Avatar Size

Post by Kram Nebuer »

I know the profile page only allows 140 x 140 pixel sized avatars. Everyone's is like that or smaller, but the one member's (EDIT: I didn't want to point fingers so I deleted the name) has a larger avatar. How on earth did he do this if the site won't allow pictures bigger than 140 x 140 pixels? I experimented with a picture less than 35 KB and larger than 140x140 and got this:
The avatar must be less than 140 pixels wide and 140 pixels high
I don't mean to whine, but I don't think its fair for that member to be allowed the unallowed avatar size. It's not that I myself want a bigger avatar also, it's just that his avatar, which is a somewhat offensive - bad humor, is quite large and takes up more bandwidth than everyone elses, which is most likely the reason for an avatar restirction in the first place.

Well...maybe if it was direct-linked from a different source or something? I don't know...(had trouble wording that, sorry)

Yeah, Jasmine has it right. If you link from elsewhere, you can apparently get around the 140 x 140 maximum. Still, if you're a regular poster, I'll ask you to change it or I'll resize it so it fits at 140 or less each way.

Ok, thanx Sekaino Jasmine and Luke. I was afraid we might have a hacker or something! Anyhow, I don't think he posts much since I've only seen two of his posts.

Damn! And here I was planning on Avatar dominatio... err I mean, wishing for a way to put up Widescreen Avatars

j/k Luke :)

(And yes, I could do 55 x 140 ones but those would be "letterboxed" and defeat the whole Scope of the deal :D )

Avatarless stopped?

Post by Wonderlicious »

Luke, has the avatar not appearing before the 50th post of a member concept been dropped? I've seen people with 10 or so posts having avatars. Am I going nuts?

Hi, I just registered. How do I get one of those picture things right underneath my name? Thanks...
