Toy Story Ultimate Toy Box Question

Post by jpws6 »

I have been lurking here for a while and finally decided to register. My question is this. I am looking at picking up the toy story box set on ebay. What are the giveaways to signal it is a bootleg copy? The one I am hoping to get is sealed and has the best buy price tag along with the energizer rebate on the back so I am fairly confident it is real, but how can I tell on others? Also, $100 seems to be the going price? Thanks.

Sounds like a good buy. Usually if they show you real pictures, not images off the internet, then their the real deal. Also, check their feedback and see if anyone else has purchased the same set. The Ultimate Toy Box set is not one they target for bootlegs anyway so I woulden't be to worried. As for the price $100 sounds pretty good being factory sealed.

GOOD LUCK! :)

There is really never a definate way to tell if you are buying off of ebay. Like derekg said, check the sellers feedback and make sure they have their own picture on ebay (not a stock photo). If they don't have a photo up, email them and ask them to send you a photo. Also, ask if they can take a picture of the security seal that comes on the dvd.
The Toy Story box set sounds o.k. since it still has the price tag and the rebate sticker on it. Just be very careful buying Disney dvds off of Ebay.

Make sure the three dvds come in a shiny silver box, the box then goes inside a plastic slipcover w/ the characters drawn on top.

I lucked out and found a brand new sealed set on eBay for $54.00 and it was worth every penny.

I was tricked with thi item and I bought a bootleg one for 40$ with the "buy iy Now" option :(
But I later buy the rea lcopy for 86$.

The thing you also need to need when it's real picture : the box that all is silver-like is the bootleg one (or at least asian..) with the characters drawn but not filled with colors.
The real Region 1 is all in color (especially the characters). Also, sometimes bootleg copies are said to be a "metalic box set". That's not ture + bootleg.
Chandler (to Phoebe, over the phone) : Listen, Joey isn't gonna be here tonight so why don't you come over and I'll let you uh.. feel my bicep; or maybe more...

I'm not sure what you're describing here Jordan.

The real Region 1 set is a metallic box with line-art outlines of the characters, and a plastic outer overlay that slides over top of the silver box. This overlay has full colour "normal" characters.
