A New Pinocchio Special Edition Arrived This Week!!!

Post by Ric-Mx »

This Week Pinocchio premiered on Disney DVD on Latinamerica
Neither the Limited Issue nor the Gold Collection included Spanish track. :x

This Special Edition is a Single Disc Release packed with all the extras for the recently released Europan and Australian editions.

Region 1 and 4 NTSC
Audio English DD5.1 and Spanish DD5.1
Making Of Featurrete
Two Games
Sing Alongs
many more... :!:

Well this is strange... I'm sure it has the Recently Restored Digital Transfer, as well as all the extras. :P
But then it means that if a 2-Disc release wasn't made for a Worldwide marketing strategy then the Platinum Edition is far away. The R1 Gold Collection it's been on moratorium for over a year and it seems so little time for a re-release. At least in latinamerica it'll be its first DVD release.

So... my guess it's NO Pinocchio Platinum Edition on 2004 or 2005. :(
So... now there are way more chances that CINDERELLA or BAMBI will get the Spring Platinum Slot!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Which one will it be??? :?

well, Pinocchio wont be a Platinum title. There has been rumor for a SE coming out for next year though... I hope. I wish. That would rule!

oh -- and if this is off topic from your post, I'm sorry, I didn't really understand it! :\

With all due respect, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? In its Quarter 2 financial earnings webcast and confrence call with shareholders Disney announced a speedup to two Platinums a year (March and October) as well as adding Peter Pan, Fantasia, Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio. Pinocchio will be a deluxe double-disc Platinum Edition one of these days, and I'm hoping it'll be sooner rather than later, but it WILL happen, confirmed from the source. Period.

Guess anyone is getting my point...

Post by Ric-Mx »

I know Pinocchio will be a Platinum Title, I'm looking forward for its release.

My point is that a 2-disc set won't be produced at least for 2004 or 2005 because every Walt Disney Company International (United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, México) has recently released this title.

And as we've seen it with Snow White, Beauty and the Beast an the Lion King the international releases of these titles were scheduled at the same time.

If Disney releases "Pinocchio - Platinum Edition" on March 2004 or 2005 it won't make sense to have the international releases at the same time. Because I really doubt that WDC will produce a 2 Disc set just to be relased within the US, even it is the biggest market. But believe me, if the Platinum titles are selling 10 million copies on the US, the World Wide Sales make them a bigger hit!!!

What I meant is that this single disc R4-R1 release of Pinocchio is a dissapointment because it means a longer wait for the Platinum relese of Pinocchio, at least for int'l markets. And I'm 99% sure it means that the US release is still far away (maybe 2006)

clear???

While an upgraded release for the platinum editions has been announced for the US, nothing has been announced worldwide yet.

I think it may be possible for Disney US to get a 2 disc Pinocchio this coming March and the rest of the world to get nothing.

My guess is that the four extra Platinum films will only be Platinum films when Disney release those movies on HD-DVD. Thats my guess anyway.

As before stated in [SB, PP and F part of Platinum?] I do not think all the additional titles will make it in the platinum line until the transfer to HD-DVD also known as the second platinum cycle. However, if they plan to release 2 a year through 2007, then they will need to use one of the new titles, or there will be no fall ‘07 platinum. After hearing about the “rumored” 2004 release of Pinocchio Special Edition I assumed that that would probably be it, and it’s still possible. However there is another possibility that Fantasia will be the one added since the third in the series is suppose to make it’s theatrical debut in 2006, or so. I know how much Disney likes to release trilogies, first their Platinum predecessor, then it’s special edition sequels. It is also possible that none of the new titles will be releases this time round.
As for Bambi being the next Platinum, the first time I looked at this message board I saw a post that made me join on the spot. It asked what I thought the next Platinum would be. Well Bambi of course, DUH it is the perfect Spring movie, but then Pinocchio also seemed to be very probable due to the fact that Disney may want us to wait for the remaining classics to make their DVD review. While I still think that Bambi is a possibility, I wouldn’t want you all to get your hopes up. I Believe that more than likely Bambi will be Spring ’05 Platinum and Cinderella will be Fall ’05 Platinum. After all, before the list was changed I saw both of these listed as possible ’05 Platinums. Every fiber of my being is screaming that this would make the most sense, but then again, when in recent years has Disney made sense. Oh well I guess we will just have to wait and see.
Personally when it comes to Pinocchio I don’t care. I realize it is a masterpiece and will own it eventually, but I personally find the story dark and disturbing, and it is NOT one of my favorites.

I have to disagree - why bother to announce it now? Especially as both Pinocchio and Peter Pan are out-of-print and Disney has nothing to gain from increased sales.

The new additions will appear at somepoint in this first Platinum wave.

Something I found when looking for something else:

From Animated Movies News Archive (May 6th):
Quote:
Platinum Edition Outside of the U.S.
'Jeroen' mailed Disney Netherlands and Disney Taiwan about the new platinum release schedule: "they both answered that there will be only 1 a year in October."

Interesting... another reason why the 'original' Platinum list may continue in the October releases, and the 'new' additions will be slotted into the 1st Quarter schedule.

Why do you all want Pinocchio so soon!!??!!! I mean it has already had TWO releases, atleast in the US, so far!!! Geese, I would expect more people to be wishing for Cinderella, Bambi, or maybe even one of the other Platinum titles that has only been available for limited issue...

This really boggles my mind, as much as the people who only want ONE disc SE's!!!

I hope it is Cinderella, as another thread rumors, though I would not be surprised if it were Pinocchio.

Actually, it's really only had one DVD release, and that was 4 years ago this fall. The Gold Collection was simply a repackaging.

I'm looking forward to Cinderella and Bambi, too, but Pinocchio is a personal favorite, so I'd love for it to get deluxe treatment pronto.

Unfortunately, I haven't heard any news on this...if it's not going to be re-released here until as a Platinum, it could be years, I fear.

I do share your befuddlement in the 1-disc Special Edition desires.

Why? Because Pinocchio is one of the best animated films ever and it deserves a decent release, darn it! But Bambi would be nice too.

We already know that Alladin will be the Fall 05 release. Beyond that we know nothing. I am sure that they will announce the release order of these titles later this year.

I agree with Prince Phillip. While i LOVE pinocchio, i would rather have the movies that have yet to come to dvd. I already have Pinocchio on dvd and i don't NEED another at the moment. However, Bambi and Cinderella have not been released AT ALL. No offense to you guys who love Pinocchio to death, but i think that it is sorta stupid to push something that already has a dvd in front of some movies who don't. I am not just saying this only b/c i love Cinderella, heck, i've been waiting for almost 5 years to have Cinderella on dvd and i am not stir-crazy as of yet. I could probably wait 5 more years without getting ticked off. But to hear people say that Pinocchio, TLM, etc needs to come out AGAIN before un-released films just irks me to infinity and beyond ( i am a dork)....

Anyway, enough ranting... Umm. I love Pinocchio, yes i do! Please don't kill me, its just a meaningless rant! :D

Well Cinderelly...
as you can read in another post, Cinderella will be released on for the first time on DVD this October on Mexico (confirmed)
So it seems it'll be the March Platinum... still some users don't think so...

anyway, the official Disney DVD's on Mexico are both R1 and R4 compatilbe, and it'll get the English track... so you can get it from a good online retailer...

"La Cenicienta - Edición de Lujo" (Cinderella Deluxe Edition) is just 2 months away!!!
