Was there ever a Gold Collection Re-issue of Melody Time?
Was there ever a Gold Collection Re-issue of Melody Time?
If anyody has The Rescuers Down Under Gold Collection DVD, watch the first preview which promotoes the Gold Collection catalogue and you'll notice at the end of the advertisement, they show a bunch of Region 1 DVD's from the Gold Collection moving accross the screen in a line. At the very end is a box for Melody Time which is all blue and has Donald Duck, Johnny Appleseed and a bunch of other characters posing on the front cover... I was just curious if anyone could explain this for me?

That cover art for Melody Time that you saw was the cover art for the 50th Anniversary release of Melody Time.
I couldnt get the picture onto here but here is a link that will lead you to a picture of the cover art you were talking about.

Thanks but Im 99% sure that WASNT the picture.
This one was all blue and didnt seem to have all those banners at the top. In fact Im pretty sure I saw a Gold Collection title.
What is this 50th Ann. Edition though, does it exist in R1 DVD format and what extra features does it have over the regular GC? Is it still edited?
(Btw, that looks like a VHS copy)
and in future, if you want to post pictures, just enter the url (right click properties and copy the picture address) and than paste it in between these: , only without any spaces...

Well of course its the video cover art. Melody Time wasnt on DVD until 2001. I also remeber watching a commercial of the Gold Collection on (i think) the Tarzan video, and instead of seeing new cover art for the movies i just saw the old cover art for each one and some of them had the Gold Collection symbol on them. as you see this is the cover i remember seeing in that commercial.

This is the Gold Collection cover art for Melody Time.

The 50th Anniversary edition came out in 1998 was indeed edited. Melody Time wasnt on Disney DVD until 2001.The only thing special about the 50th Anniversary edition is just the cover art. The Gold Collection edition is much better than the 50th Anniversary edition. [/quote]

I've seen that preview on another movie-I'm like 99.9% sure that is the cover-if you look, they also didn't change the covers for Pocahontas. They just rid of the Masterpiece Collection banner and logo, and replaced it with the Gold Classic Collection banner. It doesn't matter, anyway-since they decided to change the cover altogether. Now the Gold Classic Collection releases of Toy Story, Pinocchio, Mulan, Alice in Wonderland, and Robin Hood didn't change from their previous covers.
Defy Gravity...
Just in case there are people reading this who don't frequent the International DVD forum, the UK Melody Time is uncut. The 50th Anniversary edition came out in 1998 was indeed edited. Melody Time wasnt on Disney DVD until 2001.The only thing special about the 50th Anniversary edition is just the cover art. Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Just checked The Rescuers Down Under DVD and the advertisements for Melody Time, Pocahontas, and Fun and Fancy Free displayed their old Masterpiece Collection VHS art. On most of the other Gold Classic Collection DVDs, the same is true for The Sword in the Stone as well.
What would this wretched world be like without Disney?
