While not a true 'rerelease', Tron is showing at a theater near me for a week at the beginning of next year (They claim it's a new 35mm print...)
I would like to see the new Disney redubbed My Neighbor Totoro released at least to art theaters before the ever pushed back DVD release (which wouldn't surprise me if this indeed, did happen.)
Any of the Walt-era classics should get at least limited art house releases before their respective DVD releases.
The one I personally would like to see in the theater is the Adventures Of Ichibod Crane and Mr Toad, which most people have never seeen (as well as extremely entertaining
Why they didn't release the Extended Cut of Return Of The King this month dumbfounds me as the other two extended cuts drew very well AFTER their dvd releases.
Rereleases are good promotional tools and frankly help respect of the films when people see them in the format for which they were created.. The only problem for art house releases is the prints will tour around and small markets won't get them at all.
Films that deserve a theatrical re-release.

thats too bad, I dont have an Imax theater near me but I would have found one to see the Little Mermaid too bad it wont happenWonderlicious wrote:Welcome, bluemoon86. Sadly, I don't think that Disney is planning to reissue their films into cinemas. It's a shame, as they would look beautiful up all big. They were planning to reissue The Little Mermaid and a few others on IMAX, but alas, it never happenedbluemoon86 wrote:Is Disney planning on re-releasing any of its classics in the near future?

First off, I love that avatar Sh00tingstar.
Now onto the meat...
I would love to see any of them re-released since I haven't seen a Disney film on the big screen since uhhh... 101 Dalmations I believe back in the early 90's I think it was.
I wish I could see more but I have no friends who would see them with me. They always take their boyfriends/girlfriends and not their friends! BAH!
Anyways yes I would see any in theatres. As for deserving, well maybe atleast the Platinum editions with Sleeping Beauty included int he pack.
