This movie looks different from other Pixar films, but not as different as, say, The Incredibles (this seems like a buddy comedy again which will probably annoy certain members of these boards, but not me). Pixar's teaser trailers have never really done much for me, so I can't judge the film until a full trailer's released.
Pixar films can b enjoyable but they've been kinda boring me as of late. I think it's because that they are getting too much credit and praise for being so formulaic. I feel like the only one who notices this but it seems kinda too easy to know what to expect from a Pixar film: a certain theme (toys, bugs, fishes) with close-to-no human appearances mixed with buddy humor against a cute atmosphere with a children's style story. (at least they put focus onto story)
But now that other studios are copying off the formula, I'm getting real sick and tired of it. No more CGI buddy comedies, please!!!!
Anyway, that is why
The Incredibles seems like a very appealing movie because this is the first time that Pixar has broken out of its formulaic style of films, featuring humans for the first time.
Cars seems like it's going back to the plain Pixar formula: all cars and no humans, same humor that we've seen from past Pixar films. It would be nice to see Pixar break out of its shell once in a while. They seem insecure.
