As much as I wanted a new copy of both of these movies, I refuse to buy a "set" with 2 movies in one. I find it very cheap and stupid of Disney to do this. I hope they eventually (probably in 10-15 years) release seperate versions of these movies.

....and unedited!!!

There's no way I can wait 10-15 years. :(

I'd buy the current 2-movie set before doing that.

Since I couldn't find a "Walt & El Grupo" thread I thought to post these news here.

The documentary is now available (only on DVD and as a seperate release) for pre-order on amazon.com. More info on UD's front page.

Release date: November 30 2010

Extras (as listed on amazon):
Audio Commentary - Director Theodore Tomas and historian J.B. Kaufman

Photos in Motion - How the photos literally came to life

From the Director's Cut - 3 different segments taking you deeper into the story

Saludos Amigos - Original theatrical version

Original theatrical trailers: Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros
I can't believe they will be having as a bonus feature the uncut version of Saludos Amigos!!! How cool is that? :D

I'll believe it when I see it, and hopefully it means we'll one day get Make Mine Music and Melody Time uncut as well.

Maybe if they make a documentary all about the 1946-1949 package films ("Package Films Unwrapped" or something to that effect), then re-release them all in a box set.

BTW, the only Walt & El Grupo thread I could find was about Roger Ebert's review. So this thread is still a good place to post the update, especially since it's also about Saludos, Amigos.

With the original theatrical version of Saludos Amigos being included on the DVD of Walt & El Grupo, hopefully this means it will have the original RKO logo, in addition to El Gaucho Goofy being uncensored.

That's VERY cool! I guess this is a must buy now. It would be nice to get a Bluray release but an uncut original Saludos Amigos will make it worth owning despite the format.

Well, not a horrid one. It's not like it was a massive section being cut like Make Mine Music's The Martins and the Coys but Goofy's cigarette was digitally edited out. It was a silly more than a madding one.
