hey guys - im a newbie here, i did a search and couldnt find a directly related thread so here it goes -
im only missing 4 dvds from my disney collection (lady and the tramp limited, toy story 1, toy story 2, and tarzan) - i found a guy on ebay selling what looked to be 100% authentic sealed copies of the first 3 there... he had 100% positive feedback, i checked for anyone questioning authenticity - nothing this looked 100% legit. In his photos you can see the BV stamp on the plastic and everything... wound up getting a better deal then i should have on them, about 90$ for all three... just got them today and compared, it looks like these are super high quality fakes. This is where you can come in - im comparing this lady and the tramp to my other limited editions that i know are authentic... the insert looks more glossy, the disc art does not feel textured, the red sticker on the plastic does not dull the "offer good from" part as my other sealed ones seem to, and lastly... the insert for the mail in rebate does not have the black bar at the top of the form side....
can anyone who has an authentic copy please verify real quick for me if any of these are just differances in lady and the tramp, or if i've got a fake.
i think if this is fake - its the best fake ever made... i only noticed this because of being way over comparing, which would explain his 100% positive feedback...
thank you kindly,

Hey there jon8282!
Welcome to the UD Forum!
Luckily, the only Limited Issue I have is Lady and the Tramp and...
I got mine from the Disney Store as a bonus with pre-ordering Snow White which may be why it doesn't have a mail-in rebate or a red sticker. My insert seems kind of glossy. It is basically the same material and "glossiness" as the Snow White DVD booklet. My disc art is textured and I can feel the edges of the text and stuff like that so unfortunately I think you may have a fake
!
On the bright side, even though it may be fake, you still have the movie to enjoy and an almost real and actual copy that you can enjoy until the Platinum Edition is released and the Limited Issue will be am inferior product.

thats what i was afraid of - im watching it now - the audio/video is perfect quality... but all my older disney dvds have that textured feel on the top of the disc... i've also noticed that the fine print on the bottom back cover is slightly fuzzy....
i totally hear what your saying about having it - but im working on quite the dvd collection in general, including my disney collection, and it just feels bad to have fakes in there....
im debating trying to get my money back...
