What Are You Buying On DVD This Week (10/19)?

Post by AwallaceUNC »

JJJ, I'm assuming you're still busy, so I'll post this for you again this week. Let me know when your time frees up and you want to start posting it again.

So, what're you buying this week? Nothing for me, though I will rent A Cinderella Story, and possibly Garfield.

I would buy Species but I'm going to save the money for Dawn of the Dead. That's the only movie that I really, really want to buy.

I have a list of must buys and this is it:

1. Dawn of the Dead
2. The Prophecy Trilogy
3. Gremlins

Other than that the Xena seasons, I only have one. The only series I'm collecting are that one and The Simpsons.

I didn't get anything new (in terms of this week's releases), but I did buy something, placed an order ...

For whatever reason, Amazon.com is offering the first seasons of various FOX owned shows for 15 dollars right now. (Presumably, I would think, to get people to bite into a given show ... and prompt them into buying further seasons).

And since I had been waffling over getting a season of MASH for the past half a year (as I like the show, and have watched it on and off since I was young, but it's ... a secondary show to me; it still means something to me, but not in a primary, fanatical way, and I'd rather devote my resources to my primary shows) ...

Anyway, since it retails (normally) for 40 dollars (though you could find it for 30 odd in Best Buy, I'm sure), I decided ... that I would go for it. I have no real excuse not to, if it's on such a sale. So, I ordered Season One of MASH off Amazon (which ended up, with shipping, to be 17.98 ; pretty good, for 24 episodes of a solid show).

I should have it by week's end.

I would like to see Garfield and Arrested Development at some point, but I can't see buying either one...in which case, the former will be one of the few Bill Murray movies I don't own.

I'm one of the crazies who bought Van Helsing this week (the ultimate edition). I liked Van Helsing in theaters, and I thought that four movies for $10 each sounded reasonable (Van Helsing + Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Wolf Man).

On a music note, I also picked up Brooks & Dunn's The Greatest Hits Collection II. The new songs are great, and so are all of the others. I liked seeing "A Man This Lonely" on there, but I was surprised that "Beer Thirty" was not selected. I guess that's why I have it on the regular CD :) .
