Bambi 2, Lilo and Stitch 2, Tarzan 2 plots and screenshots

I'm so relieved, surprised, and eh! Relieved that Bambi 2 will be traditionally animated and not CGI. Surprised at how good all the screenshots look (then again, theyre only thumbnails at the moment) and lastly, eh to Bambi 2's storyline. It's already been done. Plus I kinda like how the original storyline of Bambi kept that passage of time anonymous.

The animation looks to be pretty decent. I am really bummed about the Bambi storyline. I mean, I was bummed that a sequel was being made to begin with, but the story is him dealing with his mom's death, trying to get to know his father, dealing with teen angst, and trying to find a mate? What? That just sounds wrong. And it's an "in-between-quel." So why isn't it called "Bambi 1.5?" lol. I really like the "Lilo & Stitch 2" picture. And the "Tarzan 2" picture confuses me because they show young Tarzan. From what I understand, there are many Tarzan stories out there. Couldn't Disney have made a movie based on one of those books? Why is young Tarzan in it? I mean, it could be a flashback, but who is that ape in the pic? What is Disney doing?

There's not a lot more info on that page (not even plots), so I didn't bother to include the link on The Disney Database. Anyway, here is my opinion:

Bambi and the Great Prince of the Forest

I think the image resembles the look of the original movie very well, altough Bambi looks a little cuter (and that's a fact, not just an opinion). Probably because they want to make Bambi popular and kuddly again.

Lilo & Stitch 2

I'm a little affraid that this movie will turn out to be a movie like Stitch! The Movie... At least the animation looks flat and a little too tv-serie like. I'm going to see how this one turns out...

Tarzan 2

This one will be popular, as it stars young Tarzan. It will probably be a movie full of emotions, like the scene in the original Tarzan where he wants to fit in. Anyway, I will also see how this one turns out....

Hopefully, it will also motivate Disney to re-release the 2-disc Collector's Edition of Tarzan.

Actually, they will... at least internationally, but I'm pretty sure it will come out in the States as well.

O yes, please. I really, really hope they do.

It tears me up that if I want a copy of the Tarzan 2-disc DVD, pretty much my only option is dishing out loads of $ on eBay. :/
Wherever. Whatever. Have a nice day.

I like the look of Bambi and Lilo and Stitch 2, nice bit of animation. i'd have to see full clips to determine if the animation quality is up to the quality of the originals. But for now, just like the look :)

The pics so far look surpisingly good. The Bambi one especially looks gorgeous, and Lilo's seems to be in-tune with the film than with the series. It's insane how many releases Disney's packing this year. We've got the Platinums of Bambi and Cinderella, SE's of Pocahontas and Lilo and Stitch, a very likely re-release of Tarzan's CE, the rumors about a Dumbo SE, and then these sequels (not to mention The Incredibles). This could very well be the best year for Disney DVD we've ever seen. I don't think there's ever been any other year where so many 2-Disc SE's were being released by Disney in the same year.

OMG! :D LILO AND STITCH 2 YAY!!!!!!!
Im soooo glad theres now some evidence that the film is going too be out! And im impressed with that picture.

Im glad that it looks like the animation will be very similar too Lilo and Stitch and not Stitch the movie & the series, as they just looked so flat and the characters just wernt the same! :(

But looking at that photo the backgrounds and characters looook great!! :D

I first saw the images of L&S2 and Bambi 2 in Patrick's sig, and I actually mistook them for images from the original films! Yes, that shows how long its been since I've seen them last, but it also shows how close in style & tone the sequels appear to be to the originals (the Tarzan 2 image is easily identified as something from a DTV project, though). As for the actual plot of Bambi 2 though, it could end up being sappy & overstated, or it could go the other way and be subtle & naturally emotional - it really depends on how they attempt pull it off.

On a side note, this also pretty much confirms that the Lilo & Stitch 2-Disc set will arrive in the summer months, as the DisneyToon Studio web page says that the sequel will be arriving then.

I agree, when I found the pictures I had to look twice as well. they both look beautiful. I'll give them a chance and hopefully they get the stories right for these sequels.

I have but one question......WHY???

Why can't the imaginations of those people at Disney be challenged? Why do we have to be put through the wringer with direct to video releases of inferior product. I don't care how the pictures look, we all know how the animation has gone down hill in the past years. Who is willing to say "Emperor's New Groove" was "classic" animation? Look what they did with "Dumbo 2"......last I heard they scrapped the idea and it is a no go. I hope that it stays that way.

I absolutely love Walt Disney animation films from "Fantasia" to "Snow White" to "Cinderella" to "Bambi" and right on through "The Lion King". Then they let us down with "Lion King 1 and a Half" with a direct to video release and it looks very slipshod.

Now I love good animation, it doesn't have to be great like "Cinderella" or "Bambi" or even as good as "The Lion King", but why must they take it for granted that we will buy anything that has a Disney name on it regardless of the quality. I, for one, will stay away from all of these "sequels" like they are the plague.

Hollywood has lost its imagination and can only do movies that are remakes, sequels, or look-a-likes. This doesn't say much for the writers in the starry city. I wish they would get their thinking caps back on and quit saturating the market with inferior product.

Sorry for the rant, but that is just way that I feel.

Maybe they should some time trying to soothe Pixar so that they stay in the family after "Cars". "Mickey's Twice Upon A Christmas" was a very poor example of Disney 3-D animation. I hope they drop the ideas of doing all the old classics in this "new" format.

I very much agree with you, dvdjunkie, but it's a rant we've all heard before. And the sad fact is, no matter how much the fans whine, Disney will continue to churn out these cheapquels as long as they make money. I've been enraged and depressed about Bambi II ever since it was revealed that the film was actually put into production.
Personally, I absolutely do not care how "pretty" these films look (what we can gather from those thumbnail-sized images, anyway...). I don't care whether Andreas Deja is working on Bambi II, or that it could almost flawlessly match the original designs, etc. etc. Who cares how pretty the film looks if the story it's telling is absolute crap? And if Bambi II's rumored "teen angst" story turns out to be true, then the most beautifully-rendered animation in the world won't help it.
Life often leaves us standing bare, naked and dejected with a lost opportunity. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words: "Too late."

Very true, lets not forget that what made Bambi such a timeless classic was not its beatifu animation ( it helped, alot) but it was its great story and themes. Thats what is missing from cheapquels.

I really like the pics so far. I always cringed at the thought of a Bambi 2, but that pic looks really good. Stitch looks good, but anything with the lil Blue Guy looks good. and like Jack, I didn't think much of the pics when I saw them in Patrick's sig because I just assumed they were from the originals. Good job so far!

well here it is then: I am MORE than willing to say Emperor's new Groove is the greatest thing since sliced bread. awesome storytelling. brilliant character animation. brilliant character design. brilliant art direction. and awesome voice cast. Emperor's new Groove is destined to go down as a (quit different) Disney animated classic. Enough said. :)

My interest in all three of these movies is very small. I might watch them once and if I like them buy them but I'm still crapped out about a Bambi sequel. The other two I'm not as upset about I guess because they are newer and a Lilo & Stitch sequel might be pretty enjoyable. I just hope it's not a rush job but I'm sure they cut as many corners as they could.

I want to see something new. Traditional looking animation released in theatres hasn't even been gone a year at Disney and I like the Pixar movies but I have an appetite for them. CG is neat-o but it's just not the same...
