3-page thread on the topic here, which provides a number of perspectives on the matter:

Thanks, that about it somes it all up right there. Real shame. The movie is flawed in it's ideas just as many works of literature and cinema are. People insist on progressing yet refuse to view the past as a mean of studying the mistakes that were made.

If people can't take song as the south as views from a less educated time thatn there is little hope of them ever being able to study history. Black, white, blue, green, history is made up of many mistakes and trasgressions against mankind. However with error should come knowledge not denial, for that is the only true way that history is not destined to repeat itself.

That sounds so dirty and harsh, and I'm hurt, but nonetheless, as stated in the other post, I'm skeptical anytime someone posts only to bump two threads with a link to a retail site.

Those who advertise pay to do so through the banner system below. If you're not advertising, I'm sorry. It seemed like that.

Nonetheless, your first posts and subsequent harsh tone will both be excused, and you're welcome with open arms to prove me wrong.

Dear Luke,

If I appeared harsh then please accept my apologies.

My intent was to show others that there are sites selling copies of this movie. I wasn't going to make a moral judgement on the site. Everyone will have to make their own decision on it.

I gave the link to the site because I felt that there are many individuals who would love to see the "Song of the South" but probably who never will . At least, I assume, not in the near future and not in the US. I too prefer and have only purchased official Disney DVD's, but as a collector, I felt it would be only way one could ever see this movie.

I am not affliated with the web link that I stumbled across and passed on. It was my first post here after reading a story on "LaughingPlace.com" that refers to your site. After reading a couple of threads here on the "Song of the South"; I wanted to share a link that I found. That's all.

Fair enough. I apologize for the quick judgment. I agree with your SotS sentiments, too, it just seemed like you might have been advertising your (illegal) business. Sorry for the confusion and I do hope you'll stick around!
