The Chronicles of Narnia TLTWATW was released at Christmas time in theaters and was released on DVD around Easter time. I think it was the most bought DVD of 2006. Both films deal with similar themes of a curse of eternal winter and a journey to bring spring back. Not saying that Frozen will do as well as Narnia just saying if the movie is successful enough I think kids will want it in their Easter baskets.UmbrellaFish wrote:Is it possible that Disney may not release the movie on DVD/BD until Christmas 2014? That often happens with Christmas-themed movies, but of course "Frozen" doesn't explicitly take place during Christmas. But will a movie called "Frozen" sell with Easter baskets?
Frozen: Part III
Re: Frozen: Part III
^ I think Jasmine might be ok honestly I am seeing her plastered all over the princess merchandise lately. Pocahontas and Mulan would most definitely be the first to go. I think Tiana could be in trouble but honestly I can't see Disney kicking anyone out. If Merida's makeover caused so much controversy could you imagine the backlash if they kicked some of the "minority" or "ethnic" princesses out. I can't wait to see Anna and Elsa hanging out in the front with Rapunzel, Ariel, Belle, Cindy, Merida and Aurora on backpacks with Jas, Poca, Tia and MuMu pushed to the back of the bus....I mean line. Oh and Snow you get back there to your voice upsets the children.

They shouldn't drop Jasmine because she's a official Princess from a popular movie. Pocahontas has a cult following and Mulan yeah they should drop her. She isn't even a Princess. Maybe replace her with Meg or Jane.Disney's Divinity wrote: I'm expecting them to get to a point where they finally drop Jasmine, Mulan and Pocahontas, and any of the other perceived dead weight. Re: Frozen: Part III
I really think Disney is their own worst enemy here; they could promote the heck out of whoever they want to succeed in the princess line, but they stay stuck in their own rut.
Mulan even comes out in her military outfit at the Disney parks sometimes !! How cross - gender is that to appeal to the boys ?

Re: Frozen: Part III
I'd agree that they probably won't lose anyone. Could you really imagine them kicking out Tiana when they worked so hard to tell the world, "LOOK, WE HAVE A BLACK PRINCESS. LOOK LOOK." People protested because they gave Merida eyeliner... imagine the petitions if Tiana would suddenly disappear.Jay wrote:I think Tiana could be in trouble but honestly I can't see Disney kicking anyone out.

At least Anna's face looks a lot better here than in that other widely circulated image.
The streak of white hair is a lot more prominent here as well.

The blurb is also slightly different from other sites.qindarka wrote:New image (taken from http://www.disneystore.co.uk/frozen/mn/1340001/ via http://disneyfrozen.tumblr.com/

Sibling rivalry reaches a whole new level of frostiness in this epic musical adventure. Having been cursed to eternal winter by her ice-hearted sister Elsa (otherwise known as the Snow Queen), Princess Anna must travel through a perilous, snow-covered world of trolls and other magical creatures to break the spell. Thankfully, she's not alone. Rugged Kristoff, his reindeer Sven and a comic snowman called Olaf are Anna's loyal, and often funny, companions on her quest to save the kingdom.
Re: Frozen: Part III
I'll never understand why people care so much if characters in the '"princess line" are technically princess or not. Uh, so what? I never took it so literally. I like seeing merchandise and dolls of my favorite characters that I would not otherwise see if they weren't in the princess line. Also I would be pretty insulted if they dropped Mulan. She is one of Disney's greatest heroines IMO. Replace her with Meg or Jane? They weren't even the main characters in their own stories, and hardly fit the normal princess definition either. Meg's movie wasn't even as successful as Mulan's and Jane was a cute silly character who barely did anything heroic. I have no problem with them being added to the princess line and would even love to see Esmeralda in there but they certainly don't have to replace anyone. And I'm sure there would be NO controversy at ALL if Disney made their princess line even less ethnically diverse than it already is. If anything, a big reason Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas are even in the line is so their line won't look so whitewashed.thelittleursula wrote:They shouldn't drop Jasmine because she's a official Princess from a popular movie. I like that new pic of Anna. She looks a lot less like Rapunzel now and I think she has a very slight Asian look to her and also looks more like her voice actress Kristen Bell. Really looking forward to the movie.

Re: Frozen: Part III
I don't know if anyone else posted these images. They aren't from Frozen, but rather from Brave back when it was set in the snow. They were posted in October 2012, so they're not new, but still very pretty.

More images can be seen on Paula Badilla's blog.
It's weird thinking that we might have had two winter-themed movies released about a year apart. (Unless Brave was meant to be released earlier.)

I do love those images for Brave. I hope Frozen boasts some of those wonderful snowy gorgeousness.
I'd say Bambi is the film to top in terms of winter beauty. Those winter backgrounds are unparalleled even after all these years.

Well Jasmine is a princess by birth so she technically deserves to be in the princess line more than Cinderella, Belle and Tiana who all marry into their princess title. Pocahontas and Mulan were definitely added for more diversity but it seems pointless because both characters rarely get used.
And Anna looks fabulous in the new picture. I really see Kristen Bell in her.
