What I want to know is how Disney will make the characters and animation look exactly like the original 2 movies. I mean, unless you have the actual original models, even the best 3D artists won't be able to replicate it completely. You'll be able to tell there's something not right. Anyone know if Disney has the rights to all of Pixar's data as well?

That would be nice. Unfortunately, we don't live in this mythical Land of make-believe where Disney's sequels are all as good as the originals.
That may be true, but we don't have to automatically discount a potentially good sequel just because it is a sequel.

I'm sure there were people who said 'Toy Story 2 sucks' before it was even released, and it could be argued that it is actually superior to the first film in many respects.

But why can't a sequel be as good as the original? And who says that it has to be? Nobody would say that 'Lady & the Tramp 2', 'The Rescuers Down Under' or 'Herbie Goes Bananas' outdo the original, but they are all enjoyable films, in my humble opinion.

If you are going to write-off a film before ANY work is done on it, then we wouldn't have Aliens, Empire Strikes Back or The Godfather Part II.

I suppose it is easily to complain about a film before it is made though. Once it comes out, you'd actually have to SEE it and ASSESS it on it MERITS before passing judgment, and that's just so hard.

I'd guess they would just seupena it (or whatever the legal term is) because they own the rights to the characters.

Oswald the lucky rabit anybody?

They are not little balck dots. there are two lines which shape the bottom of the nose, they curve around to make the shape of the mostrils! Do you need glasses. And anyway, Disney 2D animated characters hardly ever have much of a nose when you see them from front on![/quote]

o.k I'll agree wih you, it's a nose... :) .. so is that when Mulan thinls Shang's dead or something?

A Toy Story 3??!!

Post by allstitchedup »

PLEASE! OH PLEASE! :o

Don't tell me that Disney's doing a Toy Story 3 without PIXAR!

Its enough that they ruined our favorite classics with direct-to-video sequels. But getting their greasy hands on a great movie like Toy Story and destroying it is too far from their limits! :x

Seriously, please let this be a rumor that's meant to torture us Disney fans! :o

TS3&4 could be great movies if there's talented writers and new ideas and a dare to go for a "crazy" ideas. And let's hope we'll get Tom Hanks and Tim Allen to do the voices again. There's something seriously missing if they are missing 8)

possible storyline for Toy Story 3 (spoilers n such)

The Toy Story franchise has been a very profitable one giving Disney and Pixar a winning parternership with these two animated films. With the first Toy Story making a whopping $361,958,736 in worldwide box office receipts and the second film pulling in an additional $485,015,179.

With the Disney/Pixar relationship coming to an end with Cars will Tim Allen, Tom Hanks and the rest of the Toy Story gang will comeback for a third film without one of the partners?

During the premiere of Meet the Fockers, writer James Herzfeld mentioned that he just turned in a draft for Toy Story 3. He also commented about the hopes of having the original cast return and the next film to have a theatrical release. If everything turns out as planned we should be able to expect a release within three years. He also gave us some insight on the storyline and that the Toys might end up going to a different country.

If ya ask me, I wouldve preferred the originally planned storyline dealing with the coming of age but hopefully they might touch on that.

Here's a direct link to the interview: http://www.iesb.net/movies2/toystory3int.php

Well, I like the first part of the idea quite a bit - Andy's mom meeting someone and the toys having to interact with a new set of toys. Sounds very good. Foreign country? Could work, I suppose. But I'd like to see most of it take place in the same area as the last two.

The previous premise I heard about coming-of-age and Andy growing up sounded quite depressing. I thought Toy Story 2 sufficiently covered that territory without killing the franchise. So this new premise sounds more promising from what little we've heard. But without Pixar, it's going to have to be remarkable and retain the original cast just not to be a letdown.

Thanks for sharing this, toonaspie!

I agree with Luke - the "meeting new toys" idea sounds neat, I hadn't even thought of that possibility. I think if they can manage to get the original cast back (I doubt Tom Hanks, but you never know) they have a good shot of approaching the quality of the first two. The thing I don't think TS3 will come close to, however, is brilliant timing and pacing - the thing Pixar exceeds at best. I just can't see a rag-tag crew put together by the board of directors reaching that.

Toy Story 3 script picked by Disney

Post by BonusMage »

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=7977

Disney Feature Animation has committed to make Toy Story 3, without Pixar, basing the next installment of the blockbuster animation franchise on a script by young writer Jared Stern.

According to Variety, Stern developed a story idea for the long-in-the-works "TS3" on spec while a member of Disney's Feature Animation Writing Program. Several other writers also took a stab at "TS3," but Disney ultimately chose Stern's concept.

Though exact details of the script were being kept under close wraps, Stern's new take is expected to advance the "Toy Story" franchise by taking the characters on the road and out of Andy's room. Stern is also understood to have invented a couple of new characters for the next installment.

The studio is expected to hire another screenwriter to write a polish on the script

How sad....

W/o Pixar it won't be the same, ever.

Besides, why would they want to make more movies out of Toy Story?

In the end they're going to:

-destroy the whole thing

-make people bored with it

PS

that works for Shrek because Dreamworks doesn't have anything else. And besides Shrek's movies are meant only to have fun with them but not to be special.

The only thing that worries me is the 'out on the road' thing.
In Toy Story it was funny them chasing the Pizza car to get to Andy, and in Toy Story 2 it was funny the gang getting across the road to the toy store, but to have a whole film of it may get tired.
Plus how did they get out on the road, I hope Andy didn't dump his toys. :( :(

Yeah, I also think in the end it's going to be:

Toy Story Do America

"without Pixar"
shall I assume a failed movie there?
geez, it's like they're running out of ideas so they have to continue with these sequels and all that! :x

Toy Story is going to be ruined for me esp. if Pixar's not doing it.
