I find it incredibly hard to choose between Fantasia 2000, The Emperor's New Groove, and Atlantis: The Lost Empire.
I like them all for different reasons, so it is difficult to compare them.
I'd probably place Atlantis first, simply because it has an epic scope to it that is sorely missing from most of the current animated films. Sure, I like small comedies as much as the next guy (Lilo & Stitch being my fave), but I think it was about time Disney did a ripping adventure yarn with humans, and this one works.
Fantasia 2000 is brilliant is parts, but it does fall short in others (the choice of celebrities rubs me the wrong way for some reason). It didn't leave me with the lasting effects that the original did, and it falls short in places. However, I would easily rank it in my top Disney films of all time.
TENG was funny as hell, and has cow related humour. How could I not like this? Ditto Tarzan. However, I felt Tarzan bordered on "style over substance" at times, or maybe it was just because we had been over the Tarzan story so fan times, and all this film had that was new was "tree surfing".
Mulan takes itself far too seriously, which was a fault of Pocahontas as well. Still, it is a worthy addition to the Classics, and I do enjoy it (now...).
I guess if I HAD to rank them I'd say:
1. Atlantis
2. Fantasia 2000
3. TENG
4. Tarzan
5. Mulan
The Emperor's New Groove is my favorite for the following reason's: 1. I really like the design 2. It's the Disney movie I laughed at the most in theaters!
1. Mulan
2. The Emperor's New Groove (wooooh!)
3. Tarzan
4. Fantasia 2000
5. Atlantis (not just my least favourite of these movies but of all Disney's movies )
1. Mulan
2. The Emporer's New Groove
3. Tarzan
4. Atlantis: The lost empire
5. Fantasia 2000 (never saw all of it)
