I don't see what the fuss is all about... The only difference I see is the black lines on the headlights of the original Herbie? The rest is all the same... Or isn't it?

I don't know but.... my question isn't wether they have any integrity left... I'd prefer to know who on earth would waste his or her time messing up a herbie poster like that... disturbing.

I thought that Herbie looked the same since his last appearance.
Why do you have to be so mean to Lindsay Lohan and Disney it looks to me Herbie looks the same?
It doesn’t look like K.I.T.T or a Transformer car.

I'm looking foward to see this new Herbie movie. :)

Welcome to the forum! I do hope this isn't a post-and-run, since you clearly have insight into at least some things Disney.

I think you'll have to be quite the Herbie enthusiast to notice differences in the car. I can understand disappointment over that, but I'd think if you're that big of a fan of the series, why not give this one a chance?

As for whether they're making this movie for the money, I think there may be more artistic intentions with this film than with any of the previous Herbie sequels. At least this will be introducing Herbie to a new generation. For Herbie Rides Again, they essentially cast Dean Jones and Michelle Lee look-alikes and ran with it. The first film's story itself is pretty slight, so I don't think the purpose has ever been to pursue a story which needs continued, or to reveal nuance in the lively car, or to enlighten us with answers to the pressing questions of what happens next.

It's really a matter of creating more films featuring a surprisingly popular concept. I'd rather this than a Those Calloways: Fully Loaded or a Bon Voyage: Part Deux. Actually on second thought, that second option is pretty enticing.

For once in my life I agree with Jens.

As He Kindly Stated:
I don't see what the fuss is all about... The only difference I see is the black lines on the headlights of the original Herbie? The rest is all the same... Or isn't it?
I agree that it is kinda sad that Herbie changed a bit, but times have changed. Disney is in new hands. They want to make Herbie more modern, like one of the Nascar.

As a herbie fan Im really looking forward to this one. Its a miracle they wheeled herbie out of the garage to begin with and Im gratefull they did. Personally, yes, I too loathed that horrible made for tv thing that came out in 97. But I think its probably precisely the fact that disney is...."in it for the money" that they cant afford to screw it up. they didnt dissapoint with parent trap or freaky friday remakes chances are herbie could win the hearts of a whole new generation. I mean its gotta be better than Herbie goes bannanas!!!!!

I'm looking forward to this movie although I'm a little afraid of what they might do to it. So far things look pretty good.

That poster is kinda neat besides it being screwed up.

Herbie and Lindsay Lohan.... neat.

I can't believe anybody would want to sully that magnificent poster! I think it's one of the best poster designs of the past decade!

Hopefully, the poster gives us a clue as to just what the movie will be like, and marketed. It's ultra-modern yet with a retro-60's styling. Exactly what a new Herbie movie needs to be - it needs to play to both audiences.

I must say, despite not being a Herbie fan what-so-ever, the poster designs and the released "sizzle reel" have me actually anticipating this movie a great deal. I think, based on my limited Herbie knowledge, the new movie looks to be in the spirit of the old films, and when the last movie (I'll ignore the TV movie) was made over 20 years ago, that's all you can ask.

I know it's just generalisations based on 2 minutes of (mostly behind the scenes) footage and a couple of poster images, but I really do think Herbie: Fully Loaded is in more than capable hands.

Yes as The Monkey's Uncle stated "don't judge movies until you have seen them".

sixth time

Post by saveherbie »

I just finished writing a huge post and this crazy board erased it!
Forget that now. Not to be rude but you people need to wake up. Look at this picture and tell me what's different. This is the original Herbie from the 1970's.

To the people who haven't seen any Herbie movies yet, GO OUT AND BUY OR RENT THE MOVIES NOW! Don't wait till this new film comes out. See the REAL HERBIE first.
I'm sure everyone here would be ok with Disney if they made TOY STORY III and turned Woody into a construction worker instead of a cowboy. It's all the same, right?

I think you may be overracting a bit but I guess anyone who is a major fan would. I think I'm a pretty big Herbie fan but I really don't see any big problems.

Sure the licence plate is gone (in the front, the back is still there) and there are a few other minor changes but it's 2005 and things can't remain exactly the same.

They have really raminaed pretty true to the original.

Point taken, but your analogy is faulty. Herbie was a Volkswagen automobile, and now he's...still a Volkswagen automobile. It'd be more like if Disney gave Woody rings around his buttons or put three instead of two, or double-stitching on the cuffs of his jeans, or removed his belt buckle.

I think you're being excessively harsh towards the film based on appearance alone. If they get Herbie's character entirely wrong, then you should feel cheated. As it is, that's been about the only element which has stayed in place through all the films. (Well, I haven't seen the TV movie or show.)

I think you guys fail to understand that the details make Herbie who he is!
Look at this.

Maybe I am overreacting. If the movie explains why Herbie has the wrong details then I can live with it. Any Herbie fan knows the magic behind Herbie is that he is a plainand simple looking Bug. Herbie gets laughed at for what he is. Then he surprises people. Herbie isn't plain anymore and that is a major Disney flaw in this movie. They couldn't even get the numbers right on the decals. How stupid can they be? Look at the picture!

In fairness I think we Do all get the point. I just dont think any of us believe its the end of herbie as we know him. Even in the original Love Bug there were continuity problems with some of the stand in bugs and in key stunt scenes. If he's a volkswagon with 53 and stripes he still wins me over. 50million bucks is a a big risk on a franchise that a lot of todays kids could care less about, so you gotta admire them for taking the risk. If its a lousy script not in keeping with the spirit of the original then I might be dissapointed, as it stands lets just be gratefull there trying to revive him in the first place. Its nice to know Herbie has such an ardent supporter but for the record I love the new design.

Those Calloways: Fully Loaded

It's sort of obvious that this will be more of a Lindsay Lohan movie than a Herbie movie but whatever.
