I hope Cinderella's Platinum DVD will have deleted things in it !!!

My favorite part, (aside from the movies and their usually grade-A presentation) are the making-of documentaries. <i>The Lion King</i> would have been greatly benefitted from porting over the 1994 "Making Of" that aired on the Disney Channel and was released to VHS and laserdisc.

Segmented featurettes on specific topics can be interesting, and there definitely *should* be different angles to different bonus features. But I enjoyed <i>Aladdin</i>, which mostly felt like one, in-depth, terrific general documentary which explored a variety of areas...much more than <i>The Lion King</i> and <i>Mulan</i>'s segmented snippets, without a larger unification to them and ignoring several aspects of production.

That said, I also really enjoy deleted scenes, particularly, as in the case of <i>Aladdin</i> and <i>Mulan</i>, they're really good, or in the case of <i>Snow White</i>, they're fascinating to see. Love to see trailers for the films, so it's disappointing when they're absent altogether or just a single sampling.

Galleries are definitely interesting to see, commentaries are generally enlightening and a neat way to experience the movie in a different light (though on some comprehensive DVDs, they rehash information more enjoyably covered in documentary form), and the games (when there's some effort put in) can be lots of fun. Music videos of songs that are actually in the movie (even if they're pop versions) are cool...new music videos of remixes are not as cool.

Basically I should say the awesome restoration and the new DEHTM.

I agree with Luke. Whenever I'm looking forward to a new Platinum Edition, I'm usually anticipating the making-of material just as much as the movie itself. Unfortunately, TLK didn't deliver in that aspect, as he brought out, but Aladdin & Snow White excell in that area, and BATB's is pretty good.

One thing I miss a lot: The Virtual Galleries. Those were a whole lot of fun, and I loved those as much as the documentaries. But of course, they are now discontinued.

I love "making of" documentaries and the virtual galleries. I'm not big on the whole multiple featurettes idea like with the Tarzan: CE unless there's a way to watch it all in one sitting like with Aladdin or Beauty and the Beast. Galleries in general are nice, but I love virtual galleries in particular because it makes wading through the selections so much fun, and the provided audio snippets are fascinating to listen to. I really hope they revive the virtual galleries for Cinderella's DVD debut, though that seems less likely now.

Probably the movies themselves! Aside from the fact that they are the best of the best from Disney, these films are absolutely timeless! Sure, the documentaries are nice, but I can with confidence say that I'll only watch them once, twice at the most. I can have a Disney marathon and never be board!

My favorite thing about the platinum editions is the making-of material. You see how the story was developed. I also like the film, being remastered and all.

The utmost importance (and ultimately my favorite) is seeing a pristine copy of the movie with vivid colors and excellent Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround. (Just looking at how gorgeous Aladdin is on disc just makes me quive with delight at how gorgeous the The Little Mermaid will look when the PE comes out, and I would like a directors' commentary for that movie, too.)

While the second important part is how the documentaries and making-of's are made and arranged onto the bonus disc, and the way they're conducted. Some of the commentaries are good (like Ron Clements and John Musker on Aladdin), and are worth a look.[/b]

The movie is certainly the most valuable aspect of any dvd, but what SHOULD distinguish these platinum dvds is the amazing making-of features; a pristine movie should be expected.

me too, it was ashame the lion king didnt put back in its deleted scenes of scars reprise on pride rock:S

also i noticed the lion king two didnt put back its great deleted scenes, nuka was really touching, and zira had such an awesome character twist at the end, she didnt chicken out! she JUMPED muahahaha

the commentaries for me are a big feature. I love hearing little behind the scenes things, and hearing the animators, directors and producers celebrate, and lament over their work.

it must be fun for them revisiting a work that took up so mnay years of their lives

lastly, as mentioned before, the restoration is such a buzz for me. seeing the lion king with its bold colours and glowing backgrounds, ahhh joooy

Aladdin is among my all-time favourites. I really enjoyed watching the recording session of 'A Whole New World'. I love watching the voice artist do their work. Of course the making of features are splendid. The deleted scenes are great too! What makes a title Platinum is when there are too many extras for me to explore

I like the audio commentaries. The Sleeping Beauty Commentary was the Once Upon a Dream documentary, but there is still stuff not heard in the documentary in the commentary. The animator one on Aladdin is a great one I enjoy. And of couse, the two Kirk Wise and Gary Trousdale ones are favorites!

I love seeing the restored movie itself. I alaways get so excited waiting to see how colorful and dirt free the movies can be. On the Aladdin DVD, you should have heard my excitement during the first day scene when Aladdin first appears. I was so excited seeing the error free picture. It just looks so great.

I love all the commentaries and behind-the-scenes features, but if I had to pick a specific piece, it would be the music featurettes. A large part of what makes the Platinum movies memorable is the mixture of unforgettable songs and emotional underscore.

Definitely the virtual galleries. I don't know why these were dropped. An utterly stupid cost-counting reason I suppose.

More extensive virtual galleries. We want character designs, storyboards, colour keys, backgrounds, posters, print advertising, theme park rides etc. All in virtual galleries.
