The New Disney Trailers Thread: 11/21 The Pacifier, HHG2TG

Post by Just Myself »

In this thread we can discuss new trailers for upcoming films from Walt Disney Pictures.

Current discussion: The Pacifier, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

These trailers were shown at National Treasure. The Pacifier is about a Navy Seal who is sent to the suburbs to guard a family of kids who are a "matter of national security". Vin Diesel plays Navy Seal Shane Wolfe. The trailer, while being very silly, looks hilarious.

The other trailer is the teaser for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The teaser doesn't show much(make than ANYTHING), but surely it will spark wonder in what it's about and people will read about the plot online. But the Earth blowing up to Louis Armstong's What a Wonderful World is kinda funny, unless you think it's a "sensitive subject" as some at IMDb have labeled it, then it's just not interesting.

And of course you don't have to see National Treasure to see these trailers. These and other ones can be found here on our page for Upcoming Disney Movies:

P.S. Just Myself, that's Louis Armstrong.

I thought so, but I didn't want to go and upset a legend by screwing up his name.

I'm sorry, but some people think blowing up the Earth in the Hitchhikers trailer is "sensitive"? What?

I suppose that's because of terrorism, not because of the much more important and worrying mass pollution and destruction of Earth's environment by mankind too.

Madness.

Anyhow, I have to say, the trailer for HHGTTG does not interest me in the slightest. I hope Disney can do the film right, but I have my doubts.

Yes, by that token the whole Star Wars Trilogy boxset should have been pushed back, because it is effectively endorsing terrorist action - that is, a group of rebels intent on cause as much harm to the Empire as they can.

(That is if we are truly concerned that terrorism is a 'sensitive' subject).

Besides of which, this isn't actually endorsing terrorism, it is about a completely different problem.

I guess we should renamed Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers book and film while we are at it...

I saw both these trailers for the first time in front of National Treasure the other day (a movie which actually turned out to be not too bad). I really hate to admit this, but Pacifier looks pretty appealing. I don't know why, but I have an inexplicable want to see it. The Hitchhiker trailer very well may be the best teaser trailer for an original movie that I've seen. It completely gets your attention, and raises interest in just over a minute.
