Rank and Rate Disney Classics by Decade
Rank and Rate Disney Classics by Decade
With all of the recent ranking and rating Disney movie threads going on, I figured I'd contribute. For this one, choose your favorite Disney movie from each decade (Snow White can be considered part of the 40's) and then rank them in the order you choose. Here's mine:
1. Alice in Wonderland (50's)
2. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (70's)
3. The Hunchback of Notre Dame (90's)
4. Lilo and Stitch (00's)
5. The Little Mermaid (80's)
6. Pinocchio (40's)
7. The Jungle Book (60's)
And just to add to things, rank the decades, too!
1. 50's
2. 90's
3. 00's
4. 40's
5. 70's
6. 80's
7. 60's

						1. The Little Mermaid (80s)
2. Beauty and the Beast (90s)
3. Cinderella (50s)
4. The Jungle Book (60s)
5. Bambi (40s)
6. Brother Bear (00s)
7. The Rescuers (70s)
By decade:
1. 90s - I grew up on films like "The Little Mermaid" and "Aladdin" and they
hold a lot of childhood memories.
2. 50s - Quality. That's the first thing that comes to my mind when I think
of the films from this decade. And besides, who can resist
"Cinderella" or "Peter Pan"?
3. 40s - Although I find "Dumbo" to be too boring and "Pinocchio" too dark,
they are landmark Disney films and cannot be overlooked. There's
a certain quality to them that lacks in later classics.
And "Bambi" is a creative peak for Disney, in my opinion.
4. 60s - Weird, but only 3 films were released during the 60s and one of
them is a lesser Disney classic but "101 Dalmatians" and "The
Jungle Book" remain as popular as ever. "The Jungle Book" is a
personal favorite of mine, I absolutely love this film!
5. 00s - I think people are a bit too harsh with this decade. Okay, they're
not. It's been a terrible decade.
6. 80s - Weird I'd rank it 6th when it features my favorite Disney film ever
(The Little Mermaid) but it was just a poor decade. Maybe "The
Fox and the Hound" deserves mentioning, but that's about it.
7. 70s - Yikes. Not even one "classic" worth talking about.

The Little Mermaid (80's)
Beauty and the Beast (90's)
Lilo and Stitch (00's)
Sleeping Beauty (50's)
Fantasia (30's-40's)
101 Dalmations (60's)
The Rescuers (70's)
By the decade:
1990's - I grew up on these films. I love each and every one of them. Disney did not disappoint me during this decade.
1950's - This is old school's so-called "Disney-age". Quality movies just didn't stop coming (Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, Lady and the Tramp...)
2000's - This is not a bad year. I only wish the public would give these features a chance. Disney produced some quality material such as Lilo and Stitch, Brother Bear, Atlantis and the daring Fantasia 2000. Not so bad hu?
1980's - Holds my favourite movie, The Little Mermaid. Other features are also quite good (Fox and the Hound and Oliver & Company. I've yet to see the Black Couldron / GMD).
1937-1940's- Some revolutionary films that changed the face of animation in the public's eyes (Snow White, Fantasia). Some fun classic films (Pinnochio, Dumbo, Bambi) and some forgetable features (Melody Music etc...) These years really are a mixed bag.
1960's - I just can't seem to enjoy these features. Tho Jungle Book and 101 Dalmations are great fun, they're just not my cup of tea.
1970's - Easily the "worst" year for Disney animation. Some poor movies were produced. Nothing glamerous or exciting to talk about. Winnie the Pooh is the only memorable classic from the decade, and that's just a few episodes Walt made put together as a movie.

Its so hard just to choose one from each generation. I think the 50s had the best classic movies then the 90s w/ their blockbuster back-to-backs.
40s: Snow White & Bambi
50s: Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan & Lady & the Tramp-sorry I love them all-this is def my fav decade...
60s: The Jungle Book
70s: The Aristocats
80s: Oliver & Company & Fox & the Hound
90s: The Lion King
00s: Brother Bear, Lilo & Stitch, Emperors New Groove.
I cant pick just one for 40s, 50s, 80s, 00s-I'm sorry, its just to hard they're all so wonderful!!
