Somewhere at the end of last season ... or over the summer ... I read that because of viewer complaints of the amount of repeats ... and new episodes scattered between repeats ... that DH would have three breaks throughout the season during which repeats would air ... so there would be consecutive blocks of new episodes ...
I am glad they didn't go the drastic route like LOST with no new episodes for 13 weeks LOL
and I am so happy we finally have Christmas on DH !!! ... but it's sooooo early LOL ... Does that mean that there will be repeats throughout December? LOL
Tonight's episode was great! This season is just as good, if not better, than seasons one and two (season two was just as good as one, IMO).
I really want to know what's going on with Art. So he donated all of his toys to charity - so what?! The guy had pictures of half naked boys on his wall! Yeah, he's a swim coach and the boys were all sitting by a pool, but I don't think any sane swimming coach would make a shrine like that. Let's hope Lynette (or Ms. McCluskey) finds a way to get this guy put away.
Gabrielle's story was hilarious! I felt pretty bad for her when she was told that she couldn't see the kids anymore. Sure, she did say some stuff that she probably shouldn't have said, but she was trying to be helpful. She wasn't condoning any of those dangerous weight loss methods, she was speaking out against them - though she probably shouldn't have said anything on a subject like that to kids of that age.
Don't even get me started with Susan! She's a sleaze and I can't stand her! I'm going to have agree with numba1lostboy, the butler is right. Jane is in a coma, she's not dead! That's like saying it's okay to go sleep with some other woman while your wife is taking a nap. I don't care what Susan says, she is Ian's mistress.
Once again, Bree had the most interesting story tonight. I was thrilled when she kicked Orson out of the house! Unfortunately, the preview for next week's episode made it look as if Orson found a way to convince Bree that it was "Mother Hodge's" looniness that was talking. Poor girl, she's got the worst luck.
I enjoyed last nights Desperate Housewives a fair amount.
I was very surprised to see the awesome Ian Ambercrombie (AKA Mr. Pitt on Seinfeld) and Ian's stuffy butler.
I liked how Bree kicked Orson out of the house at the end (woohoo!). Unfortunatley, he seems to be back as if nothing happened next week.
I liked Gabbi's story last night, it was a very realistic thing of her to slip up and be a bad influence on the little girls.
I think probably my favorite moment of last night was when Lynette agreed with Tom that she needed to talk to someone, and then proceeds to go to Mrs. McClusky.
LYNETTE: I told Tom that I wouldn't interfere
MRS MCCLUSKY: Well...I didn't (starts to dial phone)
Oh, my goodness! Wow! I have chills, right now. Wow! The last few minutes of Desperate Housewives, tonight, was chilling!
Major spoilers ahead!
The neighborhood snubbed Art, who dressed as Santa Claus, and came to the annual Christmas party. They would not let their kids go near him. Later, the neighborhood ladies gather, at Lynette's suggestion. However, they are there making signs, calling Art a child molester, etc, and are planning to protest in front of Art's house. Lynette doesn't want this to happen. She just wants everyone to keep an eye on him.
Gabrielle becomes involved with one of the little girls' father, and the little girl doesn't agree with it. Gabrielle manipulates the situation, to get her man.
Mike is taken to jail. Edie comes to visit him, and while Mike is telling Edie all of the things that needs to be done (getting a lawyer, paying the retainer, etc.), Edie suddenly tells Mike that he's not happy, and she dumps him. Susan comes to Mike's rescue, much to the dismay of Ian. In the end, Ian tells Susan that he will pay for everything, and get Mike the best lawyer, if Susan agrees to never see Mike, again. She agrees, reluctantly.
Susan, Gabrielle, and Lynette gather at Bree's house, and Susan and Bree end up arguing over the situation with Orson. Susan feels Bree should tell the police what Gloria told Bree about Orson. Bree disagrees. Susan steals the keys to Orson's office, and finds evidence that Orson had been in a mental institution, and that he suffers from depression. Bree goes to the office, where Susan is still hiding out, and asks Orson for an explanation. After his explanation, Bree takes him back.
The mob descended on Art's house, and Lynette is feeling guilty. Suddenly, they hear an ambulance. It pulls up to Art's house, and they bring out Art's sister, on a stretcher. As Art comes out of the house, to go into the ambulance, some guy throws a baseball at Art's head. Lynette starts yelling for everyone to leave the neighborhood. She tries to apologize to Art, but, he just gives her an evil eye.
Later, Art is coming out of his house, putting boxes into his vehicle. Lynette comes over, and says that she is sorry, and that she heard about his sister's death on the news. Then, Art says, "I should think you. My sister was a sweet person, and always saw the good in me. But, now that she's gone, I don't have to worry about slipping up." Lynette starts looking panicked, and says, "What do you mean?" Art says, "I think you know what I mean" She tells him that he can't stay here (on Wisteria Lane), to which Art says, "Oh, I'm already packed". Lynette asks, "Where are you going?" Art replies, "Why, are you gonna write? Take care of that BEAUTIFUL family of yours." Lynette walks away, certainly freaked out. He is a creep, after all!
Gloria is upset that Bree is taking Orson back. Gloria threatens Orson, after Orson tells her that he told Bree everything. Gloria says, "I'm still keeping secrets about you", to which Orson replies, "I've still got secrets on you, too, mother." Gloria then picks up the phone, and makes a call, telling the person on the other end that, "Bree has taken Orson back. We need to talk. Meet me at the end of the block". As Gloria walks out of the house, to the end of the block, we see a car drive up. The window rolls down, as we see the face of Alma, to which Gloria says, "Hello, Alma." She's still alive!
Oh, the mystery deepens! I can't wait to see how this plays out, yet, I don't want it to play out too soon. They didn't show a preview from next week, so I don't know if there will be a new episode, or not! I can't wait until the next new one, though!!!

