That's a really great cover. I hope they keep it. In Finland The Incredibles will be released in March as well. Can't wait! :)

*didn't read replies to this*
Usually when a DVD is released early (THIS early) It usually means it's doing/it did bad in theatres. Such as Cat in the Hat. Released 3-5 months later. That's what I usually think. Either that or people want it NOW.

I haven't seen it yet, so I wouldn't know.
But geez, that's quite fast. It came out in November 5th......and easter I do believe is...I can't remember... Like April or May. So that is quite fast.

Well it's certainly not doing bad in theaters; $185.8 million after 20 days. In any event, this insert was surely printed before the film was released in theaters.

Release windows of theaters-to-home video are obviously getting shorter, and waiting a year (or close to it) is just about never done except on holiday films.

The following listing is on EmpireDVD in Australia:

13 Apr 05
- Incredibles, The

Now, a word of warning about this. The date itself is speculation as it is "coming soon". HOWEVER, the month is accurate, as the 'Coming Soon' next to the title indicates the studio has given them a month, but not an exact date. So Easter 2005 is a pretty right.

This will be a REALLY fast turnaround for the DVD - it isn't coming out in theatres until December 26 here, so a less than 4 month gap!

On a related note, National Treasure, in theatres here at the moment, has been given a 27th April "guesstimate", so we are looking at a late April release for that as well.

More dates over in the International forum...

since the DVD is coming out so soon, i am wondering when Disney will decided to issue the press release, i am guessing after the christmas holiday like in early January.

i am very excited to buy this on DVD, it was I think the 2nd best film of 2004 next to Spider-Man 2.

Well, on the "Home on the Range" DVD, which was recently released here in Brazil, they already have a trailer advertising "The Incredibles" DVD for Spring 2005! And the movie hasn't even oficially premiered in theaters here!

Hmm...I don't think this has been brought up before: I was just thinking and, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't DVDs store up to 4 hours of video? Well, TI is 1 hour and 55 minutes, so putting both widescreen and fullscreen would mean that the disc would be filled to about 3 hours and 50 minutes from just the movie alone, leaving only 10 minutes. Seeing how crazy Pixar is for their DVD menus (and you'd think that they would overdo it for this movie), the menu screens would take about 5 to 10 minutes themselves. You don't often see a DVD quite that packed to the brim anyway, but then you have audio files to think about. It seems that Pixar usually has at least three alternate audio tracks: audio commentary and two other language tracks. I don't know how much space audio tracks take up, but I really, really doubt that they could all fit into that final 5 minutes.

So, the only way that you can get both the widescreen and fullscreen into this set is to release it Finding Nemo style and have widescreen on disc one and fullscreen on disc two. I would really hate that! Besides, the movie is about 15 minutes longer than Nemo, so if they did it that way, it would mean that there would be at least 30 minutes less of bonus features than Nemo. I can't see a movie like Incredibles having less bonus features, can you?

The only other option has already been mentioned, and that would be to release the movie in widescreen alone, which I would not mind at all!

The smart way to do multiple versions in the same set would be to do it Nemo style, with different formats on the different discs. I would prefer that they didn't do a fullscreen edition at all, or they just do two separate versions (each 2-discs). Pixar's special features are the best. I wouldn't want to lose any to get a chopped up (or reformatted, for that matter) version of the film that I'd never watch.

I'm wondering, if they do a reformating, will they do it this time "4:3" full frame, or "16:9" full frame?.. (Remember Brother Bear? Disney's last Scope-wide film? ;) )

Cus I'm sure some people that have 16:9 Tvs wont want to see it with 'em darn bars...

(not us of course Image )

Could be. The odd thing about that is why they made it 1.66:1 and not simply fill the 16x9 TV. Those sidebars would probably still get cut off due to overscan, but there's bars on the side and top and bottom on a 4x3 screen, hypothetically speaking.

Well I could put forth a couple of theories why but people probably woudn't wanna read them ;) and That1GuyPictures just made a good one up too on the Poppins thread.

The interesting part is that Brother Bear "widescreen" (as opposed to Scope) and Poppins widescreen now seem to share similar aspect ratios/formating/characteristics.. We've had Disney Ratio and Disney Family Friendly..

May this be the new era of: Disney Mini-Pan/Scan MicroPillarboxing? ;)

More UK Incredibles DVD news, from just published DVD Review magazine
Although we've yet to amass all the details of the DVD we can confirm that 18 minutes of deleted scenes will be included on the disc, along with a host of outtakes and bloopers, a behind-the-scenes making-of documentary and the enjoyable animated short 'Jack Jack Attack'
The magazine seems to suggest that the release will be one disc, but the BBFC classifications above confirm a 2 disc release for the UK (Disc 1 Intro is listed).

No news of if the deleted scenes will be final, rough or storyboard only (or indeed a mixture of all 3) and it is not sure of the outtakes and bloopers are genuine outtakes, or contrived outtakes such as found in A Bug's Life and Toy Story 2.

The UK release is March 21st.

This release sounds a bit meatier than Finding Nemo's. Perhaps this will be a Monsters, Inc. style of 2-disc afterall?

It's different. I'm assuming it will be kind of like "Mike's New Car" in Monsters, Inc. "Jack Jack Attack" will be some three to five minute short film with the characters from The Incredibles.

I'm kind of doubting it now. TI will have a 27-minute "making of" feature like Finding Nemo did. Also, it sounds like that 80 minutes of features are all on the first disc, meaning that the movie is probably done nemo style. I just desperately hope that if that's the case, that disc two will not be just "extra stuff" like it was for Nemo. There was way too little on the second disc, and there was a lot more I would have liked to learn about that movie... Hopefully this set will have more on the making of the movie than nemo did.[/url]
