Sick of the Disney Channel?

Post by ichabod »

If you are one those UDers who have been complaining about the disappearance of Vault Disney and are sick of the teen fluff that comprises the Diney Channel schedules, then there is an online petition here you can sign

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/preservethemagic/

I only wish the UK Disney Channel would give us a halfway decent line up!

Well, I'm not necessarily complaining about how it is now, I mean, it's great that they're reaching out towards the younger kids, which really is all that matters, but for the older people, I guess the vault stuff would be nice, but honestly, it'd bore the daylights out of the people who are supposed to watch it -- Kids. I mean what kid wants to watch Zoro?

I loved Zoro when I was a kid.

I think that Disney needs to have older show or new shows not just based on teenagers as in Lizzy McGuire, Even Stevens, Phil of the Future, and That's so Raven. These new shows lack character, lack a good plot, and only seem to catch interst with kids and teens ages 11-15. These shows are based on teenagers and their frivilous problems. Also Disney needs some quality animated shows. The animation in Dave the Barbarian, The Proud Family, and Brandy and Mr. Whiskers is worse than the junk on Nickelodeen and Cartoon Network. What happened to showing a disney movie every night a 7:00?? Now disney shows these so called "movies" at 8:00. The new movies are disney channel original movies that lack plot, character, and only show stories about teenagers. What happened to showing Disney animated classics, live-action, or Vault Disney Movies??

When I was a kid I would anticipate Vault Disney on sunday when it came on at 9:00. I loved watching the real life adveture episodes/movies. I loved the Hardy Boys.

The worst is that disney won't even show any old Mickey cartoons, the one that started it all.

I too miss Vault Disney. As a kid, I didn't mind it being on late at night and looked forward to watching some vintage Disney. Some of the programs were boring (hey, I was a kid) but I still liked that it was there. I guess they won't bring it back simply because of their competition. Cartoon Network doesn't show the old cartoons like the Flintstones and the Jetsons and all those other shows like they used to. I think they still show Tom and Jerry in the afternoon, but that's it. Nickelodeon used to have a good Nick at Nite lineup, but now they air shows that were still airing new episodes when I was little. Before they showed really old, classic shows. We thought it'd be 10 more years until we saw Full House on Nick at Nite!

I would much rather prefer a Vault Disney channel. Thankfully they have TV Land for all the old tv sitcoms and Boomerang (though I don't have it) for the old cartoon shows. Toon Disney airs the old Disney afternoon, though rarely! I know I would definitely watch a Vault Disney channel! Probably more than the real Disney channel. THe old real Disney channel had better programing and occasionally showed Disney shorts between shows. Anyone remember DTV? I thought those were great! The now Disney Channel hardly seems Disney anymore. It just seems like its own company that makes its own stuff and stamps the Disney name on it. Sure, new things are great, but it would be nice to see some more true Disney shows on the Disney channel. All I can think of that's true Disney is Pooh, House of Mouse, and Lilo and Stitch.

I'm really sick of the Disney Channel all of the shows suck.
Now Disney Channel has too much Playhouse Disney in the morning. I have a good idea Disney could make a Disney's Playhouse Channel showing little kids shows all day. Also Nickelodeon could get rid of Nick Jr. and make it it's own channel. Also Cartoon Network is way better since it good rid of all those old shows like The Flintstones and The Jetsons to Boomerang Channel. Back to The Disney Channel topic I'm upset with all those lame shows like Even Stevens, The Proud Family, Boy Meets World, Braceface, That's So Raven, Lizzie McGuire, Recess, House of Mouse, Brandy & Mr. Whiskers and Phil of the Future.
Disney Channel should bring back Duck Tales, Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers, Goof Troop, Aladdin, Hercules, Darkwing Duck, Gummi Bears, Tale Spin, Gargoyles, Bonkers and Quack Pack back to Disney Channel instead of Toon Disney they should make a Teen Disney. Teen Disney could have That's so Raven, Boy Meets World, Sister,Sister, Phil of the Future, Lizzie McGuire and other teen shows.

There should be:

Playhouse Disney Channel - for those under 10 kids

The Disney Channel - a generic title for a variety of programming, focusing mainly on family-friendly shows that appeal to all ages (as in a 30 year old with a 5 year old daughter will watch a show, and both will not be bored)

Teen Disney - All those teenybopper shows like Lizzie McGuire, Kim Possible, Raven, etc. This channel can be for the tween-teen crowd (10-17 or so)

Vault Disney - The best Disney channel, focusing on anything/everything pre-1980s

(Something) Disney - Not exactly Vault, but not exactly modern, the inbetween period of the 1980s and the 1990s

That's a very good idea. But like Toon Disney which can only be viewed if you have digital cable (here), they would have to put it on digital cable, probably. And, since not alot of people (or people I know) don't have DC, they wouldn't get too many viewers. But hey, I'm a small minded child. What do I know?

I usually don't watch the Disney Channel unless a movie I like is on there. I like to also (rarely) watch Lilo and Stitch. But yeah, I usually watch Nick or Cartoon Network. Disney Channel needs all those good oldies back. It's became rather boring. Though, Quack Attack comes on Toon Disney...but here you need digital cable..curses... >.<

Disney Channel died when they started interrupting programs for commercials and then shortly thereafter purged all classic Disney programs from it. The only time we ever put it on now is when my 5 year old niece visits.

Disney Channel died when they discontinued Vault Disney. I had always loved to watch the Disney Channel until then. That is where I was introduced to the Old Classic Disney Live Action films. Like Scandalous John, Ten Who Dared, Escapade In Florence, Justin Morgan Had A Horse. Vault Disney was the best.

I should watch the Disney Channel to see what kind of shows Disney has. I didn't know that Dinsney has been showing teen fluff.

At least before they had some better teen stuff. I mean I like Raven and Phil of the Future, but all they have are comedy shows. I liked So Weird and Jett Jackson, but they cancelled them a long time ago.

Another thing is the commercials. It's bad enough that there are commercials but worse that they're the same ones over and over again just advertising the Disney channel. I mean honestly, we're watching the darn show we don't need a commercial about it since we are watching it already. There is occasionally a McDonald's commercials and I like the Mike's Super Short Show. Some of the other segments get really repeptitive and it seems like they made different segments (e.g. Cool Pets, Hobbies) but they only show like 5 of them.

The only thing I watch Disney Channel for is for Boy Meets World and that's all if BMW wasn't on their anymore I wouldn't watch the channel at all.

But think about it, it's a channel for tweens and teens, I hate most of what they air, but the audience they target are tweens and teens, none of them are gonna wanna watch vault Disney(which I love) and other older stuff like that. They could put vault Disney on overnight or something though.

Well obviously, they aren't going to advertise other networks :) But yeah I agree, they do get repeitive, but one good thing, they have less commercial breaks than other networks do though :)

I don't like Disney Channel anymore. I wish my local cable had Toon Disney. I miss all the great Disney cartoon shows like Duck Tales, Tale Spin, and Gummi Bears.

Actually the only show I watch on Disney Channel is Lizzie McGuire, reason. Hilary Duff is a real hottie! :) And also because I am becoming a huge Hilary Duff fanatic, not as big as my love for Doris Day mind you, but extremely close. Hilary Duff rocks :D

I agree. I love Disney, but I hate what the Disney Channel has turned into. I remember when I was little, my parents could stand to watch it with me, especially the classic shows and vintage Disney. Now, as an adult, I cannot stand most of what comes on.