Great summary, MM1! Although, I think you mean "the mob descended on Art's house."
I was also blown away by this episode! So much happened!
Susan obviously still has feelings for Mike, and we are seeing a darker side of Ian. I think he might have had something to do with why his wife is in acoma...we don't know yet, do we? Also, I think he may know something about Mike. But, either way, I think the man is scum. This is not a good look for Dougray Scott, the actor who really did well in Ever After.
Bree is seriously dereanged. She's getting herself in deeper and deeper. What is going to happen?!?! I still think Orson is hiding something major, not just the fact that he's been in an institution. His mother just plain creeps me out, but a brilliant actress.
Lynette is six feet under. She dug her grave, and now she must lie in it. I'll be surprised if Art is gone after this episode. I think there's going to be a showdown. And is his sister really dead? Did he have something to do with it?
Gabby really pissed me off. Once a cute guy comes along, she just drops back down to her old level. I thought she was growing! What happened? And the way she manipulated that sweet, little girl...tsk, tsk.
I wonder what'll happen there. Their relationship seemed to be moving awfully fast.
Edie also pissed me off. She didn't surprise me, but still. She made that huge deal about how she was in love with Mike from the very beginning and then just dumps him. I really wish her character had more to do on the show other than being a rude, arrogant babe.
I don't think we'll be getting any new shows before the new year, either. That cliffhanger will keep me enticed, though!
I have to say that I was hoping that Lynette was wrong because it's so cliche to have him actually turn out to be evil.l Just for once I wanted Lynette to be put in her place and realize that she's not always right. I mean her efforts led to the death of an innocent woman and yet she'll never really think much of it since she was right and Art has semi-confessed to what she believed to be true.
Poor Bree, the woman just cannot catch a break with men can she? In the DH timeline it's been about a year since Rex died and in that time she's dated and become engaged to the guy who murdered him, then she's dated a sex addict who slept with her teenage son, now she's married to yet another possible murderer and wife beater.

You'd think she'd give it up and go gay, lol.
i think i probably would. but i think it's a LITTLE bit more than a year... because six months passed before the start of this season, and..... i dunno. a little over a year, i guess.
or maybe she should just stay single. i mean, with all her obsessive bitchy ways maybe it's best.
dont get me wrong, i love bree, but i think she kinda drives the men in her life to the brink of insanity

I must disagree on most of what you said. See, I think Lynette's character is so strong and and insightful, almost to the point that people expect her to slip majorly just to 'put her in place'. But that would be so out of character. She has been called for on her actions many times, but on the small day-to-day issues (dealings with Tom, the bribing incident etc). But when it comes to the big things, the important ones, she seems to have so much insight and awareness, it would just be strange to let her goof in a big kinda way.
Moreover, the whole dealing with Art could not be shrugged off in any way they'd twist it. She saw pictures, a room full of games that were immediately disposed of after she found out, and the man's supposed to be innocent? Sorry, but when you put 1+1 together there's only one answer that matches. Also, Lynette cannot be blamed for his sister's death. If he was wreckless enough to let a stranger find out about his 'little secret', he should also take responsibility for the consequences (never mind the fact that he should've put her with more caring hands if he was aware of his pervertion).
As for the episode? Amazing. I knew Ian was no good, and I knew this whole dealing with Alma was a wee bit more complicated than a couple of murders. I had a feeling that she was alive, but I was still in awe when her face popped out of the window. Bree is being careless about the whole situation, but then again, can you blame her? It's either believe the constantly lying and manipulating husband, or the insane and bitter mother (who's played wonderfully, btw). Overall this episode definitely deserves a 10/10. Desperate Housewives' christmas debut is awesome.

According to TV.com, the next new episode of Desperate Housewives will not air until January 7th, the day before my Birthday. I guess I can consider that an early Birthday present.
Some scoops ... from E! Online's Watch with Kristen ...
From Kelly: On Desperate Housewives, you know if Ian’s wife Jane is going to wake up from her coma? It seems inevitable, right?
I agree. You just know it’s going to happen, but I’m not really positive what the plan is at this point. What I can tell you is that she’ll continue to pose problems in Susan and Ian’s relationship, even if she doesn’t wake up. The butler isn’t her only fiercely loyal fan. Apparently her best friend from college is coming to town, too, and I’m hearing she grates.

Good. Ian sucks. Susan sucks. They should be in acoma.
Desperate for some scoops ... here are some from E! Online's Watch with Kristen ...
From Francine: I heard a rumor that Rex Van De Kamp is coming back to Wisteria Lane? Does that mean he's alive?! Will Bree dump Orson when she finds out?
As a Rex fan, I'm sorry to say he is, in fact, very dead. However, we may see him again anyway! It's been reported that Marc Cherry has asked Steven Culp, who played Rex, to take over Mary Alice's voice-over duties for an upcoming episode that focuses on the underrated men of Wisteria. I'm hearing that Steven is all for it, and happy to take some time off his midseason show, Traveler (which by the way, is really good). As for Orson, he ain't goin' anywhere anytime soon. I'm told producers adore Kyle MacLachlan so much, they've tweaked his original storyline in order to keep him around longer.
From Melinda: Anything on Desperate Housewives?
It looks like there’s gonna be a significant death very soon. And it makes things a whole heck of a lot easier for Susan.
