I think bigger than the parental issue in this article is why would a dermatologist be prescribing pain killers?

Today I went to Wal-Mart with my parents, my nephew and niece to do some light shopping. On the TV area of the store they have various LCD HD TSs running a Michael Jackson concert DVD. Despite people openly expressing their disgust at the constant MJ coverage A LOT more people literally stopped shopping and parked their carts and just watched. It was incredible. Every time I go they have movies of all kinds running on the TV and no one stops to watch them. But today they put on a MJ DVD and people finally stop and watch.

And it was incredibly awesome too. He did AWESOME performances of Thriller, I'll Be There and Billie Jean. People were just drawn to the show and the energy of the performance, even if it was just a DVD.

I just sat there and thought "If a DVD is able to cause this much attention I wonder how a live concert would feel like...".

I haven't really said anything online about Michael Jackson's passing, but...

This was not shocking news at all. I expected it to happen sooner.

The guy and his life have been pure train-wreck now since around 1993, when the molestation allegations started. He was already in the wrong place, culturally, because of his skin turning white and then his nose starting to change so drastically (I'm told the surgeries began in the 80's!). Not to mention the Lisa Marie disaster.

Then, as soon as that happened- details about his past began rising that were so freaky and scary, I think even he was uncomfortable about it. People knew too much about his business (and I'm talking about- the really private stuff). His music recording career evaporated in like '97. The public could only stand so much weirdness from one person.

Then, he tried to make a comeback and it failed miserably - to be kind. People could only make jokes about him. Then, he went back to court - and that's when the public media attention got nasty. Really nasty. America had Conservative Hate-Fever and he was pursecuted, almost single-handedly because O.J. got off and the public felt helpless. They wanted to attack viciously the next black celebrity who went to court for a crime - whether they committed it or not. Plus, all the conservative-media pumped-in hate for gays and liberals, since Michael being charged with molesting boys puts him in that particular spotlight.

Then- the freaky documentaries, the baby-dangling, his U.S. concerts failed to rake in any money and he was only successful overseas anymore. Huge mounting debts, hundreds of thousands of jokes and parodies on TV... And, I'm not sure, but wasn't he going to lose Neverland?

I'm not surprised at all by this. Look at Anna Nicole. That TV show killed her, because it led to her becoming famous all over again and put a glaring spotlight on over a half dozen horrible things in her life. People were expecting Britney Spears was next. I guess they should have been looking to someone a little older instead.

Media attention can kill people. It has before and it will again. As long as we have people like Amy Winehouse, Lindsay Lohan, and others. The constant train-wrecks. The kinds of celebrities who freak us out so many times and so much, we make fun of them all the time.

As tragic as MJ's life was I'm glad the majority of the attention is focused on the amazing and revolutionairy accomplishments in the entertainment industry. His recording career may have "evaporated" in the 1997, by that time he has accomplished what few will in 10 lifetimes. For once the ongoing media coverage of a celebrity's death is actually justified in my opinion. Unlike the above mentioned. She accomplished nothing.

It may not have been the most prolific and she may not have won tons of awards etc. But fact is she didn't "accomplish nothing"

I was among the other people who felt that a deceased "playmate turned actress" does not deserve THAT much airtime. At some point enough was enough.

I decided to make a tribute vid of my own, while doin research for my "tribute" vid I noticed everybody used Man In The Mirror or I'll Be There, Beat It and Thriller were used too but not much results least from what I've seen.

Beat It: In honor of the "King Of Pop" I decided to make a tribute vid in his memory featurin various verisons of MJ's hit song Beat It.

Once you feel the beat of Michael Jackson, can't help but groove with his swingin style of music.

And I'm 1/4 aboriginal Canadian and have pale skin and freckles...

A really good friend of mine has a Kenyan immigrant as a father (who is really REALLY dark) and is a lighter skin tone than MJs kids. I'm not saying 100% that Michael was their father, but you can't say he isn't based on their skin colour alone.

I don't agree with that, but I know what you mean. The media attention focused on her and all the things that were happening to her was important. To show us how we pry way too much into the lives of celebrities and how low the media has sunk. How they have no more ethics anymore. They killed her.

No, the majority won't learn anything from it. But the smart people will understand.

I was with him up until his Childish rant- especially on the "My Super Sweet 16" (he totally missed the boat on the new 16 & Pregnant show! - I wish I was joking)...

But in the end, he's lauding Britney Spears' accomplishments and criticizing Neil Armstrong's. All she did was use her mountains of cash to pay the right people to re-make her up again. How did she overcome anything? She still doesn't get half the jokes about her.

I turned that off after about a minute. I found that guy to be really obnoxious. What I saw was in bad taste and I thought it was rude and disrespectful.

Most of what he said was right on the nose. But, yes, he is obnoxious. I think Kathy Griffin had a couple less than glowing things to say about him.
