Who thinks we should have International reviews?

Post by Wonderlicious »

Personally, I think we should. Although the US and Region 2 releases are fairly similar, some are not. An idea in the reviews is to do a multiregion comparison in terms of extras (maybe not in terms of video and audio, as PAL and NTSC formats vary). I personally think we should do them in the forum, but in the same style of layout as the site's current reviews with specific sections being reviewed as opposed to in one big blob, but make a link to them in the review index.

Your thoughts?

As you say, most DVDs are pretty much identical these days, but I think an odd footnote at the bottom of the reviews is possible to list supplemental differences when applicable/known. However, this may be hard in practice, as many European discs have additional supplements if their language is selected from the initial menu (for example, Treasure Planet has an extra music video if you select French from the initial menu, Atlantis has an extra music video and featurette on the French language voice artists). Things could get messy. Perhaps it would be more of a side-project we could all contribute to?

As for "Exclusive" or drastically different discs (Like the UK 101 Dalmations (Live Action) or the old international single disc Pocahontas) then I think a case could be made for a whole new review. Europeans seem to make up a significant percentage of the members.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database
