Disney Anniversary

Today Disney's 25th Animated Classic turns legal, and boy is it rebellious! The Black Cauldron is 18 today, and it is the most different I believe of any Disney film. I don't remember much about the story, so I might just have to pop in the DVD today in, er....celebration. Although I don't remember the whole story, I do remember that it was hard to form an opinion of because it is so different. Very '80s. I think Disney should re-release it simply because it has the worst DVD transfer I've ever seen. But on a light note, Happy Birthday to The Black Cauldron, the first PG rated animated classic, and the first classic to be presented by Walt Disney Pictures, as opposed to Walt Disney Productions.
What would this wretched world be like without Disney?

I like the Black Cauldron, although I prefer the books-I think Disney should do live-action adaptations of the books.

Yep, definitely prefer the books, but I still think the film is a bit of fun.

A live action would be interesting actually, particularly in the current climate of fantasy films...

Hard to believe it has been 18 years, but congrats BC!

Live-action films would be a way for Disney to get into the "fantasy market". People on the forum have been saying how Disney's missed their chances by not taking up Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, or Narnia. I think the Chronicles of Pyrdain by Lloyd Alexander would be perfect because they haven't been very popular in the past few years, but they're really good books. By making a live-action anthology of films based on the Chronicles, Disney could renew the book's popularity, and most likely make a lot of $$$$$$$!

But the animated film is still good: just love Gurgi! Crunchings and munchings :lol: !

I watched the film earlier today, and I admit it wasn't as bad as I said it was. I liked it. It just seemed like something was missing, but I'm still glad I have it. It's worth seeing at least once. And I do like Gurgi. :D

I havent seen The Black Cauldron since 1998 when it came out to video for the first time.
