Story of Menstruation & The Castaway now online!

Post by Sir Hawkins »

Hello all!

Thanks to Jerry (jebsdad) who sent me the VHS tape, I have now converted the complete, uncut version of the 1931 Mickey Mouse cartoon, "The Castaway", which was discussed in an earlier post to have some 3 seconds of missing footage from the "MMiBW Volume 2" treasures. He was also generous to include the long banned "The Story of Menstruation" Disney cartoon, which I have also converted. Below you will find several file formats to download the clips.

The actual files you will be downloading are .torrent files. They are not the video files. Many of you already know about this. For those who don't, you first need to install bittorent, which can be located here: http://bittorrent.com/download.html
After you install bittorent, download one of the following files, depending on what you want. Open that file and it should open it in bittorent automatically. Save the .mpg and voila! You have it.

Now for the important part, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't limit your upload speed if possible, and continue to upload for as long as you can after the download is done. I cannot leave my computer upload for a week on end or my ISP will start contacting me. Also if everyone uploads the speeds will be faster and the strain on my end will be less. I have cable so uploading from my end will be between 35-40k total, not very much if 5 people are downloading at the same time. Alright here are the links and hope you enjoy!

Here's the complete "Castaway" in VCD .mpg format

Enjoy!

Ok guys should be good to go now! Was having some problems but now both links work. If you just want the 3-second missing clip in either VCD or DVD mpg format, please let me know and I will email it to you or something else, as it's a very small file.

You have to pay at least $20 to download bittorent. Is there another option for viewing these?

No you don't have to pay at all. They suggest it but you absolutely do not have to pay and it still works totally fine if you don't, I've been using it for almost a year now. Just ignore that message that keeps coming up asking you to pay.

I must be doing something wrong then. When I click on the link above, then I click on "download BitTorrents", then I click on "download now", it gives me only 3 options: "Pay with credit card" - "Pay with online check" and "Pay with PayPal".

When I click on any of those, it goes through an online payment system. I don't see any way of getting a free download.

Download this BT client: http://pingpong-abc.sourceforge.net/download.php

Then download those files.

I've done it.

Ah dude your clicking the wrong link. That's a paid ad you're clicking on. Here's the direct link to download bittorent for windows: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/bitt ... e?download

Yeah it appears the tracker is down. Only thing I can do besides just waiting for it to come back up is find another tracker. I'll look for one and report here when/if I find one.

Ok everybody, I got a new tracker and I can confirm that both files are working great now, so go for it.

Again though, PLEASE continue uploading after the download is done, I've been running this for 2 days straight now and would hopefully like to ween off in another day or so, my internet connection is down to a crawl because it's being taken up with this. Thanks alot and enjoy!

I've already downloaded "The Story of Menstruation" and I'm trying to download "The Castaway" now.
Sir Hawkins, thanks a lot for your effort of making them available to us.

Since this has sliped on to page 2 I guess the interest is not much there anymore but just in case it is I am now making these availeble again for some days to come.

I am now trying to download some other difficult files (old Dean Martin clips) so my torrent client will be working day and night for some days now untill everything is finished and I bet it will take several days.

I am not customed to how this torrente thing works, but I hope I have done everything correct for it to be chared.

Those of you that don't use/don't want to use BitTorrent, someone just sent me this:

Streaming 'Story of Menstruation'.

I could have phrased that better.

I just watched it, but that constipation reference was from way out of left field. Being a guy, I did not see that one coming.

For the record - the Story of Menstration is not banned. But like most educational shorts of the period they are badly dated and not shown anymore.

The Story of Menstration short is excellent and very informative. I did realize that Kimberly-Clark, maker of Kotex products, used that idea to Disney. And it does have a reason that slouching is a bad habit to most females, which it cause constipation. Wow, very informative! :o

Daryl: I'm surprised that you've seen this short and you got shocked a little! Good job for viewing it! Hopefully, this educational short will be a useful information for you and your girlfriend.

Noted: I'm a female, by the way. So, that educational short is very useful to me.

Thanks for the link, Loomis! It's neat to see a Disney oddity and I must say I learned some things. (More than I wanted to know, probably.)

Wow! That was an interesting short. A little dated, but it serves it's purpose well.

Interesting, indeed. Thanks for sharing! I think Cinderella had a cameo in there.
