Would you like reviews of some Touchstone and Miramax DVDs?
Since it seems like most people who are going to vote have already done so, and the overwhelming majority said yes, I'm going to go ahead and un-sticky this thread.

Hey Luke, sorry for thread-bumping (something I'm totally against), but I was just thinking this weekend. Since it looks like UD will be covering some Touchstone and Miramax titles, could I review Big Business (Touchstone) and Chocolat (Miramax)?

See Luke? It won't be that much more work for you, what with other UD'ers willing to review for you!
And I'll just repeat that I wanna review Big Business and Chocolat...mainly because they're the only Miramax and Touchstone DVDs I have.

Of course, it's up to Luke to decide, but we don't want to forget all about Disney and let the Miramax/Touchstone films take over!Luke wrote:To clarify, this would be less about revisiting already-released Touchstone/Miramax DVDs and more about covering major new releases.

Very true, but don't forget:
Roger Rabbit is one review I want to do, and Ella Enchanted is basically the most Disney-like of any Miramax film (just why wasn't this released under Walt Disney Pictures is beyond me). I think the best judge of what films would fit in is to include whatever shows up on Disney's DVD website (I've seen Spy Kids, Ella Enchanted, and Hidalgo mentioned there, as well as others). It's all up to Luke, though. ::spotlight on him::Of course, some major releases that have flirted with the Disney name - like Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, The Nightmare Before Christmas, maybe even Hidalgo would seem reasonable to have me or someone else review for the site.

You're all welcome to post DVD reviews of Miramax and Touchstone DVDs in the Off-Topic forum. I'm not sure how the idea got started that I was taking applications for reviewers on the forum, in this very thread and in private messages, but that's never been the case.
There are certain major DVDs from the other divisions that would merit a page here, but the focus would really be on new DVD releases, such as early reviews that I myself would be doing, with a few exceptions.
The way the reviews on this site are done, putting up ones that I don't write still entails hours of formatting and editing. While I'm sure some people would benefit from reviews of these titles that are being vollied around, UltimateDisney.com is going to remain primarily a site about Disney movies, and I just can't see doing full-blown pages for all these DVDs. I just don't have time, and many of the people who might be interested may well have already seen and/or bought the DVDs.
That said, the forum is a perfect place for some of you who'd like to post reviews. Reviews spark discussion, and that's kind of the whole point of the forum.
Right now, I'm not really looking for more people to write reviews for the site. Even with other things I have going on, I feel that I can find the time to review all (or rather an overwhelming majority) of Disney DVDs on my own, and slipping in one Touchstone/Miramax title a month won't change that.
If you're interested in writing reviews for the site in the future, e-mail is always the best way to go about expressing your interest. A writing sample might help. But like I said, there isn't lots I want to pass on myself at this point in time. I really love doing reviews, and that's become one of the most important aspects of this site.
If things change, I'll keep those of you who are interested up to date.
Wow, Captain Hook. Now there's a name I've not seen in over 5 months! Well this particular Captain Hook. Where you been, friend? Welcome back! Congrats on being #7 in the countdown! :)
Things are always busy and I hardly have time to come here anymore besides checking out the home page. I try to look at the discussion form every once in awhile. But this one caught my interest immediately!
I guess I'm really lucky to have had several reviews posted on this site! I didn't realize how competitive it's become.
I think that it might be nice to have more reviews than just the recent films from the other studios, Luke, but that would be a lot of work for you! You could get all the UD forum members to create Ultimate Touchstone or Ultimate Buena Vista to save you the expense!
