Hotmail users?

Post by AwallaceUNC »

Are there any other Hotmail users here? I have the basic free account and it was unexpectedly upgraded to 250 MB! Where I used to have nearly 90% of my account filled up, I now have less than 1%! Did this happen to anyone else's account? I'm very pleasantly surprised.

Some people have gotten the 250mb storage upgrade cause Hotmail are testing it out I think, just like when they switched up the interface a few years ago. They are gradually migrating everyone over to the 250mb limit, and I think that attatchments are being bumped up to 10mb. I guess Yahoo and Google gave them a swift kick in the ass.

After checking my inbox every day, for the past 6 months to make sure I wasn't at the 10mb limit, 250mb will be a walk in the park... now if only their stupid spam filter actually did its job, I might actually stick with Hotmail.

Yup, my friend and I were discussing this a few days ago. We both have Hotmail, and we both all of the sudden have 250 MB of space. I agree it is pretty cool, but I honestly don't know why they did it. I sense that there's some kinda string attached - like it's just a temporary promotional gimmick to get you to upgrade to the "Hotmail PLUS" pay service or something. *shrug*

But, if they've truly gone and permanently upgraded our accounts, I'm not complaining! ^_^

EDIT: Yeah... what Oliver said! :P

Hotmail announced that they were going to be upgrading both the basic and premium services way, way back around mid-2004.

So I wasn't surprised, but I was impatient.

In due time, everyone's account will be at 250 MB.

The big change is happening because of Gmail, which offers an unprecidented 1 GB of space. Recently, yahoo raised up to 100 mb to compete. This is hotmails response.

I personally prefer Gmail, yahoo, and then hotmail. even though Gmail is still in testing, I personally think it owns the daylights of the other two. Nothing too special though.

Ditto for me too! I used to have to check my e-mail everyday because I had some e-mails stored (~80%), but feared if i didn't clear it up soon I may miss important e-mails. But the 250mb definitely takes care of that fear.

I have Gmail, and it rocks. Not only its storage space beats Yahoo and Hotmail, but it's way faster and the features are better than both of them too.
