Myself, I was quite content with the ending, and while I suppose it is left open for possible sequels, it's not something I think is necessary.

I second that. ;) It really was a nice little film all in itself. Sometimes less is more, people. I mean, think of if Brad Bird's previous film The Iron Giant had a sequel made, where the giant finally came back together and ran around having adventures with another kid here in the present day. That would kinda take all of the "oomph" out of the original film, imo. :|

Hey, did anyone find any other Pixar film cameos? I thought I saw Nemo or Dory in one scene, but I'm not sure. But I did catch the Pizza Planet truck while[drag cursor] they were driving the Winnebago back to the city to fight Syndrome. :thumb:

I wish I had read this thread again before seeing this for a second time today so I could look out for the Pizza Planet truck. I enjoyed the film better the second time. I saw it this afternoon with my roommate. This time instead of just being so amazed at everything I was able to listen and watch much more carefully and really enjoy the awesome story and all of the witty banter. As a big time comics superhero fan, I really dig this movie.

While I didn't notice any Pixar in-jokes, I did notice a neat little Jason Lee injoke that I didn't catch the first time. Jason Lee(Syndrome) is one of my favorite actors. His claim to fame of course being his roles in the Kevin Smith films, the first of which was as Brody in Mallrats. Well, in the beginning of The Incredibles when Mr. Incredible is trying to remember Buddy's name, he first calls him "Brody."

I missed a lot of those little things as well. I was distracted by the pretty scenery. Luckily I'm going back on Tuesday so I can check it all out again. Aparently it's worth waiting through the credits as well  , which I didn't do last time.

Not really! I did, and aside from nice graphics...there was nothing out of the ordinary.

spoiler alert about the stuff after the credits

I heard that it was jack jack playing with his parents and going all crazy like he did at the end (best part of the movie imho). My dh were debating wheter his parents would have known about the super powers cause they were too busy trying to figure out what to throw...somebody said they had to know cause they were playing with him after the credits and he was shape shifting

Well, If there is something that is supposed to be at the end, it wasn't on the print at my theater cuz I stayed until the very end. and nothing.

Saw it twice great movie, can't wait for dvd. Enough said! :P

There is nothing at the end, I work at a movie theatre where we have several prints of the movie and it isn't on any of them, perhaps whatever ending some people are hearing about will be on the dvd.

I too looked for inside pixar stuff but didn't see any...

How do I get a cool Incredibles avatar like everyone else? I want to be a FOLLOWER God Darn it!

Just saw the Incredibles today with Kram and Escapay. We sat pretty close to the front. Escapay was like, "Don't you love it when you're close enough to see the grain?"

Anyways...about the movie.

I loved it!!!!

Everything was totally awesome: the animations, the story, the characters. The portrayal of the characters' personalities through all the banters, conversations, and actions were so intricate and well thought out.
I'd say a whole bunch more about the film, but then I'd fill half a page of white words. If you haven't seen yet, you should definitely check it out.
When I left the movie theater, I wanted to be a superhero so bad.

Just got back from my second viewing and I'll probably go see it again before it's run ends. This is obviously a great action movie, but it works on so many other levels as well. I really liked the fact that Brad Bird did not feel the need to "sugar-coat" issues like death for kids. The scene where Elastigirl is explaining to her children that the bad guys will kill them if they get the chance was especially powerful and made you care about the fate of these characters, making the action scenes that followed even more intense and dramatic. Pixar did a better job of creating a real sense of danger than most live-action superhero movies do. Just a great movie, and I'm already anxiously awaiting the DVD.

I also really enjoyed Boundin'. I doubt many people will agree with me based on the previous reactions that were posted, but I think this may be the best short Pixar has produced. I'm a pretty cynical person myself, but I have to say that I find it very refreshing to see something with a genuine warmth and sincerity that doesn't rely on cynicism for cheap laughs. The 'Dr. Seuss' vibe of the dialogue also gave the film a nostalgic feel that really drew me in. Some may find it too sweet and cute, but I thought it was great. This was a very pleasant surprise for me, as I didn't have high expectation for it given the descriptions I'd read previously on the internet.

The only bad part was having to hear children all over the theater, on both screenings I attended, asking their parents "what's this?" and "when's the movie going to start" when Boundin' began. Of course, the 20 trailers that played before didn't help the situation. Such is the price you pay for the theater experience these days. It makes you really long for the days when going to the movies was an event, and when animated shorts were the norm and weren't greeted with confusion. Nowadays, all you get is commercials (which make me angry beyond words since I have already given the theater a lot of money through the ticket and the outrageous concession prices) and a bunch of crappy trailers for crappy movies. Anyway, sorry for getting off topic there for a bit.

With Boundin' did anyone get a "Silly Symphonie" vibe? It gave me a nostalgic feeling of the good ol' SS(not the nazi guards) days.

I wish Disney would still make quality shorts to show in front of movies :(

Boundin' could be the future of the Silly Simphonies!! Too bad it won't happend

Late impressions

Post by banjoboy »

The Incredibles opened over here (Sweden) on Friday, and I saw it at the first opportunity, which was Saturday.
WHAT A GREAT MOVIE!!!
Both I and my 17 yo son had wide smiles plastered on our faces the whole show and I was truly in awe of the unrelenting dedication to quality. Good story, very good script, lovable characters, great humor, great animation and a truly dazzling sound design. I bet this movie is going to snatch up a bunch of tech Oscars, and I wouldn't be surprised if it goes on to repeat BATB's feat.
Very, very good work, Pixar! I just wish I'd felt like this after I'd seen Brother Bear...

Not so much. Didn't most/all of the Silly Symphonies cartoon not have dialogue? Like I said in my review, it felt more Rankin/Bass-esque to me, and the Dr. Seuss comparison others have made feels on-target as well.

In any event, I liked it a lot, and even more in retrospect.

Just saw "The Incredibles" for the fourth time yesterday. It gets better with each showing. I don't know what people are saying about something at the end of the movie, during the credits or after they have run......I never leave a theater until the lights are totally on and the curtain has come down.

"Boundin' " was a real hoot. I too felt a little nostalgic about the 'Silly Symphonies' as others did. But that being said, I loved it and I hope they keep it on the DVD when it is released.

I think Pixar has raised the bar on CGI, and they will have a hard time topping this one.

I heard that they may be interested in doing a 30-minute show for Disney Channel in 2005, is that a possiblity?
