Oh yeah... National Treasure. I'm sure a ton of people are looking forward to that one.

Life often leaves us standing bare, naked and dejected with a lost opportunity. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words: "Too late."

Actually I'd expect it to perform at least fairly well to say the least. General synopses indicate it shares only some similarities with Dan Brown's Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code but genius television & theatrical marketing (who knew Disney was capable of such a thing for one of their own films?) will likely lock on to those books' tremendous following, painting it as almost a sister film to them.Paka wrote:Oh yeah... Feh... we shall see. Personally I'm not putting a lot of stock in this one, though - especially coming out when it is. Betcha it'll get buried under all of the other holiday competition. :-p

Looks like it will be the 6th or 7th-highest second weekend performance ever. Sweat!
Looks like my prediction was on the money too! Incredibles - $51, Polar - $23.5. U Huh U Huh U Huh

As do I, but it seems unlikely. Shrek 2 was released in the summertime, so it got better attendance. By the end of Shrek 2's second week, it had already made $236 million total, but The Incredibles only got $144 million. Plus, so many people who don't like animated movies because they're "for kids", will see the Shrek movies because of their reputation for being funny. As for Incredibles, people I know would say "an animated superhero movie? What are they thinking? That's going to be stupid." Those aren't my thoughts, that's just how I know many people feel.PatrickvD wrote:I sooooo hope it beats Shrek 2
the Topic of this Thread was "Box Office Watch: 'Polar' 'challenges' 'Incredibles" which is obviosly that is didn't seeing that The Incredibles was #1 for the 2nd week.
but this week The Incredibles gained $51 million for a 10 day total of $144.1 million, and the Polar Express only got $30.8 million for a 5 day total. now here is something interesting, this is from www.comingsoon.net
"Warner Bros.' The Polar Express, which reportedly cost $270 million to make and market, collected a so-so $23.5 million over the three day weekend and has made a total of $30.8 million since opening on Wednesday"
does anyone know how much the Incredibles cost to make, and market? i am just curious, becuase for Polar Express to cost $270 million to make and market, and then only have it make $30 million its first week, thats low, and to tell you the truth, i expected it to make more, its a good movie, and the book is great.

BoxOfficeMojo.com's Incredibles page posts the film's production budget as $92 Million. Though it doesn't show the budget for advertising, its been reported that Disney is spending a humungous $200 Million for its marketing budget.saving107 wrote:does anyone know how much the Incredibles cost to make, and market?
HOLY MOLY! $270 MILLION IS WAAAAAAY TOO MUCH TO BLOW ON AN ANIMATED FILM PERIOD!!!! They shouldve thought twice about its holiday competition. Even though I do wanna see it.
Why are marketing costs so huge?!!!
Because Hollywood is slowly sinking into a hole of its own making.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database
Polar Express and SpongeBob are really the only children oriented movies that will be competing with the Incredibles until Lemony Snickets comes out on December 17.
Thanksgiving weekend is always a big movie weekend. Adults will be tempted by many options, but adults going to the movies with children will have more limited choices. The Incredibles, Polar Express, and SpongeBob should all get a nice boost. Although SpongeBob has a strong fan base and Polar Express is holiday oriented, I expect that the Incredibles has a lot more appeal for many adults than the other two.

As you can see I'm not the biggest fan for Pixar films (especially Monsters and Nemo). But maybe The Incredibles may sway me to like the others better.Luke wrote:Those are some really low scores for the other films, castle!

I've got to chime in on the defense here and say that as much as I enjoyed The Incredibles (which definitely has more adult appeal), I've gotta give the edge to The Polar Express, which I found to be wonderful (I'm really frustated with the hostile remarks coming from some reviewers. Perhaps you guys have read some of them). That said, there's no hiding that The Polar Express is almost certainly a failure at this point, unless it can make some healthy long-term gross over the holidays, and there's no way they're going to cover that half a billion dollar price tag (the rumored cost when all the numbers, including overseas distribution and marketing, were crunched) in its theatrical run...perhaps neither in its home video life. I just wanted to give my recommendation for the film, though, which is really great. If you've already gone to see The Incredibles, I urge you to check out The Polar Express. It's sure to go down as one of the holiday classics.

You know I love the Polar Express story the acutla book I love reading it over the holidays just like I use to when I was younger. And I'll never forget seeing the first trailor for this movie. It completly dissapointed me it didnt seem appealing at all that and animation is creepy the children look like Demon kids (NO DISRESPECT to EVRYONE WHO LOVES THIS MOVIE) I just cant see myself paying money to see this movie. I dont wish it to fail but I am not surprised it is not doig that great.Udvarnoky wrote:I've got to chime in on the defense here and say that as much as I enjoyed The Incredibles (which definitely has more adult appeal), I've gotta give the edge to The Polar Express, which I found to be wonderful (I'm really frustated with the hostile remarks coming from some reviewers.
