Hey, if you're pushing children's books, then I guess it's a thing for them too, right?eddy01 wrote:I love reading, its a thing for adults but I really enjoy that

Re: reading????
Unless what you are reading is "adult material", and you are not an adult, in which case it probably isn't a thing for children. But who am I to deny you what you enjoy.Luke wrote:Hey, if you're pushing children's books, then I guess it's a thing for them too, right?eddy01 wrote:I love reading, its a thing for adults but I really enjoy that

Ok, where to start?
I'm 25 old guy and loved Disney now about 15 years. As a child I ordered finnish Donald Duck magazine (it's called Aku Ankka btw). It was the great nineteeneighties and I remember reading that magazine and every now and then there was an article and pictures of some of the Disney movies. Those pictures were always so magical and beautiful and I was thinking how to get to see those films. I lived in a very little village and there wasn't any real cinema nearby so I never saw any Disney films in theaters as a child. I just kept dreaming and looking those pictures. Then - one day I saw an article of this upcoming film - The Little Mermaid. That was it! I fell in love that film and that was the day I became a real Disney freak
And then The Little Mermaid hit the stores. My mom bought it for me as a christmas gift and finally I could see that magical film. And oh boy, it WASN'T disappointment! It was worth the wait. Of course I had to see every Disney film released after that and those were almost as good as the mermaid, but it remains my favourite film even today!
Nowadays I own every Disney classics in DVD (of course Bambi & Cinderella still in VHS, but that changes soon
) I collect Disney films on DVD, posters, Disney's art of -books and soundtracks. I think my collection is quite nice and it's always nice to share those things and feelings with other Disney fans and my friends who like Disney - luckily I got some.
Of course there'd be much more to tell you about me and my relationship to Disney. But I think you get to know in time. Just ask if you want to. And nice to be here finally (my second post)!

My Disney Story...
Well, I'm 19 and my first Disney Movie was BEAUTY & the BEAST!
and it was a "magical experience for me" since at the time, I was only 6 or 7. My babysitter had a huge collection of Disney videos and I would always watch them every week! Watching all the disney cartoons made me feel like a Princess--well, actually, I still feel like a Princess
. My all-time favorite character is WINNIE THE POOH! Unlike most teenagers, my closet isn't full of clothes, but it's filled with Winnie the Pooh plushes--both big and small! And no one is allowed to touch them!
I wouldn't exactly call myself a completely obsessed Disney fan
, but whenever a Disney movie is released, I'm always there to watch it. My Disney DVD collection isn't as high as I want it to be
(mainly because I like getting the 2-Disc Collector's Edition or I don't have the money when it comes out). I can't let ANYONE touch our (my boyfriend & I) collection if they want to borrow it because those are "treasures" to me! I'm so "obsessed" with the Disney songs, I managed to find most of the songs on the piano and play them!
I've gone to Disneyland four times since I moved to California but I still want to go to Disneyworld. Ahh, dreams I hope to achieve! To sum it up: I love everything Disney!! and I bet most of the things my family will get me for Christmas will be Disney!

Just wondering? / Your disney Story
Well I am 26. I have made a few posts but have just stuck to reading more of the discussion than anything. I have loved disney since I was 5? I remember in the 4th grade we had to do a biography on someone. I picked Walt Disney. Because then I always wanted to meet him and it was then that I found out he had died. I went to walt disney world a year later and had a blast!! I went back my senior year in high school and took tons of pictures of the castle to add to my painted Disney Bedroom. I remember when Fantasia got re-released to the theatres when I was in middle school. My mom offered to take me and a few of my friends. My friends though it was weird. But I fell in love with it. Especially Hop Low. He is the smallest Mushroom guy that can not follow along. I love him. He is on my disney pair of jeans that I painted. I had just about completed my Disney collection on VHS when DVD's started coming out. Now I am basically caught up on the DVD front and have given or sold my VHS's. My favorite is Sleeping Beauty. My husband can quote the lion King with no problem. I always say to him cut it out and he says "Can't cut it out it will grow right back!!" Well that is my story. It seems as though you have some really good realtionship going though with the forums.
I was wondering if any one ever noticed that the Dad in Cinderella is also the Dad of Prince Phillip in Sleeping Beauty. Or at least they are a very close drawing of the same character.

