What's In Store For Disney In 2005?

Post by Boogedy Boo »

What does everyone think will come in 2005 from Disney, in terms of movies, tv shows, tv movies even?

Will Gargoylys sell well enough to release Duck Tales, Chip N Dale, Darkwing Duck, TaleSpin and many others?

Will Disney release more of of there older movies and tv movies? I hope so i'm been waiting for Mr. Boogedy and Child of Glass for I don't know how long, i'm wishing that 2005 will finally be it for those two films? I hope they release some of there newer movies ftom the last ten years or so such as Principal Takes A Holiday and many others I can't remember.

Will DuckTales the Movie finally come out?

What TV shows will follow now that Boy Meets World, Home Improvement and Golden Girls have paved the way? Disney seems to be on a good track releasing seasons, i'm excited to know what else is up there sleeves.

What special editons for films will be next or coming?

Is there actual confermation about the Pocahontas date? For all those that have the Marry Poppins DVD already, is there a Pocahontas trailer?

If Pocahontas were coming out on February 8, I think Disney would have put out an announcement now. As it is, I doubt we'd see it before early March.

I'm really craving some Walt era films. Aladdin, Mulan, Pocahontas, and Lilo are all releases to get excited about (and then there's the possibilities of Hunchback and Hercules, the latter of which really excites me), but I would also really like to beef up my classic Disney collection.

So far it looks as though we're only getting 2 or 3 releases in the way of older movies. I'll be buying Bambi, but I've never been all that fond of it. I am, however, EXTREMELY excited about Cinderella! And then there's the possibility of Dumbo, which will hopefully come around next year! Then maybe 2006 will bring even more, like Pinocchio and Peter Pan 2-Disc sets!

If Bambi were to sell exceptionally well, I think it's possible that we could see The Little Mermaid in Spring '05. After all, Mermaid is a big enough title that it can support itself at any time of the year, so if Disney knew that spring releases could still bring in big bucks (based on Bambi) and that fall didn't necessarily guarantee instant success (based on Aladdin), maybe they would want to give holiday support to a slightly less high profile Platinum than TLM. Or maybe this is all wishful thinking on my part. A lot of it may boil down to what Disney is wanting their quarterly report to show at the time.

Sharing the line-up with Mermaid? Hmm. I still think Dreamer's idea of "2006 goes to the dogs" is a good one, and something Disney might actually use, so The Jungle Book seems likely.

The TV releases have me very excited. Having watched Golden Girls and a chunk of BMW S2 , I can't wait for the next round, especially as the seasons keep improving! I especially can't wait for BMW S4 (possibly in May '05?), with the Disney World episode! :-D Hopefully a few new TV series (Ducktales? Even Stevens?) will be added to the roster as well, especially since Lizzie only has 2 volumes left to go.

As far as live-action goes, with Mary Poppins out of the way, I wonder if Disney will be giving another of their popular live-action films a deluxe two-disc treatment next year? Seems like a missed opportunity if they don't. (I'm rooting for Pete's Dragon! :-D)

We'll get at least one wave of Treasures in '05, possibly two, which is something to look forward to as well.

Aside from those, I guess the only other buzz would be the Aladdin sequels, which I'm looking forward to (and the Cinderella sequels, which I could care less for). Oh, and that rumor about something called... Song Of The South???

well, last year we didn´t know about a Mulan Special edition coming this fall, there´s got to be another special edition coming fall ´05 to promote close Cinderlla, Like Mulan this year and sleeping beauty last year.

I´m really hoping for a Hercules Special Edition, since that´s another golden collection edition wich needs an update, with anamorfic pristine transfer, and those lovely special features, and yes, a virtual pegasus ride!!

I want a Hunchback speciall edition also, but I think Hercules deserves to come first.

...also I think we´ll get a Tarzan CE re-release sometime soon

Hmm that's strange cos in Australia there's already a Pocahontas 2-Disc Special Edition Set released in most DVD retail stores and it's quite cheap as well for about $16AU at JB Hi-Fi, Big-W has it on sale for $15AU.

Can we definitely expect that Disney release Pocahontas Masterpiece Edition and Lilo and Stitch Masterpiece Edition for 2005?
