Brother Bear 2, Bambi 2, The Tinker Bell Movie- gone too far
okay.... enough that disney has squeezed all the crap juice out of every disney classic... but dont you think this is getting a little out of hand?
i mean... how can you make a sequel to brother bear?? they're milking movies that bombed for sequels!! what is the matter with disney?? they know that a continuation to bambi will go to hell... because there are just some things that wenrt meant to be continued... and a movie like bambi which basically has very little plot if it continues in the same style will bomb for being outragously boring, but if it's done with plot it will bomb for changing the original to much and not being true to it. so no matter what it will be crap but it will make alot of money because-it's bambi. now the tinkerbell movie?? what is the matter with them?? by some stroke of luck they justtt managed to et away with a second peter pan.. so now they're going and making a third to make SURE that they have no money left to make from the production?? what?? it's going to be a movie about faeries?? fine! but why call it The Tinkerbell Movie?? why does it have to be Tinkerbell?? why cant it be a new fairy movie with new characters?? that would do well wont it?? but- of course... it wont make as much as a tinkerbell movie would because it's a disney trademark. great...
i say we sign a petition and get it to all disney sites, forums etc to stop the madness of the disney sequels... all in favor say "I"

How many topics have there been of this? I'm going to say what I always say:
Don't judge a movie before you see it, and if you really don't want to see it , stop complaining and don't buy it (just ignore it!). Is it really that hard?
I'm sure there will be a lot of posts following my post about how horrible the sequels are. I don't think it's going to solve ANYTHING, but oh well...

No they won't. Come on, how stupid is that thought? Where is all the big money coming from? Not from Home on the Range or anything!
I am a huge supporter of the recent sequels (Jungle Book 2, Return to Neverland, Mulan II, ...) because the DisneyToon Studios are doing an almost impossible job. They have to use a smaller budget than the features, but with the recent sequels they are providing quality like the features always have provided. I really praise the people at the DisneyToon Studios. They have proven to be a great Disney Studio, and proven that 2D is not dead. I want them to stay and create more DTV's, as they are heading the right way. They are improving their quality every sequel. Have you even SEEN Mulan 2?

I haven't seen that one yet, but from the stills I saw I don't think I would even want to watch that one... It looks so flat and all... I don't like ALL sequels, only the recent ones...

Disney's direct-to-video films have been getting a lot better. And if we're not going to be seeing traditional animation in theaters so much anymore, I don't think we should hope for it go away altogether. Besides, like Jens said, the market for these allows for far greater profits than with big budget theatrical releases. Even if you want them to, they're not going to be going away anytime soon.
Exactly Luke, that's what I was trying to say (you and 2099net always say things much better)
About Mulan II... I'm not saying everyone will like it, because the sequel hating has gone way too far with some people. These people will refuse to see any good in any sequel produced by the DisneyToon Studios in the future. Anyone with a clear mind and a sence for good movies will like Mulan II (altough not everyone in the movie is really pure).

I really hated Mulan II. It looked fun in the trailer but I thought it was extremely dissapointing. I couldn't stand Mulan being off model almost constantly. I've seen better DTV animation. For some reason the word plastic kept coming to mind. Lion King 1.5 looked a lot better. But since I am not a big fan of the original Lion King, I didn't really like this one. So far I've seen them all and I have yet to see one that didn't feel awkward from start to finish. But I will keep my mind open... for all I know, Bambi II is a masterpiece.
It's incredible how wome people like Jens affirm that people who didn't like MULAN2 like me, don't like anything from ToonStudios! IT's ABSOLUTELY FALSE! I was very VERY DISAPPOINTED BY MULAN2 but i Loved the Lion KING3 because it was greatly animated (so not ws Mulan2.. just take a look at the character of Mulan, she isn't herself anymore... Look at her eyes!!! c'mon!!)!!
I'm really lookign foreward to Lilo and Stitch2... but i agree that too much sequels kills creativity in Disney... AND THAT's WHAT AVERAGE AUDIENCE THINK!! how many times i hear at school or theaters, Disney lost its imagination, the only thing they can do is cheap number twos...

I didn't meant this to turn into another rant (altough it always comes that far), but I really need to clear up myself... I'm not saying that everyone SHOULD like the sequels, but SOME people (and I really don't mean you by that KinOO, I know you like other DisneyToon Studios productions) are just blind to see any good in the newer sequels because the older sequels that really sucked put their mind on "Hate sequels ON". I don't really care if anyone doesn't like the sequels (I know a lot of people who don't), but please people, keep it to yourself before the movie is released! There is no POINT in bickering about movie(s) before they are released! Just give them a chance, or even don't! Just watch them before you start attacking them. PatrickvD and KinOO saw Mulan II and didn't like it... that's fine! As long as they have seen the movie! I actually agree with them about Mulan not being Mulan the whole time, but it really improves during the movie (she's awfully animated in the "Lesson number one" scene, but beautifully animated in the end scenes).
Anyway, I hope you forgive me for sticking up for sequels

All I'll says is there's at least 5 non-sequel films being developed by Disney, possibly 8. I posted the titles in another thread.
That's more original films under development at any other time we know of. So what does it matter if Disney does Sequels, they are still doing just as many new original Animated films as they have at anytime in the past.
Oh, and Iggie, as the starter of this thread, how does this thread square with your desire for a THEATRICAL release of Kronk's New Groove?

If I'm not mistaken there are even more than 8 new projects in development. So yeah, there are more projects in development than there have been in recent years. Wich is a good thing for sure.2099net wrote:All I'll says is there's at least 5 non-sequel films being developed by Disney, possibly 8. I posted the titles in another thread.

Why do general people i heard think Disney lost their imagination?? I tell you why...
Please tell me how many sequels willbe released in 2005 from Disney?
Mulan2, Lilo2, Bambi2, Kuzco2, Tarzan2, yet another Pooh movie, Herbie movie...
How many ORIGINAL animated feature will be released from Disney in 2005?
... Chicken Little...
okay see it? Disney FLOODED and still flood the market with its sequels and that's what the audience see, taht's why hte image of quality and innovative imagination has gone from Disney... People now turn to PIXAR or Dreamworks because they see that these studios are not flooding the market with direct to video cheapquels but with rather big blockbuster and quality movie.. Disney NEED to do something quickly and change their "rapid bucks profits" politic right now!

That's the case with every other major studio in Hollywood. To expect anything different from Disney would be niave.KinOO wrote:Please tell me how many sequels willbe released in 2005 from Disney?

Pixar doesn't do it because they aren't nearly as huge as the Disney company, and making about 1 movie a year is enough to keep them going at this point.
