If you wanted lithos with your Lion King Gift Set...

Post by Ariel »

Forget about it! I was informed to day that the free lithographs will not be included in the Gift Set pre-order. Apparently if you want to spend more money for the Gift Set you don't get anything special for buying it at Disney. I emailed them today re: that and a few other things. This is a copy.

I wanted to voice my opinion on a few different subjects today.
1. What is it with the pan'n scan dvd's? I bought my widescreen tv just to view movies in the Original Aspect Ratio!
The following Movies I refuse to buy until they are released in their OAR.
Operation Dumbo Drop (2.35:1 OAR) (16:9 widescreen in Region 2 <http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... tedisne-21> - UK, Netherlands, Norway, Italy and Region 4 - Italy)
- Tom and Huck (2.35:1 OAR)
- Return to Snowy River (2.35:1 OAR)
- Snowball Express
- Savage Sam
- Man of the House
- Heavyweights
- First Kid
- A Kid in King Arthur's Court
- Blank Check
- The Absent-Minded Professor
- Gus
- The Moon Spinners
- The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes
- The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again
- The Muppet Christmas Carol
- The Muppet Treasure Island (16:9 widescreen <http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... tedisne-21>, but edited for Region 2 UK, Netherlands)
- Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (16:9 widescreen in Region 2 <http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... tedisne-21>)
- Honey, I Blew Up the Kid (16:9 widescreen in Region 2 <http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... tedisne-21>)
- Babes in Toyland
- White Fang (16:9 widescreen in Region 2 <http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... tedisne-21> and Region 4 - Australia)
- Snow Dogs (16:9 widescreen in Region 2 - UK, Germany, and Region 4 - Australia)
- Max Keeble's Big Move (16:9 widescreen in Region 4 - Australia)
- The Country Bears (16:9 Widescreen in Region 2 <http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... tedisne-21> and Region 4)
- Cheetah
- The Journey of Natty Gann (2.35:1 OAR)
- Blackbeard's Ghost
- Air Bud
- Air Bud: Golden Receiver
- A Goofy Movie (non-anamorphic widescreen in Region 2 <http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... tedisne-21> and Region 4 - Australia)
- George of the Jungle
- Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey
2. Upon taking my children to see Finding Nemo at the theatre I was extremely concerned that one of the trailers was for Pirates of the caribean. While I realize that it is a Buena Vista film. I believe it was completely inappropriate to show this trailer featuring violence and scary skeletons before a show that you KNOW small children will be at. My children were both frightened as were the children next to us. What was Disney thinking? Does Disney only think with its $$$$ anymore?

3. The decision to only offer lithographs with the pre-order of The Lioni King DVD and NOT with the Liopn King DVD Gift Set is very disheartening. I, for one, would love to buy the gift set. But alas, I collect the lithographs. So what am I to do? Buy both? Spend $60.00 for two copies? Thats just silly/ basically while you are offering a bonus (lithographs) to those who pre-order the Lion King DVD you offer nothing to those of us who WANT to spend more and pre-order the better Lion King DVD Gift Set from Disney?
So why should I buy it at all?

I would appreciate a response to my concerns.

Thank you
A Disney Lover who has become so very frustrated lately...

I suggest that everyone email them as well so they will know that it is a completely ludicrous decision not to offer the lithograph bonus when buying the Gift SEt.

Can you tell I'm pissed? :x  :x  :x :x

So .... are you pissed :?

I don't get the deal either. I guess if I was spending $40 on the Box Set I'd expect to receive the lithos, too ... but perhaps they only budgeted for the standard orders and simply don't have enough to cover both? Just theorizing out loud. If you have a Disney Store close, why not head out there once the pre-orders end and see if they have any extra sets?

I don't get the deal with the lithos either, very dumb! Maybe they feel that you get lithos with the gift set, but those are different and they are rolled up. My only suggestion is buy the gift set for yourself, then buy the regular version for the lithos and give the second copy out as a gift. I disagree with you on the Pirates of the Carribean trailer... mainly because it was shown on television quite a bit. Most kids already had the opportunity to see it many times at home, so I don't think that Disney saw it as a big deal showing it there as well.

I want the Gift Set and the lithos too. Seriously, when you think about it, who would want to spring for the Gift Set...and NOT want lithos?

Who were the ad geniuses who came up with that one?

I suppose I'll settle for the Gift Set and no lithos. I can probably get them off eBay if I really, really have the urge.

Damn Disney screwing with their loyal customers and fans again. :(

I'd place replace their marketing and PR people with anyone on this forum anytime.

Some people are selling the lithographs and portfolio for only 7 - $10 USD.

Well mykids are ony 2 & 4 and I don't let them watch a whole lot of "adult" TV. That being said, it was the first time they had seen the trailers. And they were scared. When you go to the show with your kids to see a cartoon you don't expect to have a preview with skeletons jumping out at them!

Plus the way the sound design of trailers is...it doesn't surprise me that a young child would be overwhelmed by it.

no Disney creates lithos in bulks and bulks. i know some stores throw alot of lithos when the preorders are over if they have them instock. so i dont know why they don't offer them with the gift set! they should! :D