I'm 33 years old. I grew up in a strict religious home, and we didn't go to movies, but my dad took our family to the drive-in theater once to see "101 Dalmatians" when I was very young -- I have only a very vague memory of the experience.
There was another time I got to experience a Disney film in the theater when my mom babysat a few other kids one summer and we went to see "Pinocchio", and it opened with "The Small One" -- an underrated short film that marked the directorial debut of a guy named Don Bluth, and it's also a short that Disney barely even acknowledges anymore because of its religious theme. It's since become one of my favorite annual holiday viewings, and I'd give my liver to see it digitally remastered and released as a special edition DVD.
It's ironic that I actually remember more about seeing "The Small One" than I do about seeing "Pinocchio".
And even though we didn't go to movies otherwise, when VHS became "all the rage" in the 80's, we got a VCR and because my parents insisted that we see G-rated movies only, which Disney produced in abundance, we eventually rented/bought every Disney movie ever made up until that time. My childhood favorites were: Treasure Island, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, Davy Crockett, Condorman, One Of Our Dinosaurs Is Missing, Blackbeard's Ghost, Tron, The Love Bug, Pete's Dragon, Robin Hood, Lady & The Tramp, Alice In Wonderland, The Sword In The Stone, Hot Lead & Cold Feet, The Apple Dumpling Gang, and most anything else with Tim Conway and Don Knotts, and I had a huge crush on Hayley Mills from seeing Pollyanna, In Search of the Castaways, and The Parent Trap (although I didn't know she was already in her 30's by the time I saw those movies).
I named one of my dogs "Scamp" after reading a Disney storybook with a story sequel to "Lady & The Tramp" about one of the puppies that took after his dad.
"The Lonesome Ghosts" and "Mickey's Trailer" are probably my favorite Disney shorts, mainly because I had one of those Fisher Price movie reel viewing things and I could watch it forward and backward and really fast and really slow. I pretty much memorized every frame of those two cartoons. And I've always thought Donald was hiliarious (although not as funny to me as Daffy Duck, my favorite cartoon character).
I also had a lot of Disney movies on vinyl records: The Prince & The Pauper, Treasure Island (which I still know nearly verbatim, from memory, to this day), Winnie The Pooh, Lady & The Tramp, Peter Pan, Alice In Wonderland, Mary Poppins, Little Toot, Peter & The Wolf, and many others.
Today, I wouldn't label myself as a "Disney fan" because of the production of endless pointless sequels and Disney's business attitude in general -- having turned its back on most of Walt's vision and business practices. But I still love a lot of Disney movies. "Beauty & The Beast" is one of my all-time favorites, and everything Pixar has produced to date has been gold. I own many Disney films on DVD, and look forward to more great DVD product in the future... especially with the hopes that they'll eventually re-release their pan-and-scan titles in their original format on DVD.

Here's My Disney Story
First of all I am 28 and live in Canada. So we get the same releases as the U.S. and on the same day. I have a big Disney collection that I started about 9 years ago. Most of it is on vhs. I've been a Disney fan since I was a small child. My first Disney movie that I seen in the theatres was Robin Hood. I also remember seeing Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. My favorite Disneys' are the fairytales. Although I collect Pixar, I am also a collector of the Winnie the Pooh. I've been to Disneyland, but wasn't impressed. But I do occasionally shop at the Disney Store. And I collect Winnie the Pooh merchandise. I am sorry to say that I am not a big fan of the feature films. Although there maybe the odd one that I like. I am mostly a fan of the Animated works. I don't like Mickey or Minnie. I like Donald, Goofy, and Pluto. I just started collectiing Disney dvds in late 2003. So I missed Snow White Platinum Edition. I also missed out on buying the Disney Classic The Little Mermaid when it was first available in 1990 or 1991. I have the 1998 vhs version. But I am looking forward to the Platinum Edition. I've also missed buying The Lady and the Tramp which I also heard is coming out the same year. I am glad they decided to release the Platinum Editions. Tomorrow I am going to complete my collection of the Lion King Trilogy. Toodles

I'm 19 years old. As far back as I can remember, I've always loved Disney. When I was little my room was decorated with Mickey/Minnie. When I was about 3 or 4 years old I watched a VHS of Sleeping Beauty and was absolutely hooked. I watched that movie everyday for at least a year. I think I finally wore out the tape, lol. After that, I fell in love with many other Disney movies, including Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast (the first movie I saw in theatres), 101 Dalmations, Mary Poppins, and The Lion King.
By the time I was 11 or 12, I stopped watcing Disney movies. I guess I thought I was "too old." Then about 3 years ago I was laying in bed and couldn't get to sleep, so I decided to watch a movie. I looked through my old VHS's and The Little Mermaid caught my eye. I hadn't seen it since I was about 8 so I decided to watch it. I got so wrapped up in the movie that I had to turn it off to get to sleep, lol. The next day at school I kept thinking about how I couldn't wait to get home and watch the rest of it.
Since then, I've been hooked on Disney all over again. I've watched some newer movies I hadn't seen, re-watched some old ones I'd forgotten about, and I am waiting impatiently for the ones that aren't yet out on DVD.
