons aren't treated like "kids fare" and trailers for Disney films are always epic.

These two are dedicated to all of those who could not picture Idina Menzel's voice on Elsa.Polizzi wrote:

That ferocious snow beast reminds of an abominable snowman (from Looney Tunes) who assume anything (Daffy Duck) that is a rabbit named George.

Seriously though, this trailer is a definite improvement. Now Disney, I doubt you're reading this, but whoever it is in Japan putting together these trailers, these are the guys you need to hire!

I doubt Disney cares how another country markets their (Disney's) films. In fact, knowing Disney's track record, they may take the videoTristy wrote:"And I will give him security and I will keep him warm like a mother hen so he will never feel rejected or lack for love."Polizzi wrote:That ferocious snow beast reminds of an abominable snowman (from Looney Tunes) who assume anything (Daffy Duck) that is a rabbit named George.

Though by now I'm sure someone has a copy.

Translation of the clip
Elsa: Don't come close to me!
Anna: sister Elsa!
Some unknown guy: Is this the queen's curse!?
Anna: I will save my sister
Some unknown guy: What is happening!?
Anna: This isn't just an ordinary storm, this is my sister's magic!

I'm assuming either my wording was confusing, or what I said was just plain stupid.PatrickvD wrote:What?Warm Regards wrote:
If the former, please let me re-phrase. I think Disney has a lot on their plate right now concerning Frozen. I don't think they have the time to learn how the Japanese (or any country, really) make trailers. And even if they did, I don't think Disney is entirely comfortable with presenting Frozen as a story about sisters/princesses. As wonderful as a more "mature" marketing would be, I am 90% sure Disney in the U.S. will market Frozen the same way that Tangled was marketed: in a Dreamworks-esque style.
If the latter, sorry 'bout that.
Re: Frozen: Part III
Okay... who do you think made this trailer? They don't just hand it off to some random Japanese dude and say "do what you will". Disney MADE the trailer! They have international branches of the company that do this stuff. They can't 'not care' about how other countries make trailers, because they are literally the ones making them.

Let me explain. The Japanese trailers are made by a division of Disney (Disney Japan) in a way that fits the market best and to make sure the movie makes a maximum profit over there. Disney has no doubt thoroughly researched what works well for the Japanese market, which is very different from the US or Europe.
Disney Japan is not operating outside of the Walt Disney Company. They're not outsourcing their distribution in Japan. I'm not sure what gave you the idea that anyone at Disney in the US is unaware of how their films are marketed in Japan?

Thank you for clarifying that, PatrickvD and SWillie. You could have just said, "YES YOU ARE STUPID." But you actually explained why I was wrong. Very nicely done.SWillie! wrote:Okay... who do you think made this trailer? They don't just hand it off to some random Japanese dude and say "do what you will". Disney MADE the trailer! I don't know what I was thinking. I guess I forgot that this was official and not a leaked vid like that "first look" a few months back.

Re: Frozen: Part III
Indeed. In fact, Dave Hollis, the Walt Disney Studios' executive VP of theatrical distribution, recently commented on this very issue.PatrickvD wrote:The Japanese trailers are made by a division of Disney (Disney Japan) in a way that fits the market best and to make sure the movie makes a maximum profit over there. Disney has no doubt thoroughly researched what works well for the Japanese market, which is very different from the US or Europe.
Source: http://www.filmjournal.com/filmjournal/ ... edf9043243Asked where audiences are most unpredictable, Hollis answers, “There’s no single silver bullet to figure [audience acceptance] out”, although different territories reflect some quirks. “Every market has its unique quality, and film-going habits vary. In Latin America, more families attend together. Japan is especially interesting to me for the way Japanese audiences respond to trailers and the composition of our movies. They are interested in the emotional components of a story, how characters relate to one another. They care about the deeper context that is the motivation of the characters. I see it as a purity in the way they’re looking at films and maybe it’s even more evolved. In Russia and China, 3D is often the big draw. But there are different sensibilities and preferences that require a different way to market”. Quick to emphasize the importance of teamwork, Hollis says he’s no expert on audience peculiarities but counts on “our main resources, who are our teams all over the world, those people showing our films, marketing them”.

Elsa is gonna be everything.
Re: Frozen: Part III
Was this officially released by Disney Japan? If not it will be removed from Youtube within a day or so.

Re: Frozen: Part III
Well, it looks like it was aired on TV judging by the timestamp and weather report in the top left corner. If it was aired on TV, it's not a "leak" (unless Disney did not give the channel/show/network permission to show it yet) and is probably fair game to post on Youtube. Then again, it's Disney. I believe they've taken down Japanese trailers before.DisneyEra wrote: If not it will be removed from Youtube within a day or so.
What I don't get is how a recently aired Japanese news programme would have anything to report about Ponyo.

Here's something a person on tumblr noted: some of the scenes in the Japanese trailer were actually seen before as test animation from the first look video. For example:

Re: Frozen: Part III
I just realized this during rehearsal!
THIS MIGHT BE THE REAL SONG LIST:

See, look how Elsa is smiling and her arms are wide open:

She’s DEFIENTELY singing or she’s like, “Hey, sis! Look at what I did!" And if she’s singing, this CAN NOT BE Let It Go because that’s while she’s going to the mountain, making Olaf, getting the castle etc. because that would take too long! She gets her dress after LIG, I think. And in the list, she has 2 songs. This is mostly likely a new song and a new scene! Therefore, this list might be real!
And this means:
As I suspected, Hans is the villain. “Like It Like That" sounds like that it’s all about the cold weather. The evil ruler needs the cool weather to rule. And the perfect Santino Fontana is singing as Hans, so yup, Hans is evil!

^ I thought it was stated that the song list wasn't real.
Anyway, here is the Japanese trailer in its entirety! Bleeding Cool actually led me there.
