Which Song Is The Best? - Round 29: TARZAN

Post by DisneyChris »

Welcome to "Which Song Is The Best? - Round 29"! Here you can vote for your favourite song of the current Disney animated classic in the round, and if you like, you can rank them simultaneously too. Voting period lasts for 2 days. This round we have...

Tarzan

*Because some Disney animated classics have only one or no songs, and I want to ignore the WWII "package" features, the following films will be left out from the game: Saludos Amigos, The Three Caballeros, Make Mine Music, Fun and Fancy Free, Melody Time, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, The Black Cauldron, The Rescuers Down Under, Atlantis: The Lost Empire.

You'll Be In My Heart won the Oscar, but I like Two Worlds a little more. It's one of the best opening songs ever, but not quite as good as Circle of Life though.

1. Two Worlds
2. You'll Be In My Heart
3. Strangers Like Me
4. Son of Man
5. Trashin' the Camp

"You'll Be in My Heart" is my favorite Disney song, I was hooked to it from the moment I first heard it on the radio in 1999. The music itself has a beautiful melencholy/nostalgiac feel about it, and the lyrics are very touching. Incidentally, I've come to assosiate it with a friend of mine who passed away around the same time period, and the song and my memories of him are almost inseperably linked.

The rest of the songs are also excellent, with Phil Collins doing a great job of representing what emotions are going on inside of Tarzan. "Two Worlds" and "Son of Man" are very catchy, and their thriving jungle beat makes ME want to go tree surfing! :D

It's the song that plays when Jane tries teaching Tarzan how to read and speak English. They use a projector with slides for most of the scene.

I really like "You'll Be In My Heart," but "Two Worlds" encapsulates the theme of the movie in one powerful, story-relevant song.

"You'll Be In My Heart"!!

Especially the Phil Collins "radio" version... *sob*
Life often leaves us standing bare, naked and dejected with a lost opportunity. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words: "Too late."
